Financial Services NEEDS to be under review. …
I am giving University of Phoenix one star strictly because of my experience with their Financial Services department. The level of inconsistency, poor communication, and lack of flexibility I experienced was beyond frustrating. I was repeatedly given conflicting information regarding what was required for financial clearance. At different points, I was told I needed:
a $3,000 payment, a balance under $2,500, and later a completely different amount of $4,498. Despite these changing expectations, I consistently communicated the same plan from the beginning: pay $3,000 toward my balance and continue structured weekly payments until the remaining balance was paid off. I followed through on exactly that. Although one payment was declined due to the payment being made on a Monday instead of the scheduled Friday, which prompted the end of that payment plan. Another payment plan was made, however in order to be “financially cleared” again I had to make a payment before I started the class instead of the planned payment scheduled . I paid over $1,600 toward my balance before making the requested $3,000 payment and setting up weekly payments of $127.02 for 10 months. Even after demonstrating consistent good-faith payments and financial responsibility, I still faced delays, rescheduling threats, and unclear answers about whether I would be allowed to continue my classes. The most disappointing part is that the university advertises itself as flexible and supportive for working adult students, yet my experience was the complete opposite. There was very little flexibility when it came to financial hardship or structured repayment efforts, even when I was actively making large payments and honoring every agreement communicated to me. I understand universities have policies, but students should not have to navigate contradictory information, shifting requirements and robot-like responses, while trying to continue their education. The stress and uncertainty this created unnecessarily impacted my academic progress. I hope the university seriously reviews how Financial Services communicates with students and handles financial clearance situations moving forward. Even more interesting is I hear this type of stuff happens all time with financial services.

The professors are not only…knowledgeable but kind
The professors are not only knowledgeable but also uplifting and encouraging. One of my Favorites said " I'm not here to break your head I'm here to help you understand".
Good for working adults
This program is very user-friendly and easy to navigate. Help is always available and response time has always been within a reasonable time.
Classes are a very easy, go at your own pace level. I don’t necessarily feel like I’m getting top tier education or instructor feedback/participation. It feels like the instructor lays the roadmap for the course and leaves it up to the students to teach themselves. Which can be frustrating. The instructors are very responsive to issues, however when it comes to teaching, it is very “copy/paste”.

Program is flexible
Program is flexible. Although at times it feels like instructors add alot of assignments so theirs not alot of balance with work, home life and school.
Seems Good on Paper
I started my journey here with high hopes, and the initial classes and instructors were excellent. However, the administrative and financial experience has been exhausting. I found myself contacting the financial aid department far more often than my academic advisor (Who I have spoken to 1 single time in the course of being enrolled over a year). Furthermore, as someone who has maintained a high GPA throughout my time here, I do not feel prepared to graduate or land a successful job based on the material provided.
On top of the academic concerns, I received automated emails for months threatening to reschedule my classes due to payment issues, only to be told by staff to "ignore them" every time I called. If you enroll, be aware that the financial logistics are a major headache and can cost you extra if your schedule doesn't align perfectly with their fiscal year.

Master’s in Management
My experience in the Master’s program at the University of Phoenix has been outstanding. From start to finish, the program was thoughtfully designed to support working professionals while still maintaining a high academic standard. The flexibility of the online format made it possible to balance my studies with my career and personal responsibilities, without ever feeling disconnected from the learning experience.
The instructors were knowledgeable, supportive, and brought real-world expertise into the classroom. They encouraged meaningful discussions and critical thinking, which made the coursework both engaging and practical. I appreciated how relevant the assignments were to real-life scenarios, allowing me to immediately apply what I was learning in my professional life.
The resources provided—ranging from the online library to academic advising—were always accessible and helpful. Whenever I had questions or needed guidance, support was readily available and responsive.
Overall, this program exceeded my expectations. It not only helped me grow academically but also strengthened my confidence and skills in my field. I would highly recommend the University of Phoenix Master’s program to anyone looking for a flexible, career-focused, and rewarding educational experience.

Program shifts behind the scenes
I started a program called something like business accounting and I had a capstone course for both business and accounting. My degree reads accounting only. I did not request a change in program nor did I authorize anyone to change my degree plan, it just happened

What made my experience great is I have access an email to my professors and I wasn’t always on time, but I made it just in time with my assignments and my post. Forgiveness is a lot. Patience means a lot. And I’m grateful I had the professors that I had and have. I’m almost to the end and I’m so excited!

The style of courses and staff communication
I have had so much positive experiences with the school. I had a long break in between times of attending and during that period I have attempted to attend a full-time in personnel LPN school. I also attended a normal community college and after being at the university of Phoenix in experiencing the other two schools, I realize that I had to come back to the university of Phoenix. It was the best school I have been to it allowed me the flexibility of every day, living with full-time work being a mom and wife, but also the ability to obtain knowledge and do the schoolwork that I need to get done to learn and gain my career as well as communication from staff, whether it’s financial aid or academics, they have all helped me tremendously and I couldn’t be more grateful for a better school. I do recommend the school to a lot of people that talk about going to school or wanting to transfer, I do share it. I’ve even shared it on the platform TikTok and you know to try to explain the people what it’s like. I would say the only recommendation I could provide is maybe give a a video to share as an advertisement on how classes are because when I try to explain the five weeks classes and how the layout is with discussions and assignments and such some people don’t really understand quite as well, but maybe a video advertisement may explain a little better and gain more traffic for people to attend or at least be interested in going to to get more students engaged. Otherwise best school couldn’t have asked for anything different. I mean I would love a little lower to tuition, but I mean for the rates in the school style I’m gonna do what I have to do to attend.

It has been a very challenging online program. Some of the weekly required readings are outdated, dating to the 2010's or 1996. The final practicum imposes unrealistic expectations for securing an MSN ED practicum site that meets university requirements.
