WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN AUSTRALIA

I'm experiencing the worst customer service ever with LG Australia. My husband bought me a new LG StanbyME Monitor/TV directly from their official website. The product arrived on Friday, and our initial excitement quickly turned to frustration. From the moment we assembled it, the battery showed serious problems — draining unusually fast. We left it charging overnight, yet in the morning, the TV remained at 1% battery level. After turning it off and on and re-plugging it several times, it finally charged. However, during Saturday's use, the battery died in less than 3 hours, far short of its advertised duration. Another overnight charge resulted in the same issue — stuck at 1% battery level for the past 48 hours. The product is clearly faulty and won't function properly despite our troubleshooting attempts.

I initially contacted LG's customer service through their chat function on Sunday afternoon. Klarenz, who handled my case with a condescending attitude, merely logged a case number without providing any actual help. When I called their center, I discovered it was overseas, and the representative could barely explain the process — simply directing me to send an email, which I did. Today, I tried their WhatsApp service. While one agent seemed somewhat helpful and promised a callback about returning the product, 12 hours passed with no contact. When I followed up on WhatsApp, another dismissive agent, Julian, merely repeated that I should wait for the call or send an email — something I'd already done.

These interactions highlight LG's inadequate customer service and violation of my consumer rights. As this fault occurred within days of delivery, it constitutes a major failure under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Consumers are entitled to a remedy when a product is not of acceptable quality, is not fit for purpose, or has a serious defect. In such cases, the customer has the right to choose a replacement or refund.

After insisting via chat that I wouldn't stop contacting them until I received a callback, I finally got one — from overseas again. The call quality was terrible, with background noise from babies and what sounded like wind on a boat, the woman who I talked to was working from home but was very clear the lack of professionalism in her job. After an irritating 30-minute conversation, I was told to wait up to a week for an email about TV pickup, and that I wouldn't receive a refund until they received the unit.

This situation would be entirely different with an Australian retailer like JB Hi-Fi or Harvey Norman, where I'd receive an immediate refund upon reporting a faulty product. Instead, LG has turned this into a nightmare with their outsourced, subpar customer service. It's absurd that I'm experiencing such stress simply because this company can't provide decent customer support. I strongly advise against purchasing directly from LG or their products through any retailer unless you're prepared to deal with AUSTRALIA'S WORST customer service.

Shocking LG Warranty Service

Shocking LG Warranty Service – Refused to Replace Broken Part on $899 Vacuum
I’ve been a loyal LG customer for many years, but this experience has completely changed my view of the brand.
While using our LG vacuum cleaner — which cost a hefty $899 — the stick cracked during normal use. There was no accident, no abuse, just standard household vacuuming. The vacuum is still well within its 2-year warranty period, so naturally, we reached out to LG support expecting a simple repair or replacement of the broken part.
To our absolute disappointment, LG has refused to honour the warranty and replace the cracked stick. Their customer service has been unhelpful and dismissive, leaving us with an expensive vacuum that is now very difficult for my elderly father to use. It’s not a complex issue — it’s just a cracked stick that should be easy to replace on a premium machine that should never have broken like this in the first place.
I have had a Samsung washing machine that was out of warranty by a year yet they were able to provide a small part and a service technician out of goodwill to us. Cannot say the same for LG
To add insult to injury, this has left a 90-year-old man with a broken vacuum after paying a premium price for what was marketed as a durable, high-end appliance. It’s appalling.
This kind of treatment is unacceptable, and I want others to know what they’re getting into when they choose LG. If a company won’t even stand by their warranty for something as simple as a structural defect, how can we trust them with anything?
I will not be buying another LG product again, and I advise others to look elsewhere if you value reliability — both in product quality and customer service.

The LG dishwasher has broken down for…

The LG dishwasher has broken down for the second time in the warranty period.
This time close to the end of the warranty. Bought at Betha Living Castlemaine. Reported the breakdown about a month ag. Finaly, I have been informed that it will be another waiting on spare parts! Obviously when it breaks dawn again. HE WARRANTY WILL BE NULL AND VOID

Don't buy LG TV or soundbar!

Product doesn't work (loses wi-fi connection, soundbar stops working, TV resets itself, several functions don't work) and the support is useless (e.g. "try a different cable", "check the connections", etc.).
Hands down worst product I've ever bought.

Zero customer service, zero regard for Consumer Law

I've bought multiple LG TVs, sound bars, washing machine, fridge and microwave. I will never buy another LG product ever again.
Zero regard for Australian Consumer Law, zero customer service from people who don't listen to you and just read off a script. They do not care about the customer at all and have incompetant staff.
Absolutely horrible experience.

LG Australia has no customer service

Bought a new LG Clothes Dryer recently. Plugged it in and turned it on. Nothing happened. Checked and repeated about 25 times. Dead as a doornail. Called retailer and LG. No support or assistance from either of them. Absolutely no customer service. They have my money and I have a lemon.

Bought the LG NEOChef smart microwave

Bought the LG microwave. It’s slightly more expensive but I wanted it because of its colour and sleek aesthetic. Unfortunately to manually adjust the time I have to increase or decrease the time by 30 seconds increment which is just too inconvenient!

My $3500 lg fridge freezer with a 10…

My $3500 lg fridge freezer with a 10 year compressor warranty..7 years in the gas is leaking..$800 to fix. The compressor is gone..under warranty but we have to pay for labour and transport. Definitely not as good as the old days. From now on just buy a 2nd hand one and let someone else pay the big dollars. Fridges should last a life time.

Whatever you do, don't buy LG washing machines

Service is poor, customer service is as poor as it gets. Their technicians will keep replacing parts and only guessing what the issue is.

Creating unnecessary plastic waste

Disappointed because we purchased a television recently and it came with an absurd amount of polystyrene. Its 2023 if apple, dyson and ikea can basically eliminate polystyrene from their packaging LG should be able to do the same. It speaks volumes about lg that they do not care about the plastic waste problem.

The worst VCR for your home

On Wednesday 27th April 2022 my Mum purchased a LG DVD-VHS Combo Player – DC593W for me so I could transfer VCR to Digital but I wouldn't recommend purchasing one because the quality and sound is very poor.

CUSTOMER SERVICE PHILIPPINES BASED CALL CENTRE FULL OF OBFUSCATION AND DUMB -80 IQ PERSONAL.
CHEAPSKATE COMPANY, CRAP CUSTOMER SERVICE, THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THEM IS THEIR CONTRACTOR FOR SERVICING, AUSTRALIAN ALL WHITE GOODS.
THE PROBLEM WITH AUSTRALIA IS YOU WOULDN'T GET AWAY WITH THIS TYPE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IN EUROPE THE UK AND NORTH AMERICA.
MOST COMPANIES IN AUSTRALIA DO. NOT TRIANM THEIR FRONT OF HOUSE RECEPTION AND ADMIN STAFF AND GIVE JOBS TO THE MINUS 80 IQ CONTINGENT THAT IS RAMPANT ACROSS AUSTRALIA AND THE MOST LARGE COMPANIES INCLUDING THE POLICE FORCES WHO ARE NOW RECRUITING KIDS IN DIAPERS. WELL THEY ARE IN NSW.

My LG Smart UHD TV died after 4 years

My LG Smart UHD TV died after 4 years. I expected more than 4 years of service from a new TV. LG says this is a reasonable period of time. It's now an expensive paperweight. If you expect your Smart UHD TV to last longer than 4 years, then I'd be avoiding LG. I wonder how the 5 year extended warranty providers fare if its reasonable for an LG TV to only last 4 years. My TV proved to be a bad product in terms of longevity and durability and LG's after sales service is sadly lacking.

Huge shout out to LG who didn’t have to repair my fridge because it was out of warranty but did so anyway. technical service has been excellent and as a result of their terrificservice I’ve gone out and bought another LG appliance in the form of a washing machine.

L G If I could give minus stars I would as not deserves Plus stars.

Poor company to deal with as give such a worthless warranty you might as well not have a warranty.

Keep clear of LG Products as there service sucks.
Here is what I experienced from LG
I have a LG Instaview Fridge Freezer. GF570 PNL Approx 9 months old.

I have problem with load noise from Compressor when running.
I contacted LG Support and advised the noise does not always happen as can hear from one end of house to other end.

LG support said record noise and we will send tech out to check it out as intermittent.
The LG Technician came out and I played back recorded noise and also fridge was making the noise as well.
He did a few things and was ok for about 24 Hours and the noise started again so rung LG back who said they would send another Technician out.
They sent another Technician that came out a few days later.
The fridge was not making noise at the time of his call.

But I played Video of the Noise and he took of back of fridge and had a look.
He shake'd a number of things around which made a load thumping noise.

Then he listened to my Video of noise again.
He screwed back on with cordless screwdriver that does not have a clutch that slips when screws tightened then said as no Fault apparent there will be a service Charge

I thought what this is only about 9 months old
He wrote on docket Tested for Noise. No Fault Found.
I immediately wrote on docket . Showed Video of Noise.
Then presented me a bill for $160 which i was forced to pay.
I said to him if there is no more noise again do I get my $160 back for 10 minutes work.
He didnt comment.
Now about 3 weeks later the noise has not come back so obviously he fixed something and failed to mention it so he could justify making a fee for his time.
I made a note on repair docket that I played back Video of noise.
I demand my money back as should of been a warranty claim considering he fixed it.
If this is LGs Warranty service as its a warranty that is not a warranty.
Come to the Party LG and refund my under warranty claim.
P.S I didnt call second technician for nothing.
I waited about 3 months for a reply from LG and they finally replied and said no fault found so that is reason for the Charge for service.
If Could add the Noise here I would but I recommend to Avoid LG as meaning of
LG = Lack of Guarantee.
Edit.
Update. Now January 10th 2023 which is about 4 months after last technicians visit and noise has not reappeared, proving that technician did something without saying to collect a service call fee.

Awesome Product - Fit for Purpose

Our trusty 15yr old side-by-side fridge died and needed a replacement. The main option was just getting another side-by-side or give the French door style a go. With lots of choices from various makes and models, we decided for this LG 637L 4-door French Door Refrigerator with ThinQ technology. 11 months passed, I can definitely say the new fridge is more suited for our needs. Just to name a few, we are now benefiting from an ample/wider shelf space and bigger freezer storages compared to a similar sized side-by-side fridge.

Aside from a great looking matte black colour fridge, other positives are the: (i) slimly built ice and water dispensers behind the left door still accommodated a slim shelf good for sauces and salad dressings, etc.; (ii) with the soft-touch function keys that made it easy to use and set-up the fridge temperature, reset the water and air filters; (iii) items placed on the door with deep divided shelves are kept cold with the door cooling design; (iv) fruit and veggie drawers [which are on rollers] keep the items fresh longer; (v) provisioning of a shelf for tall bottles and two extra snack storages at the fridge bottom area; (vi) the three bright LEDs [one on top and two on both sides] illuminate the entire fridge helping you to easily find what you need; (vii) the freezer LEDs are located under the fridge doors which lights up the freezer from the front for ease when pulling the freezer drawers [which are also all on rollers]; (viii) easily replaceable water filter and air purifier to control fridge water quality and odours; (ix) plumbed-in ice/crushed ice had never been clogged up and fused together while although water is not, the water and ice dispensers is very handy and kept the fridge mostly closed; (x) overall the fridge shelves and drawers seemed smooth, easy to remove and clean; (xi) the outer matte finish does not readily attract dirt or finger prints.

The negatives are minor like the; (i) doors slums shut if not held properly; (ii) ice/water dispenser tray and bottom left indoor freezer handle hold on to dirt more easily than other areas. Our experience with this model is there no point in paying extra for the door-in-door and LCD-screen door models as this fridge’s performance is the same in my opinion and much less part to worry about. My only concern now is its long jeopardy - that is the greater of all test!

Note: The fridge’s doors (front side) is more curved that it actually is shown in the photo.

Terrible warranty service - LG Front Loader Thin Q…

Purchased a LG Front Loader ThinQ washer. Less than 2 months in, the machine stopped draining, continuously errors out. Contacted LG to arrange for repair, now a month later and still no luck. Number of follow ups between LG and their authorised repair service provider and they just pass the buck between each other - service repair provider still waiting for parts, LG waiting for service provider and still no idea when anything will get fixed.

I purchased an LG surround sound system…

I purchased an LG surround sound system from JB HiFi on the recommendation of the staff member as I just bought a new SONY 75" TV. The sound bar is a 3 speaker + subwoofer and is absolute garbage, the subwoofer drops out every few minutes and the sound is then terrible. Tried taking it back to JB HiFi but they said it would be four weeks to look at, terrible service when you've just spent thousands in store. Buy another brand of surround sound system.
