Terrible quality and terrible customer service
Terrible quality and customer service. Had to fight for my refund!
I would strongly recommend avoiding Maria Sydney.
I ordered a dress for nearly $70 that looked lovely online, but what arrived was nothing like the photos. The fabric was completely different, the waistband and buttons were not as advertised, the quality was terrible, and it had a strong chemical smell. Honestly, I’ve purchased better quality clothing from SHEIN and Temu at a fraction of the price! For a dress costing nearly $70, I expected MUCH better.
What followed was an absolutely ridiculous and exhausting process trying to get my money back.
Despite sending photographic evidence showing how different the dress was from what was advertised, they repeatedly refused to provide a full refund. Instead, they kept coming back with offers of 10% or 15% refunds if I kept the dress, or 80% store credit. Every time I explained that the product was not as advertised and requested a full refund, I seemed to receive another email pushing an alternative I’d already rejected.
After numerous emails back and forth, they FINALLY agreed to a full refund and confirmed in writing that they would cover the return postage.
But even that wasn’t the end of it!
When I followed up for return instructions, they went back on their agreement and told me I would have to pay for return postage myself, to an address in CHINA! This was despite previously confirming that they would cover the cost. The postage was going to be around $30 for a dress that cost nearly $70.
I then had to continue arguing my case, repeating the same information and reminding them of their obligations. It genuinely felt like they were trying to wear me down until I gave up and accepted one of their insulting partial refund offers.
I did EVENTUALLY receive a full refund, but only after an unreasonable amount of time, effort and emails. The number of times I had to contact them and repeat myself was absolutely ridiculous. A straightforward refund for an item that was clearly not as advertised should never have been this difficult.
The whole experience was incredibly frustrating. Between the poor-quality product, misleading photos, endless emails, repeated attempts to avoid a full refund and changing return conditions, I would never purchase from this business again.
Please do your research before ordering from Maria Sydney. Don’t be fooled by the polished website and Australian branding.
