Parked at Blackheath Grove Car Park and…
Parked at Blackheath Grove Car Park and properly paid for four hours parking using the PayByPhine(as the sign said) app at 1 pm today. Have evidence and car was parked properly and still got a ticket from Lewisham Council for £130 at1.40 when I had more than 3 hours left to go. It’s fraudulent behaviour when they know that people have already paid. They hope people won’t take the time to appeal and just pay again. It’s CRIMINAL and greedy behaviour by Lewisham Council. The car park fees are also daylight robbery. They should be held to account by the Courts. The parking attendants are committing Fraud!
Nonchalant attitude
My experience with Lewisham council, spans back 20 years. With the exception of the planning department whereby my experience was perfect!
I've experienced staff members in the council tax department that lack customer service skills and manners when handling calls and queries. I've experienced a torrid time with Lewisham council as freeholders, and the best thing that they did, was to handover the freeholds to L&Q.
The problem with Lewisham council, is that they have a dedicated contact number/email for tenants in regards to landlords disrepair, but they don't have the same platform for landlords.
For example, if a tenant had an issue with damp, mould and condensation, the tenant should report this to the landlord in accordance with the terms and conditions of ast agreement. However if the landlord only discovers damp, mould and condensation via a routine mid-term inspection and then addresses any/every issues on the report, the tenant should show some appreciation that the landlord is acting quickly.
What happens when the landlord resolves all of the above problems, with proof and confirmation of works carried out, sends the tenant a dehumidifier and guidelines on damp, mould and condensation, but the tenant doesn't use the brand new dehumidifier that has been in the box for 6 months and doesn't ventilate the room as instructed since June 2022 to date when new windows were fitted?
When you call the same person from Lewisham that sourced the tenant, explaining the situation and making reference to Waab Ishtak, suggesting that someone should come down now, asap to observe the situation, it is at this moment, you realise that no one in the council really gives a sh**!
It's just a job.
You'll exhaust all the avenues, trying to contact Lewisham councils disrepair dept, Lewisham Housing, PSL, sending them case studies, highlighting what you've done, and 6 months, 1 year and 18 months will pass by and nothing is done!
When you're dealing with a tenant whose child has asthma, you need to cover yourself and ensure that you're following the correct protocols.
What happens when the tenant also has a nonchalant attitude, and you think okay, maybe I actually care more about the welfare of your child's health than you do!
I will tell you when Lewisham council will eventually respond. They will respond at the time when its fatal or at worst death!
All of a sudden, you'll discover that a manager does exist in this non-existing department.
Mark my word, that they will try and use the landlord as a scapegoat.
I will welcome them to try that please, because any judge in England, would see and state that I've gone beyond the call of duty, and the people that will be accountable would be the tenant and Lewisham council!
Another problem I have, is with this incentive scheme that Lewisham provide to Landlord's. The £4,500 package received by landlord's, does not guarantee a tenant that they're going to have a good landlord and vice versa.
In reality, this package is just sweet and sour. In that I mean is sweet when you receive the funds, but what happens when your left with a tenant who clearly isn't a fit and proper person?
As a landlord, it is our obligation by law to provide all tenants with the following before commencement of an ast agreement;
1) How to rent guide
2) EPC
3) Landlord's gas certificate
4) Deposit Protection Certificate & Prescribed Info
5) landlord's Licensing (If applicable)
6) General Data Protection Regulation Letter/Notice
7) Ast Agreement/Addendum to add clauses
8) EICR report
Failure to do any of the above can results in heavy fines for each one.
The problem here, is after the landlord has provided all of the above documents, the tenant just turns up with a deposit, proof of 'Right to rent' checks and references.
Moving forward, especially with the proposed 'Renters reform bill' it should be made mandatory and statutory that all tenants provide a landlord with;
1) "Tenant's insurance."
2) Confirmation of a basic tenants awareness course certificate/card that confirms "this tenant has completed 20 hrs of competent testing," confirming issues of damp, rent arrears, responding to eviction notices, disrepairs, servicing of boilers, MVHR's, pressurised hot water cylinder servicing etc.
Tenants need to be educated in the same manner landlords are.
Lastly, rather than give a landlord £4,500, you should take at least £1,000 to £1.500 from that incentive and use it to run special courses on training up your tenants to be aware of procedures applicable to the tenancy agreements they sign!!!

In a misguided attempt to drive down costs through reducing staffing this council has attempted to modernize. However the automated telephone system and website just isn't fit for purpose. Its virtually impossible to speak to any Public Servant!!!!!.

At 11:09 the lady answered my call she was very rude and she didn't listen to me and just say go online and hang up .what's a customer service how can they let her represent the council .is a shame for people of lewisham .

Ever so incompetent and greedy Lewisham
Imagine me waking up to a flimsy filthy tea stained letter from an incompetent Lewisham Council Tax department. The letter states I owe money although I’ve been paying a little extra in advance. Certain staff in that department obviously cannot read. It’s easy to blame it on the computer but how is it possible to send someone a reminder when the bank transaction and serial number shows you’ve received the payments. Get it together you lazy louts.
Deception
My garden waste bin has not been emptied for 2 weeks. I have paid for the service the council advertising is deceptive it says they take fallen fruit but the bin men refuse.
Filthy and money suckers
Underpaying staff = no one to collect the trash in time. After several contacts and complaints, they keep ignoring me. Council tax rates are completely ridiculous for what you get within here. It came to a point that's gross to drop the bin - the flees flying over the poo and the dump of old furniture at my doorstep are disgusting. Meanwhile I see lots of beautiful adverts on recycling but that's only empty talk. That's why I'm cancelling my direct debit payment of the monthly tax - and I don't give a toss about it. Screw you, folks.
Disgusting attitude from phone service operators
I can honestly say I’ve never had a worse experience on the phone to any company or institution. We were trying to address a discrepancy with our council tax, and the gentleman we spoke to was extremely rude, interrupted us multiple times, and hung up the call almost completely unprompted.
Vile attitude
Vile attitude. The most laziest, rudest, egotistical staff ever. Disgusting behaviour. They don't care if you're sick, dying, disabled or in need. They relish in other people's pain. No matter what department you pick, you'll be lied to, insulted, accused and belittled. The complaints department is corrupt. Council Tax are the worst of the lowest pondscum. The staff give humans a bad name. Truly spiteful people with no class. Why are they still getting away with such bad performance? They just don't care.

I did not stop but the council cctv is not positioned to prove my innocence.

Not the nicest people
Just been on the phone about council tax. I found the service rude; the person who attended me shut me out when I tried to speak and hang up on me without giving me all the details. Not a great experience for sure. I wish my council was Greenwich since I live in the border.
They don't care
Housing, council tax, repairs, social services, everything is a shambles. Have been waiting since January 2023 for an appointment for a roofing repair. Keep emailing(as you can't get through on the phone) and no update or appointment. They pretend to give a damn about peoples financial hardship but they don't. The blurb on their council tax bill says to contact them if you are having trouble paying but if you waste your time calling and eventually get through you will get NO help and simply be told that's the amount you have to pay so pay it. Social services have criminalised poverty. God forbid you have trouble accessing the services your children need and when those services are denied to you, you will be accused of neglect. But fall behind with your rent and they are very quick to send a threatening letter even when the rent arrears are their fault as they failed to notify the DWP(the DWP claimed Lewisham had not notified them, although I had also told the DWP about the rent change as I am required to) of the rent increase in time. Lewishams use of threats and bailiffs against residents in these times is a disgrace and a vindictive use of state violence. The trauma they are causing people is criminal. Labour(like Cons/Libs) are enemies of the people

Lewisham is the worst council you can ever live in!! I say that as a person who has lived in this area, for over 20 years. Lewisham council only care about them self, and no one else. I have the recordings to prove it, they are racist, and they don't care about us the people that pay their wages!!

Competences are still to be determined. Complaint raised in writing, no acknowledgement ever received, luckily this was sent Signed For, so it was received. Complaint raised via website weeks ago, no further communication received. How are you paid for a job when you fail to do it?
The Security Guard on the door was a delight
The Security Guard on the door was a gentleman called Sageer Rajah. I am disabled pensioner and arrived at the Library at 11:30 am when a notice said that all of the staff were at Training. So naturally I thought I would come back. But, I asked Sageer Rajah if he could help me as I wanted to print out 2 documents from my mobile phone which were urgent, plus collect a book reserved for me. Sageer said, he could help me and with great skill, calmness and dignity proceeded to print off the correct documents, retrieve my reserved book and give me a free copy of the latest book that Lewisham Library Reading Group are reading. I was delighted and only wish the Library staff were as helpful. As a disabled pensioner, I find that a few of the junior staff in particular are impatient and unwilling to help, stating they are too busy or cannot leave their desk, which is all nonsense of course. I worked for many years in the British Library so I know what good customer service is meant to be for readers. Thank you very much Sageer Rajah, I skipped out of there and was able to get on with the business of the day successfully because I had my print outs. Jane Shaw
Disgraceful
If I could less than 1 star I would. What can I say but Lewisham Council, mayor Egan and his council are just plain ignorant to the suffering of the people born in the borough and those even just living here. They do not help anyone who works and they can not house people who need it yet can take money to house immigrants causing children left homeless and bedless to suffer mentally as they feel like nothing in this borough. Imagine being a teenager and no matter how much your parents work they cannot give you a bed and these teens watch all the benefit ponces and immigrants get all the help they need in this borough as they have services for them but none for working families who are struggling. They do not respond to emails and then when attempt to lie. Everyone keep every piece of evidence you have against them, do not trust their word as it is likely to be false. Ignorance at its finest.
Awful borough
Awful borough. Lived there for over 7 years and it's the worst borough in the area. Better off in Bromley or Greenwich (where I now live instead). Expect to get parking violations when they put up temporary traffic lights causing traffic jams, bad bin collections, awful sewage and water works, road works all the time, everywhere, bad roads, overcrowding, can't get through on the phones. It's a mess.

When you finally do get through They pass you from pillar to post, saying you’ve come through to the wrong department!!!!!!! Now having to go through solicitors and the court to get them out!
