This was a first experience. We didn't want to risk taking our Rollator in the Hold of the Plane, so hired through this company. Delivered before we arrived and collected after we left 8 days later. We were a bit nonplussed to be greeted by a huge box imagining an evening of building an IKEA type Rollator but this was not the case. It was just a folded down item and easy to deal with.

My husband and I are both wheelchair users and we ordered a self propelled shower chair for 3 nights while in Paris. The cost was ridiculous to begin with at over £330 however as it is a necessity for us we paid it. We ordered the equipment months in advance of the trip and we're expecting the shower chair to be delivered at 5pm, it wasn't however when I contacted the company they stated that the delivery driver had lots of orders and it would be delivered after 8pm. We got back to the room after 11pm and the shower chair wasn't self propelling and therefore was unusable for us. I contacted the company to be told that they don't have a self propelled available even though the website was still showing availability for the days we were there. They apologised and said the supplier hadn't told them there wasn't a self propelled chair available. That's just not acceptable when people are relying on equipment. My husband ended up not eating for the time we were there as he wasn't able to go to the toilet or shower. There was no attempt by the company to rectify the problem, they just said sorry they didn't know. If you rent equipment which people rely on, you need to make sure you can deliver or at least sort the problem out!!! Shocking!! DO NOT USE!

Great company offering exactly what you need when on holiday. Everything was delivered and pick-up as promiseed. Would recommend.

Very helpful and efficient. Scooter delivered to our door in Portugal where we were on holiday at the time arranged. Slight problem towards end of holiday when the battery died on the scooter however the scooter was replaced with a different scooter within a few hours with no fuss at all. Would definitely use again

We needed to hire a mobile hoist for our holiday in Antalya, Turkey, marking the first time we rented mobility equipment outside the UK. Initially, we were quite apprehensive about how it would go. However, after reaching out to Mobility Equipment Hire Direct, our concerns were eased. The booking process was seamless, and we were promptly given the contact details of a local supplier in Turkey.

The hoist was delivered to our resort on time, was in excellent working condition, and the return process was equally hassle-free. The company collected the hoist from the reception after we checked out and headed to the airport. Thanks to the reliable equipment and service, we were able to fully enjoy the beautiful weather and manage our stay with ease."

Had trouble with the hotel as they said they would not accept the hoist I had hired but thanks to this company they contacted the hotel and now they going to accept the hoist wouldn’t hesitate to use this company again they are so friendly one happy customer

Although Malta is not ideal for the disabled the Scooter we rented was up to the task - it took the Malta roads with ease , the turning circle was great and I can’t recommend them enough.

We have just been on holiday in Mellieha, Malta and rented a manual wheelchair through them.

It was ready when we arrived at our hotel, and it was clean, comfortable and easy to use.

The only issue we had ,was a bit of confusion when we went to pick it up at the reception of our hotel because it was hired in my name (user) but was registrered in my mothers name because she had bought the tickets.

Once we had spoken to Star mobility (the local supplier) the issue was cleared up and we were ready to go.

Disappointed in the service received & like others, wish we'd read these reviews 1st!

Ordered a portable mobility scooter for less than one week, fully appreciating the hire is for a week, & duly paying in full. However, received an email the following day to say the order had been cancelled and refunded as we live too far from the delivery centre and it is too short notice!?!

Very disappointed that this company are using suppliers that can't deliver what is being promised and wouldn't recommend using these for a trip in the UK as it could potentially ruin your plans!

Have given one star as refund has been processed in full.

We appreciate supply may be limited but why does the website show availability for items that suppliers are unable to fulfil? When the delivery location is added, why can the order be placed if it is "too far" to deliver?

As I did acknowledge in the original post, the refund was made in full very quickly, which was the reason for one star.

I recently used Mobility Equipment Hire Direct for a trip to Lisbon. While they were helpful before I left, and the equipment was ready at my hotel, I had mixed feelings about the overall experience. The mobility buggy significantly improved my ability to explore, but I've noticed some inconsistencies in their services based on others' accounts. There seems to be a need for improved customer service and clarity regarding payment and refunds. Overall, it was an average experience.

Brilliant &expident delivery of service, Staff checked continously with suppliers to help me get a scooter. I'm recently married and I tore ligaments in right knee on my second night in Albuferia ... rendering my ambitions of stress free honeymoon useless. However Mobility equipment hire direct did not let me down. Sorted a mobility scooter and at extreme short notice! Best costumer service going!

Easy to contact, my commode was in my room on arrival. although one of the foot plates tended to swing out, due to age, I was so happy to be treated with respect up to the picking up of the equipment. Strongly recommend.

Just brilliant! Delivered scooters on time and correspondence was first class. The scooters were great for my parents whilst in Vilamoura.

Just returned from holiday in Lisbon and had hired a mobility buggy while there. Mobility Equipment Hire Direct were very helpful prior to going and buggy was waiting on me when I arrived at hotel. I was able to get out and about more easily with buggy than I would have using my wheelchair. Thanks for all your help and support which made my visit to Lisbon much more enjoyable.

I ordered and paid for mobility scooter hire for our holiday. They took payment but then the following day emailed to day no scooter was available and that they would refund the full amount. I received a refund but not the full amount. I have been trying to get on contact with them to resolve the issue but they will not respond other than to send one email saying that the amount not refunded was a PayPal transaction cost which they've passed on to me. Awful customer service.

Just what we needed. We hired a wheelchair and it was delivered to our hotel and waiting for us when we arrived. Fantastic!

I travelled to Spain and hired a hoist for the time there. I called the abroad number for mobility equipment hire direct to help with the issues. The issues were resolved efficiently and I was happy with the outcome. Thank you for service and help provided.

I hired a heavy duty mobility scooter for 1 week; 27/4/2024, for use in Albufeira, Portugal. I contacted the manager of the apartment, to check that he was willing to receive the scooter ( which he was) and booked it. On arrival the scooter was waiting for me and I had a suitable accommodation on the ground floor. Having the scooter transformed my holiday and I was able to get out and about the area.
Fortunately I hired the heavy duty scooter. I don’t know how a lighter weight one would have coped with the cobbles and uneven ground. After my first outing, I wasn’t feeling very confident or comfortable, but I did go out every day and found ways to be more comfortable.
The pavements, kerbs, and road surfaces are not conducive for people who are in too much pain. At times I had extra distance to travel to find somewhere to mount or dismount onto the ground.
Fortunately people in Portugal are very friendly and go out of their way to help…( when I got lost on my adventures).
Being able to hire the mobility scooter really transformed my holiday into something special.
