Capital One Bad Business

I’ve got a Post Office credit card with capital one been with them for ages never missed payments always paid in full.
Never ever have they ever offered me an increase all the time I’ve been with them, also I applied for another card of there’s answer was yes back in December never heard back from them even after calling them a few time their customer services said it will be with you shortly it never arrived. So their customer services tell lies throughout so in the next few weeks they can have their post office card back and I will close the pathetic card down.

Poor customer service

Poor customer service, called to cancel a credit card. I had paid off the balance.

The agent kept putting me on hold for over 20 mins. She was speaking to someone about fraud on the other line.
I answered all her security questions.
I advised her I was working, if she could call me back.. due to the length of time she was taking. She refused. After 25 mins I hung up and my card 3 weeks later is still active.

Irritating in my first few months but has improved since

When I first received my ocean credit card it was an utter nightmare to try and use. Constant app verification prompts for even the smallest of purchases, slow and occasional failure to accept payments for my statement, and even a call about potential risk of being a victim of fraud when I was just trying to use my card.

After refusing to use it out of irritation I have recommenced spending with it in the past few weeks and have had no issues.

DO NOT USE. They are the absolute worst! Terrible customer service! Horrible communication. Most of the representatives speak poor English!!! Avoid at all costs!

Zero customer service

Zero customer service. They have no real facilities, and you won't get most of the things you'd expect from a credit card. They run incredibly extensive ads, but it would have been much better if they invested that effort into their service. Their phone lines are completely useless; whatever you ask, they just tell you they don't do that or have no one to help you. I'm not talking about any special requests here—just basic day-to-day banking that you'd need when you have a credit card.

In short, don't waste your time. As you all know, a credit card plays a very important role in your daily life, so be very careful what you choose. Also, be aware that the Ocean credit card is now a subsidiary of Capital One, so all the weaknesses you find in Capital One are present in Ocean as well, even though they never mention this in their ads.

If you value customer service then Captial one and Ocean are not for you.

Unable to express my real feelings as my review would not be published, but capital one/ocean ( who are not the only guilty parties ), unfortunately put cheap Labour which they exploit, off shore call centres over providing a more customer friendly service by employing people in the UK which would boost our economy and give the much needed employment opportunities to growing employment.
I will no longer be dealing with them and they can whistle for their MONEY.

Capitol One is Second Rate

I see that Capitol One is offering a virtual Credit Card Service.
Well, I looked at it and it's too little, too late.

FIRST: the virtual cards just transfer over to your regular Capitol One card, so interest accumulates, you will need to send a payment to your regular card after each use of the virtual card to avoid a running balance. Unless you want it that way, it's better to have a funding source choice.
Realistically, a virtual Credit card can be connected to a funding source like your bank or another credit card to make a complete transaction.

SECOND: Once you've created the card, Capitol One keeps control of it. If you don't want any re-accruing payments on that card then you must delete it.

Ideally, a virtual credit card can be locked or paused to decline all transactions when not active. So the only time I would leave a Virtual CC open is if I'm expecting a REFUND, otherwise I lock it to stop fraudsters.

You make a purchase, get confirmation on payment, then lock or pause the card until you're ready to use it again. Zero chance of fraud.

Capitol One makes you report the fraud, then delete your virtual vendor specific card only to create another one, and update your payment source with the merchant each time.
Basically a one time use Burner Card you didn't ask for. One Time Use Burner Card is another option NOT offered on Capitol One's virtual card service.

THIRD: Capitol One has a very slow payment process to, it takes about 4-5 working days for them to process your payment from pending to posted. Really frustrating when I'm getting a refund on something.

Another reason why a card that if payed directly from your bank account within seconds is better.

BUT, THERE IS A BETTER WAY:
I use PrivacyCard.com. It's a virtual credit card service that connects directly to your bank accounts debit payment or you can use whatever credit card you choose.
PrivacyCard allows you to create Vendor Specific OR one time use Burner Cards that you control for free. As many as you need, for free.

And with membership, you can have full service credit cards that work anywhere like a Capitol One Card but you control it. Pausing the cards between transactions for ZERO fraud with your money.

The only downside to PrivacyCard is that they don't do Reward Point.
But you can fund your PrivacyCards from your Capitol One, Amazon or what ever card you want and earn Reward Points too. Or directly from your bank for a fast payment for the fastest transaction.
It's YOUR choice. Something Capitol One won't offer.

Capitol One is offering a Lame Service that keeps you locked within their maze of inadequate services.
Is it any wonder why Capitol One needs to hire Samuel L. Jackson to yell at you in their commercials instead of pointing out the real benefits, or lack of in having a Capitol One account ?

So go check out PricacyCard .com and see what a real virtual Credit Cards are supposed to look like.

ALSO: I have a Capitol One Quick Silver Card, but I use exclusively it to isolate and keep track of my monthly re-occurring payments. That's it.
Nothing else as their customer service sucks, and their alerts for purchases aren't as good as Bank of America's, which is my walking around card.

BOA sends a text to my phone, I have a special ring tone for BOA, so every time my card is charged,
I hear Cha-ching within mere seconds on my cell phone.
The couple of times I had some low-life use my BOA credit card info to buy a pizza or order car parts on line, I got the notice on my phone with the vendor's name and phone number at the same time the criminal got approved.
I was able to call the vendor and inform them of the fraud, then call BOA and cancel my card and have another replacement sent Next Day by FedEx to me for free. Bank of America has awesome customer service.

Avoid capital one at all costs

Opened an account through Amazon 5 years ago one of open an account get money of this order seemed like a good thing, used it 2/3 times all ways paid in full asked them to close the account as didn’t need it destroyed the card, 4 years later still on my credit reference as active useless company customer service the worst I have ever had the dis pleasure to deal with. There are better card companies out there avoid Capital One I find it a bit strange that every time i contact them for the next 10 days I get scam calls ?

Disputes department uncontactable

Their disputes department is a joke. I reclaimed £92 after an events company ceased trading. Merchant incorrectly disputed it saying I had missed the deadline - I hadn't. I emailed Disputes - twice, as I received a reminder after the first time - but after a week I got an email saying "as you haven't responded we assume you no longer want to pursue this. If this is incorrect please contact us on the number below" - and to make matters worse, there was no number below. I could not find a number online so rang their general number and asked to be put through or to take the number. They refused to do either and said someone will call me back. Guess what? No one did! So now I am out of pocket and have no way of contacting anyone.

I now despise this card

I now despise this card. I have been working dilligently over the last two years to improve my credit score. Every other card or financial instrument that I have will send me a push notification email or text informing me that payment is due for the month: however these clowns do not. With life being so busy when I log in to check the account I was shocked to see a "late payment" fee of £12 applied to my account. Didn't receive an email, push notification or text. As alluded to, every other financial product I have I have paid on time as they send an alert that a payment is upcoming. They make it easy for their customers to know that a payment is due, and how to pay it.

Soon I will be balance transferring the balance from this account and closing it down. Should never have opened in the first place. In addition, these late payments were made as soon as I saw I was late,no more than 2 days over due date yet hit with 24 quid in fees on two occasions. Surely sending a text or notification that the payment is due would help your customers, after all life is pretty hectic and your competitors seem to have no problems doing so!

Not fit for purpose

First I take a card out with these numpties and when I go to use it it says declined, so I cut it up and threw it away, this was years ago, then I go on my credit score and fund these numpties have had a request from someone else who they won't tell me if they gave a card or not to some b impersonating me, I get a letter asking me to ring them immediately so I do and they can't give me any more info than is on the letter, now I see why they only have a 1.8 stars on here, this is a tin pot company who can give a card out under your name and won't give you any info, if you are reading this and have seen it on other social media sites go elsewhere you are obviously wasting your time with these numpties, I can't believe that people let these have hold of there finances, when this proves they are not competent enough to not make sure it is the right person they are giving a card to.

DO NOT USE, absolutely mis leading charge interest even after full balance cleared and staff could not be more uninterested just kept saying have to clear balance 2 month in a row so no interest now someone please explain how you can clear a zero balance because I would love to know 😂 absolute joke of a company
