I was really disappointed. I was expecting at least some instructions or pointers to instructions with my beginners kit. It certainly did not contain everything I needed as a beginner as advertised. So misleading and expensive. I'm left with a product I have no idea how to use.

Broken Pearl Necklace…
I had inherited a broken pearl necklace and Pearls Direct followed my instructions and re-strung the necklace, and made a bracelet plus a pair of earrings with the spare pearls all with new silver clasps. I am absolutely delighted with my ‘new’ jewellery! It all took less than a week to complete & everything was itemised on the invoice. I highly recommend Pearls Direct! The company needs to put sometime and thought into how they receive feedback and process returns. After purchasing a product I sent an email enquiring was it was made of as it had broken. I attached a photo. I got a quick response by email which offered a refund or replacement (which I hadn’t asked for) and asked me to post the broken item back. The return postage was at my own cost which I didn’t mind if I was receiving a refund. They didn’t ask for any further photos or details of how the product broke before asking me to send the broken item back. Once they received they item they said they wouldn’t give me a refund as I only sent the broken item not the full product (this was not outlined in their initial email asking for the return). They also could have easily been identified the issues with the product through the photos or if they asked me to send closer photos. I found their processes were very sloppy, and they need to set up some professional and clear returns processes which they have actually put some thought into. I also thought there was no respect for my time asking me to send items. Both the product and the service were very average.

We asked this customer to return the kit (the cheapest item we sell) she'd bought because we'd never in the history of our company seen one of these threads break. This is the same thread we’ve used for hundreds of professional stringing and re-stringing jobs and we have NEVER had a report of one breaking like this.
On inspection, the thread appeared to be frayed as if it has been used on some sharp-edged gemstone beads or similar – our staff were not able to break the remaining thread ourselves despite strenuous efforts.
I asked the customer what she was trying to string and offered to advise her on suitable alternative cords or wires – a length of which we would have happily posted to her free of charge. Instead of engaging with us she chose to go straight to leaving a critical review.
It is possible that we did not make it clear that we would need the whole kit returned in order to refund her and we must apologise if this is the case. Alas, presumably the purchaser assumed she was going to get to keep the sterling silver clasp and other components of the kit free of charge.
As for our returns procedure, we are a small family company and prefer to communicate with our customers on an individual, personal basis in the event of any issues, rather than hide behind some faceless corporate policy. We can do this because we have remarkably few instances of customer dissatisfaction.
On the rare occasion when one of our customers is not happy, we will always work with the customer to try and resolve their issues. Unfortunately, this customer did not see fit to allow us to do that.
