Highly recommend Alan and his tutoring team!

We had been searching for a tutor for our son after his Nat 5 Prelim result was much lower than expected, despite being initially a little sceptical about an ‘online’ tutor the experience with Alan was professional, really well organised and well suited to our son’s age demographic with it being done via Zoom and video sessions.
Our son quickly got into a routine with the lessons and found the ability to watch these back as many times as he wanted a great resource, not something you can do in School lessons or with an in person tutor.
In addition to the sessions he did Quiz’s and was able to carry out mock exams – there was also regular guidance on being able to understand and identify questions which he really seemed to benefit from.

Our son went on to achieve a B in the Nat 5 exam, so from 33% at Prelim this was a fantastic improvement and thanks to Alan’s help.

For anyone thinking about Alan Marshall for their son/daughter I would go for it – we have signed up our son for Higher Maths this year and will likely do the same for our Daughters in the future too!

Maths was something I was never awful at but in order to achieve the result I was aiming for in my exams I did need some support. Alan Marshall Tutoring provided the help I was looking for: my questions about certain topics within the subject were answered in a way I understood and I was never anxious about feeling silly about asking.

The live lessons are organised, interactive, and most importantly, everything you need to know is covered. A positive about these lessons is they are anonymous to others which allows you to ask questions without fear of being judged. The other aspects included in the course, like the quizzes, worksheets and are so helpful for practising and understanding what you have learned.

In the end, I did achieve an A in NAT 5 maths and I am extremely grateful to Alan Marshall and the other tutors for their help and patience throughout the course.

If you are a student who is struggling or a parent seeking help for their child, I would absolutely recommend signing up for AMMT.

We've had a great experience with Alan Marshall Tutoring. The format worked really well for my son. A positive was staying anonymous during the online classes, this provided comfort and made participation less intimidating. Another feature my son found beneficial was being able to rewatch lesson videos anytime, which really helped consolidate learning. The tutor encouraged questions and created a supportive environment. I was also impressed with the amount of additional classes provided throughout study leave. With support from Alan, alongside the belief from his class teacher and the effort my son put in, he went from failing 3 prelims to getting an A. We can’t thank everyone enough! I was extremely frustrated with maths prior to starting tutoring. I struggled to grasp certain topics and never tested well. After attending the information sessions I felt positive to get started. The math lessons were clearly explained and well paced, giving plenty of time to process the information. I found it beneficial being able to revisit the content through recorded videos, especially subjects I found challenging. While the tutoring was a great support, it’s important to remember that success also depends on putting in additional effort outside tutoring lessons, which Alan promoted. Overall, a very effective and helpful experience. After continuously failing throughout the year I was aiming for a pass, to get an A was the best reward of all!

I saw a post from Alan Marshall Tutoring on Facebook and, after attending a session about the tutoring options, decided to enrol my son in the course.

He had been struggling with his National 5 maths and needed a bit more coaching to fully understand all the different topics and, importantly, to feel confident when taking the exam.

We enrolled in September '24 and found that the structure of the course with twice weekly lessons had a very positive impact and meant that our son was able to learn and revise from an early point - well before the pressure of prelims began to loom.

Our son attended a number of the live lessons but mostly used the recorded lessons to go over topics that were proving more problematic.

He was absolutely delighted to be awarded a B in Maths this year - something that had looked very unlikely this time last year.

We found working with AMMT to be a very positive experience. There is always someone on hand during the live lessons to answer questions and I sent a number of queries to Alan, which were always answered promptly.

I am more than happy to recommend AMMT. The course gave our son access to a highly qualified tutor who clearly and confidently explained the requirements of the Nat 5 exam. And, by having access to the recordings, ensured that any difficult areas could be viewed again.

My son was struggling in Maths and had failed his Nat 5 prelim (28%) He was upset when he was advised he would have to repeat Nat 5 Matjs before he even sat the exam.
We watched an Alan Marshall and spoke to Alan (who is very approachable and responds to questions very quickly) who inspired us with confidence.
We enrolled our son in March 2024. 8 weeks before the exam, and he achieved a B in his Nat 5. He then continued with Alan's course and has just achieved a B in his Higher Maths which is amazing. These results would not have been achieved without this course.
Recorded lessons which allow pupils to go over topics step by step are invaluable.
1-1s weekly where a tutor works with you on your choice of topic or area of difficulty. Weekly feedback on submitted work. Individualised prelim papers. I could mention so much more about this course and cannot recommend it highly enough.
It is a very innovative way to work with pupils in Maths which is not simply conventional.tutoring but goes so much further than this. The results of this programme are a testament to the diligence of Alan and his team.

My daughter was working very hard, despite feeling confused (at best) during Maths at school, and achieving average-ish results which not reflect her effort, stress or upset. The night we signed up with Alan was the beginning of a new chapter in our daughter’s education. Immediately, she felt she wasn’t alone in her battle to understand Maths. The lessons, quizzes, 1-1 tutelage and WhatsApp groups are all great tools to teach with (didn’t use the recordings as much as she expected), but the mentoring and support which is in place is second to none. My daughter grew in confidence from the outset. She has applied Alan and his team’s expertise across her subjects and has achieved 8 As at National 5 level; but Maths is the A she is most proud of because she just ‘gets it’ and is no longer intimidated by Maths.
She would never have achieved her As without working with AMMT, she would not have had the time or mental stamina to apply herself to all her other courses because Maths was becoming an all consuming brain drain.
AMMT is no small commitment, financially, mentally and time wise; the reward is immense. I have signed my daughter up to do Higher Maths this year without a qualm and she is happy to undertake it; unimaginable a year ago. As a parent, I would recommend AMMT to anyone, I have done so already to many friends.

My son was really struggling with Higher Maths last year when he ended up with a D. I knew he needed more support, so I signed him up for the basic package with Alan Marshall Tutoring. There were a variety of packages for the online group sessions, and we found one that was affordable and effective.

The tutor was so accommodating and flexible, and the communication was excellent throughout.

The live online group sessions (with recordings if you missed one), clear explanations, and regular practice made all the difference. My son went into his exams confident and was more than happy to find out this week he passed with an A. More importantly, he now feels he really understands Maths.

I’m already recommending Alan Marshall Tutoring to others — even to families whose children have had one-to-one tutoring but never achieved results like this. My son did put in the effort though and the tutoring won’t be a magic fix without this.

I first reached out to Alan when I had a bad prelim result. I then signed up for tutoring and through the zoom calls, tests and quizzes I consolidated my knowledge and I achieved the results at national 5 and higher with Alan. Things that benefited me was the live and recorded lessons so I could see the steps and with the live lessons any questions I had. I could ask and with the recorded lessons I could always go back and look at topics I struggled on. I signed up to a plan where a WhatsApp chat was there so any problems or questions the chat was there to help. Finally I'll say any student or parent thinking about signing up I would definitely do it just the overall quality of teaching as well with Alan in the live lessons if you don't get it he will always go back and try to teach a different way to suit your needs.
