The knife is great! It's sharp, it's shiny, it gets the job done well and it's gorgeous! I have not held a more elegant cutting entity in my life.

I have had to wait for a bit to get my order in; however, it has been communicated to me clearly and I have been offered many opportunities to replace the ordered knife with a larger (more expensive) knife at no cost to me.

I decided that waiting for hand-crafted steel is not the worst idea ever, so I was patient.

Kamila was extremely helpful and understanding.

I recommend Oishya, for sure! However, make sure that the knife is in stock before you are ready to dedicate your heart to it. I would have just picked a knife that was in stock, if I knew that I would have to wait; but as soon as I set my gaze on the Mediterranean Blue Gyuto, there was no going back.

I ordered the Mediterranean Blue Nakuri knife to replace a Damascus steel Nakuri knife that I actually made myself at Stag Do. I absolutely loved that knife but after years of use it started to fall apart -- clearly I am not a master craftsman.

The Oishya knife is a beautiful replacement. The handle is stunningly gorgeous and it is incredibly sharp and lovely to work with. Highly recommended!

Company advertised select knives which were not in stock—as in stock. I had paid Oishya, and waited nearly two months for Kamila to email stating the knives I had purchased were actually not in stock. I am saddened at the blatant lack of respect, and shady business practices Oishya employs.

I have sought a full refund and will discontinue any further patronage.

I love the knives! The process took a long time - it took several months to receive the knives after I placed the order but I am happy I got them and they are great. Kamila was responsive when I contacted her about the delays and she kept me informed.

The promt replay to my queries and the handling of a partial refund was quick good. Well done!
I got my expensive knife after about 4 weeks via Poland. That time was anounced.
Furthermore: there was no extra fee for customs...

Waited for the knives quite a while as they were on back order. Customer service was extremely responsive and helpful. Received the knives and they are beyond stunning. Worth the wait.

I bought knives at a local brick-and-mortar store of a national kitchen supply store, and also took home a couple of storage options, neither of which I liked. Searching online I found the magnetic wall mounted knife rack at Oishya that I know have. It looks great and stores my knives and kitchen scissors perfectly and in a readily accessible location.
There were a few bumps in delivery of the knife rack, which I don’t believe was any fault of Oishya. However, Oishya people stepped in and were instrumental in solving the issue.
In my opinion, Oishya has customer service worthy of being called ‘customer service’, which is rare these days.
Kudos to Oishya for their magnetic wall mounted knife rack and their customer service.

My order is prolonged due to steel issues in Japan, initially I was concerned as there was a delay with reply to my emails by staff covering temporarily but since then have had personalized attention from the owner to give me updates as well as try to find other options for knives for me that might fit my purposes. Looking forward to seeing the craftmanship in person

I purchased a set of knives from the company but unfortunately my tracking number was lost. Luckily they reached out to me to get everything sorted with no problems. I really appreciate the prompt response and how helpful they were with my order. Will most definitely be ordering from Oishya again.

Fantastic knives with superb quality and Japanese feel.

Really great artisanal Japanese products. Even when I had a small problem with an item, they rectified immediately.

It was not packaged correctly and was damaged when it arrived. The corners were broken off. Very disappointing!

I ordered an Aomori Hiba Kitchen Cutting Board. It arrived quicker than expected. The board was well packaged, smooth, without a blemish and smelled so good! Remember to wet the board before using to protect from stain and to enjoy the wonderful aroma of the wood. This is definitely a keeper that my knives love. I'll order from this site again.

I purchased a magnetic knife strip for $216. Four months later the fake brass mount started peeling.

I contacted customer service via email who offered credit store or a refund. I chose credit store and used all of it to order a magnetic board with no exterior metal. Upon receiving the board I saw the box was crushed and the top corners of the board were crushed as well from really shoddy packaging.

I contacted Oishya again and requested a full refund this time. Oishya replied that they would send me return labels but no labels ever arrived. Upon contacting Oishya once again, they asked that I keep the magnetic strip and send the board back. They asked me to tell them how much the board weighed so they could pre-pay the shipping. (I guess they don’t actually send people their products. They come from a 3rd party? If they did, they’d know how much the broken product they shipped to me weighed). 10 days later the shipping label still hadn’t arrived. Oishya’s excuse was that the banks were closed for a holiday but promised they would take care of it ASAP. They never did.

Because I already had been dealing with Oishya’s lies since May, I disputed the charge with AMEX. After one month, AMEX ruled in favor of Oishya because of an email Oishya provided stating that I received and accepted the product (lie), but they hadn’t honored their return policy because the cost to ship back their broken products exceeded their value, they were finding alternative ways to get their product back, and I wasn’t patient with the return process and decided to dispute the charge instead, and the claim was outside of the dispute window anyway. Receiving defective and damaged products twice and getting jerked around with shipping labels for two months isn’t patient enough for Oishya apparently.

This company is very dishonest, they don’t honor their own warranty and return policy. They delay and extend the time victims have their products to ensure they can’t file disputes successfully with their credit cards.

End result. 1) I spent $216.00 in Junk products from England posing as fine Japanese kitchenware. 2) I will end my 8 year relationship with AMEX because they didn’t have my back, and refused to accept any of the written evidence I had of my ordeal with these scammers.

Do not buy from Oishya. You will regret it.

The knife is absolutely beautiful. However, it's very light, and I expected the blade to be much sharper. Also, I understand that the hilt/tang is constructed of Italian maple, but I didn't expect to find a small whole in it. Obviously, naturally occurring in the wood, but did not expect to have one in a 400.00 knife. Contemplating returning it, unfortunately.

Well having spent a day visiting most of the specialist knife shops in London and seeing some great knives we discovered Oishya by chance and couldn't get over how good their knives looked for the price. Was a little nervous ordering in case the knives didn't live up to expectations but I can assure you the set of 3 knives we bought were fantastic and exceeded our expectation.
Also emailed before purchasing to check on delivery timescales etc and the customer service response was both speedy and professional

Therefore I would recommend Oishya without hesitation

I recently purchased the Wooden Magnetic Knife Stand Block from the Oishya and I am very happy with my purchase. The magnetic feature works great and securely holds all of my knives. The design is sleek and modern and fits perfectly with my kitchen decor. The wood is of high quality and seems very durable. I highly recommend this product.

Super-high quality knife with a premium. This Oishya gyuto is of really high quality. I am a perfectionist and have an eye for detail and when I inspected this knife, it did not have any defects. The details on the knife from the blade to the handle are just beautiful and clean. The VG-10 steel is easy to clean and is straight butter and glides when cutting food. One of my sharpest Japanese knives. The pictures online make it seem like the blade is more matte looking like raw carbon steel (which I was hoping for) than what I got, but that's just the stainless steel property of the VG-10. I love the Western profile of this knife with a slightly curved blade as I am a "rocker" vs a "chopper", as compared with my other Japanese knife that has a flatter blade. You may find the tsuchime along with the damascus pattern on other less expensive knives, but what makes this knife unique is the beautiful wa maple burl handle (albeit the beautiful pattern of the tsuchime and Damascus layers on this knife are perfectly imperfect that it looks designed but not at the same time, if that makes sense). The maple burl will make this knife unlike any other knife out there. Even if you bought 2 knives from Oishya, no 2 handles will be the same. One of the disappointments I did have was that the collar of the handle did not come in the beautiful natural brown like in the pictures but rather came in a black oak bog wood. I did not hold it against Oishya as they did mention on their website that no two handles will be the same. I did reach out to the company about this (among other questions that I had) and they replied quickly and were very courteous. I found out that the person that reached back out to me was actually one of the founding members of the company, Kamila. Pretty cool to know that you're supporting a small (woman-owned!) business. Another beautiful detail is the copper ring on the handle. I'm concerned about it's discoloration/oxidation over time, but you should never keep the handle wet anyway. Only time will tell. Overall, a beautiful and unique, high-quality knife. If you have the luxury to spent a little extra on this knife, you will not be disappointed.
