I had all but put my credit card information in to purchase my soon to be fiancé's engagement ring from a wholesale online jewelry store, when my hometown family reminded me of the jewelry they have used Perrysburg, OH. After a brief search online and price comparisons I saw how much inventory and styles McGivern had available for me to choose from along with their very competitive prices.

After about a week and half of emails with Michael (yes the owner takes the time to answer the phone and return my emails promptly), we thought we'd found the right stone and setting. After completing the sale, that night I found another stone online at another online wholesaler, and the following day I asked him to compare the two GIA certificates to see if it was worth looking at. He was honest as said you can't judge a stone by the certificate and he literally overnight shipped both stones to his store. Low and behold he confirmed that the original stone was indeed ideal, but that the latter was an even nicer stone (good find me!).

I had such a quality experience with McGivern that I am even writing this review before the ring arrives, but I have little doubt in my mind that he has helped me pick out a quality engagement ring that will blow my fiancé away. Michael, thank you so much for your help in the biggest purchase of my life to date.

I was lucky enough to find Mike before settling on a less quality and higher priced design from another jewelry store. Mike was the most easy and transparent to deal with. I opted for a custom design and the process was smooth as butter. He communicated with me directly and responded to numerous questions in minutes at any time of the day. He completed the job in much less time than estimated as well. Once I received the ring I was blown away. The craftsmanship is superb. Mike did an incredible job from the CAD design to customer service, to the very final product. I usually don't write reviews, but this was a great experience and he made the most important day of my life that much more special. I would definitely recommend his services to my friends and family. A very big thank you from me and my fiancé. We couldn't have wished for a better ring!

I was looking for an engagement ring, found Mike online, and from the time I first contacted him until the end of the process, I could not have asked for a better experience. All of my contact with Mike was via email, and he was very responsive and answered all of my questions thoroughly. I needed a ring quickly, and Mike did everything he could to expedite the process.

Unfortunately, my proposal did not go as expected, and I ended up returning the ring. Mike's return policy was spelled out on his website, and went exactly as promised. I returned the ring within the acceptable time frame, and Mike had a check for the full purchase amount in the mail within days. No small feat considering that the ring I purchased was close to $60K.

I took my mother's wedding ring that I wanted to wear to have resized. Ring was resized, but the band broke! I took it in and was told that the setting was too large for the band. I asked why wasn't I told that when I brought it in before. I would have done what was needed at that time. I took it to another jeweler and it repaired the correct way. It looks beautiful now. That jeweler said it should have been done for free from you! My husband and I have done business with you several times in past. We liked your father much better! Mike, the owner, was the only person I spoke with and responded within an hour. Great guidance and advice along the way. My first order was returned, with return shipping paid. It was of utmost quality, but I found a larger stone I just had to have! Next order arrived few days later and was gorgeous.

As several others have mentioned, I was initially very hesitant to but an expensive piece of jewelry online. I did a great deal of research on diamonds, and figured out exactly what I wanted. I was then referred to McGivern Diamonds by a friend. Mike had a diamond listed online that "seemed: to fit all of the characteristics that I wanted. After an e-mail exchange, and reassurances that I could return the diamond if it was not what I wanted, I had it shipped to me. My breath was taken away when it arrived as the diamond was even more beautiful than any I had previously looked at. I then picked out a mounting after consulting Mike, and just received the completed ring. Breathtaking.

Every step of the way, Mike was genuine, honest, and a great help. I can guarantee that i will be purchasing jewelry from Mike from now on.

Initially cautious about buying expensive jewelry online, I did extensive research and communicated with Mike McGivern via E-Mail and phone.
I came to recognize that the place was "for real" and that Mike was a straight talking, honest, reputable person and a great source of knowledge. He was always very accessible, promptly responding to E-Mails and available on the phone.
Mike was willing to offer his personal opinions, in subjective comparison, of various stones, beyond the usual 4 C's.
I bought the stones and had McGivern's design and construct a custom setting, which is beautiful and more than met my expectations. The designs were CAD created and presented to me via E-Mail for approval. After a few back and forth modifications in design, the ring was constructed and delivered. All, at what I believe to be a very reasonable price.
We are very pleased and highly recommend McGivern's!

I have purchased several pieces of expensive jewelry from Michael and have found that each was beyond what I could have dreamed of. They were perfectly done, every bit the piece I had asked for and at a price that literally blows local stores away. Everyone is and should be concerned dealing over the internet for an expensive jewelry item but you can rest assured that he is honest true and extremely fair. I'm proud to say all of this so anyone reading can buy what they want and know they are in the safest of hands. In short, he is the best and the last jeweler i'll ever have to deal with.

Our first experience with Mike was five years ago when we asked him to source a 2+ ct Asscher to upgrade my existing wedding set. His prices were extremely competitive and his insights invaluable, and we got a gorgeous stone at a sensational price. Fast forward another five years, and we commissioned Mike again to redesign my existing ring setting to better showcase that Asscher. Once again, Mike delivered! He used the base of my ring but then surrounded the Asscher with a halo of deep-blue French Cut sapphires. I'm not talking about a run-of-mill, ubiquitous halo design-- NO WAY -- these sapphires are superior quality, hand-cut, oddly-shaped gems that were chiseled to specifically fit to around the angled perimeter of the Asscher, and can only be described as glistening! Seriously, light literally bounces off my ring. It is an exquisite Art Deco design. So trust him -- he offers the best quality and price, and will not disappoint!

I came across Mcgivern's website back in 2003. I was lookign for a loose diamond and custom mount for an egagement ring. The quality and price were right in line and our expectations were exceed when it came to service. Michael McGivern took the time to call us the day after the ring had arrived to make sure we were happy.
Since then, as a family, we have purchased earrings, bracelets and various other pieces over the years. We simply won't buy diamond jewelry anywhere else.

When I was teaching I was known as a tough grader, and so I am. I believe an "A" has to be well earned. And in this case, it has. Let me explain why.
When I read all these rave reviews of McGivern Diamonds, I was skeptical but decided to give it a try. I thought, "He can't really be that good!" Are these reviews real?
I first shopped several local jewelers and listened to their presentations and ratings of diamonds in my price range. I also did a ton of research online to learn about diamonds and quality ratings. To make a long story short, one hears/reads a whole lot of confusing and contradictory information (and not always honest, I am sorry to say) out there from folks anxious to sell you their diamonds. Who do you believe? I felt pretty vulnerable, because they all talk about trust being the most important factor in who you work with on this type of purchase, and they all claim to be trustworthy. Well, how do you trust someone if you haven't had a previous relationship with them ? And furthermore, if you as a new consumer are pretty naive? How often does an average person make such an expensive purchase? Do you go by reviews? Friends recommendations? How long in business? Return policy? Better Business Bureau rating?
McGivern had strength in the above factors, so I decided to ask a few questions about a group of diamonds and see what he had to say.
Also,his prices looked good and when I submitted a list of possible diamonds to buy, his reason for recommending the one he did seemed logical and knowledgeable. He was prompt and consistent in his responses to the numerous questions and concerns I had during the process of purchasing the 1 carat, princess cut,VSI, I color GIA rated diamond. So I took the leap of faith and purchased a diamond online that I had never seen! Being rather old fashioned, and not what you would call wealthy I did not find this an easy thing to do. If this did not pan out I would lose what is to me a significant amount of money.
Therefore, I was cautious and when I bought his recommended diamond, and I took it to two local appraisers for an opinion. Both had very good things to say about the McGivern diamond, and I was pleased and reassured that an unbiased professional did not hesitate to tell me I got a great deal on a nice diamond.
I should mention that I almost got burned by a local jeweler who has a good reputation. That jeweler tried to present an EGL-USA diamond with a similar rating as an equivalent diamond to McGivern's. Even though I questioned the rating system, since I already had read that EGL-USA had softer standards, I was told that "They have tightened up their standards lately" and that this was equally as good. No way! The appraiser said the local jeweler's diamond was not cut as well and the rating was one to two steps below the GIA rating.
So beware! I share this story because it was my experience that the local jewelers wanted me to purchase a diamond from their store and did not seem to want to set a diamond purchased elsewhere. And they unjustly bad-mouthed this diamond to put doubt in my mind. That was the one problem I ran into and it did cause me some stress. Initially when these comments caused me to become doubtful, I considered returning the diamond. Mike was perfectly willing to take back the diamond and give me a full refund, and did not give me a hard time whatsoever.
I solved the doubt problem by getting an unbiased opinion from the appraisers. It gave me peace of mind, but left me with shaken faith in jewelry stores. All the more reason it is a relief and a gift to find a company like McGivern's who is actually honest, just like they claim! I am delighted with my purchase and highly recommend this company!

I want to thank Mr Mc Givern for the service and product he delivered to me. This is the second time I buy diamonds and rings from his company. He is trustworthy and delivers what is promised.
