Terrible
Got to the bit where they want to link to your bank account to check affordability, which isn’t necessary for the tiny amount of money I wanted to finance. Credit score is usually 999 on Experian. It then said I couldn’t proceed, so I borrowed the money from my bank and had it in my account in 5 minutes. Terrible business model guys! Make it easy for customers to access finance and use your money, don’t try to get access to their bank accounts before running credit checks. Will genuinely never use this service again.
To add, I had previously financed something before with Payl8r which was approved without Open Banking checks. PayPal Pay By 3 is MILES better than this service.
Edit to respond to Payl8r's response: yep, cookie cutter reply which basically says "computer says no, we were just following the rules" - cool, will never use you again anyway. As stated previously, I'd used Payl8r without Open Banking being required before a decision was made. There is absolutely NO WAY I would give you open access to my accounts via Open Banking.

Hi Graeme. In line with our regulatory requirements, we must ensure that a potential customer has sufficient affordability to repay any lending, regardless of how much the finance is. This is a separate to a credit check, but is something that all regulated finance providers must do. Whenever there are concerns about the lending being repayable, we would decline the application. However, we only use soft credit searches, so there's no negative impact on your credit rating. Regards, Payl8r
