Spinal condition. From my first contact with Alice in July 25, I was immediately impressed with her warm and reassuring approach during initial assessment and treatment plan . I was able to practice targeted exercises at home and small changes led to huge improvements in my strength,balance and endurance. Alice is such a positive Physio and continues to build my confidence and hope.

For more than three years, I've benefited from bi-weekly physiotherapy appointments with Nicola. She complements these sessions with comprehensive and detailed exercises for me to practice. This well-structured program has greatly enhanced the mobility of my hand, arm, and leg, along with my ability to walk. Martin Towey helped my 87 year old mother after she had a serious stroke. In her words Martin was “marvellous” and “a VERY nice man”. She thought he made her work hard, which she loved, because she is a very determined lady and could see how much her condition improved as a result of his help and encouragement.

I have been using Neurophysio Scotland for a number of years now and the two physios I have worked with have been excellent,
I now work with Rosemary Macdonald who through hard work and various exercises has really helped my foot drop to the point that I no longer need my foot splint, I can now wear whatever footwear I want.
The exercises I do with rosemary have really helped my knee which was flicking backwards, I now have better control of this . I am so grateful for Rosemarys skill and advice and would recommend her to anyone who needs this high level of support .

I was looking for a physio for my mum who has Parkinson's disease after she broke her hip last year. I came across NeuroPhysio Scotland with the help of a friend of mine (who is a physio). Everyone I have spoken to has been extremely helpful. Martin is the physio who has been allocated to my mum, who I believe lives relatively locally to her in Fife. His approach has been amazing although it's early days - he spent time on the phone with me to understand her circumstances and what we hoped to achieve from the sessions. He is clearly knowledgeable in neuro diseases such as Parkinson's. Mum had her first session last week and really enjoyed it. I think already it has had a positive impact on her wellbeing and I don't doubt that the time spent with Martin will be helpful with her movement.

I have been having twice weekly physiotherapy sessions with Nicola for over three years. She has also provided very thorough, detailed follow up exercises. Through this robust programme my hand, arm and leg movements have improved significantly as has my walking. Excellent Experience
Following my stroke at the end of Dec 2022 I was
discharged mid Jan with no physio due for 8 weeks.
Emma took on the task of maintaining physio through
the important period following my remobilization.
This was provided in a complete and rounded course
of physio extending the excercises as my mobility
and stamina improved without over taxing me.
I was very impressed with the professional approach
and the rapid progress made.

I just wanted to say a big thanks for my physio session. You were extremely knowledgable and knew exactly how to deal with my queries, and about exercising certain muscle groups.
Also - and this is a real game changer, you instantly figured the problem with my gait and made the connection with my leg length difference. I've had the heal pad in my trainers today and I can't tell you how improved my walking is. It's made a huge difference and I really can't thank you enough.

My Mum has been having sessions with Martin Towey for a couple of months now. She has MS and her positioning and posture is challenging. Martin is doing amazing work with her and we are seeing her looking more comfortable and her posture improved. Mum is also very much enjoying the sessions, to the point where she typically falls into a restful sleep afterwards. My family and I can’t thank him enough. He is very gentle with her and has been excellent liaising with the staff at her care home- producing very useful visual guidance for them to facilitate better positioning on a day to day basis. Would fully recommend.

Virginia Kelly has been amazing in helping me overcome issues following a knee replacement which were not only physical but also psycological.

Viki Houston from NeuroPhysio Scotland treated me for a drop foot which resulted from a total knee replacement last June. She was absolutely wonderful: she gave me exercises which fitted my lifestyle and my personal level of ability, communicated very clearly and helpfully and was always cheerful and encouraging. I am delighted to say that I recovered full movement of the foot. She also gave me exercises to prepare me for my second knee replacement in November. As a result of this I was discharged early from hospital as I could manage the necessary movements easily. I had three further sessions with Viki to ensure that I was progressing in the right way and now feel that I am back to normal. I am immensely grateful to her for her skill and help. I would recommend her without hesitation.

5 Star service. Martin Towie was able to show me how to do things I thought I would never be able to do after my stroke. He gave me the confidence to carry on. He's such a kind and considerate person. He really cares for his clients. I now have Tracey as Martin had to go back to Edinburgh. Tracey is carrying on where Martin left off and doing a good job too.

My daughter came out of the Queen Elizabeth spinal unit with horrific injuries . We really weren’t sure where to turn . Well we found Neuro Physio Scotland especially Martin towey and our lives have returned with some normality . Martin has the kindest manner and we say magic hands also , His compassion , tenderness & input towards my daughters recovery was so special & immense from day one . As a family he supported us from the beginning and helped us cope with what was ahead of us . I will never be able to repay Martin especially but definitely recommend Neuro Physio Scotland .

My wife, Liz, had a stroke back on the 23rd Dec. 2020. We moved to a ground floor flat when she finally got home to enable her to have more access to outdoors. We contacted NeuroPhysio for additional physios to help with Liz's recovery. We had Martin Towey come and assist Liz's movement, he had her up and outside walking with support. Liz always looked forward to Martin coming. He boosted her confidence and improved her abilities and broadened her horizons. She was always pleased with what he had her do even if she was knackered afterwards. We are sorry that he has moved to Edinburgh, but hope he keeps in contact.

Viki is a superb physiotherapist. My husband and I both feel very confident with her knowledge and expertise. She gives my husband so much hope for the future by giving him achievable goals which in turn increases his motivation to work hard at the exercises. I highly recommend her. Thank you Viki .

My husband has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease for over ten years.Recently he has been freezing frequently ( unable to move )and sometimes getting stuck for 10-15 minutes if I'm not around to help. This is extremely frustrating for both my husband and myself. He was also reluctant to go out for walks, preferring to stay within the confines of our garden.

When Martin our physio made his first visit to us he asked what we hoped to achieve from his input. My husband said he would like help with his freezing and I said I would like him to venture outdoors more. Within two visits Martin helped him on the road to achieving both goals.

Martin, with his kind and friendly manner, instilled confidence and motivation in my husband. He very quickly explained, in a few simple steps, how my husband could achieve movement relatively easily from a freezing position. So far I have not had to help him again.

My husband still needs encouragement to walk outside but is beginning to feel more confident, his posture is more upright and he is taking bigger steps like Martin has taught him.

We are both very thankful to Martin who has made a big improvement in our lives. We just wish we had known about Neuro Physio earlier in our Parkinson's journey.

I can't thank Martin Towey from Neurophysio Scotland enough for the help and support he has given myself and my dad following a fall in his care home which resulted in broken hip which required hip replacement surgery.
Dad is now back to being fully mobile having being discharged from hospital with delirium and not able to load bare, the instructions were that he has to be moved using a standing aid every time he needed to be moved, this was far from acceptable for me.
Unfortunately with the NHS is at capacity we were only able to access one physio visit, which was a 25 min appointment, I was desperate to give my dad back the independence he so needed and deserved.
Martin has worked with my dad over several visits now, starting with a frame, then walking stick, helping him experience walking inside and out, supporting him getting in and out of the car, he has had exercises which the care home team have been supporting him with.
We are again able to take him out and about with us, bring him to our home for visits and he has the independence to be able to choose to sit in his own room or the lounge because he is back to full mobility, his delirium has also settled.
I know this could easily have gone the other way, I am so grateful to Martin for taking on our case, and so delighted to have found that you offer this service.
