Selling defective merchandise without disclosure; will not stand behind the sale
I purchased a $1500 guitar from Pawn1 in Twin Falls, Idaho on the Reverb platform and have several complaints about the transaction. First, I paid them $1500 immediately once my offer was accepted. They marked the guitar as shipped the same day, but days later nothing was showing in the UPS system, so I called them and was told that it was still sitting in a back room. So I can say that they are unreliable as far as shipping.
The next problem is what has triggered this complaint. I received the guitar in what I thought was perfect condition, so I left feedback accordingly. Upon closer inspection I realized that the guitar was NOT as advertised and the it had undisclosed issues. The first was that one of the pickups was loose from the guitar body on one side because of a stipped screw. No biggie, a little wood glue and a toothpick solved that, but the defect should have been disclosed.
The next defect I discovered was the deal breaker that resulted in this complaint. I discovered that one of the guitars tone switches was broken and needs replacing. The part is a $20 part, but it requires removing soldered on resistors from the switch and then re-soldering the resistors and all of the wires going to the push-pull switch. This repair is beyond my comfort zone, so I sent them a message letting them know that they sold me a guitar with undisclosed defects and I received no response, a second message was also met with silence. I received a quote of $75 for the labor plus parts, so close to $100 additional out of pocket for a $1500 guitar that was sold to me with undisclosed defects.
I paid a lot for the guitar, at $1500 the defects should have been disclosed. All I can say is don't trust Pawn1 on the condition of items sold online. My experience shows that they are willing to sell you defective goods, post that it is shipped when it is not, and then not stand behind the sale. Buyer beware, you might be getting less than you bargained for. You can NOT trust Pawn1 to be honest about the condition of their products and they will not stand behind the sale. Do yourself a favor and buy somewhere else!
