LBC, utter contempt for listeners, can't have your say anymore.

Unlike some of the reviews (which appear to be for a Courier company not a radio station) are my own experience.

The real issue for me is how they treat you when you call, with complete and utter disdain. The producers treat you like cattle, they have told me at times to change my story in order to get on air (leaning toward their bias).

Recently I called, again told "can you just say X and not mention Y" when Y was the issue in the news.

So I agreed, I was the first person to call, but they kept me waiting a full 56 minutes, only to tell me the show was ending. They said that there was another show coming on after the news and if I could somehow change the reason I called into a Question to their panel I could stay holding.

I did not really understand, the idea is that it is LBC, their moniker is "have your say" but that must have changed. Anyway, when I said I was not sure as I had already been kept waiting for 55 minutes the producer did not say "sorry about that" "Sorry we know you were the first to call on the subject we started in this hour and we left you holding" no she just hung up on me. She did not call me back and I have not called since.

The contempt to caller and listeners continues.

LBC allows obviously fake narratives to be discussed as if they are fact, it does not matter on the issue, they just let it be aired. For example, after four years of war since Russia invaded Ukraine, you would expect LBC to have a crib sheet for presenters to challenge lies. You would expect the producers to be the first line of defence in stopping lies being transmitted. You would also expect that LBC would blacklist people who call up with those lies.

Then we come to the App, LBC advertisers should take note of this.

First of all the app is truly awful, the layout is awful, the navigation is awful, you have to change menu option scroll past rubbish you are not interested in just to get to the schedule, something that should be pinned to one of the 5 buttons at the bottom.

When you use catchup there are further problems, if you subscribe to say your 8 favourite presenters, but have automatic downloads turned OFF, it still downloads them and fills your phone with all these episodes. This led to me unsubscribing, which led to me not listening to LBC.

A really bad mistake in UI design is not to have view of a home page or the navigation on every screen, to load the episodes on catchup you have to tap top right rather than the menu options at the bottom. Then when you get there the navigation is GONE.

I was pleased when LBC announced a dedicated LBC app, the Global Radio app was dire as I previously explained.. So imagine my discontent when I downloaded the new LBC app only to find it is the came crappy Global app, that it is stuffed full of all the other Global stations which I will NEVER be interested in.

To add insult to injury both apps are stuffed with news and video, this slows down the app and it is NOT something I need or want.

The BBC have a NEWS app and a Sounds App, LBC should do the same. If you want a news app then knock yourself out and create one, just don't call it LBC radio app.

Finally the wokewash, LBC is probably second only to the BBC in wokewashing the company. Note the word woke has been stolen from the proper ethnic origins to mean politically correct (to be polite).

Now it is used by Extreme right and Extreme Left as well as disruptors like Trump and Musk.

My concern in how this wokewash applies to LBC is that they have recruited presenters who are diverse but poor at their job. Meanwhile the stalwart presenters are still there but have clearly been told to tone down their opinions. Except perhaps James o'Brian who os nothing more than a bully. I do not delight in seeing callers ridiculed, so I have not listened to him for years. I see his clips on YouTube and only load them to mark them down with a thumbs down.

Natasha Devon is another truly awful presenter with arguments and opinions that appear to be almost a form of self-flagellation.

Vanessa Feltz is no better, so once Ali Miraj is finished there is a huge 6 hour void. Nick Abbot is well past his sell by date.

Ironically LBC has real gems in the form of the Barristers who present the legal hour and the Consumer Hour, they are the second star in this review BUT we need the shows extended to 3 hours and on every night.

It would be easy to find other lawyers, then split each night into an area of law, e.g. Housing (Landlord Tenant and Housing Association), B2B Law, Energy Company disputes, Employment and another Consumer law midweek.

I feel this would provide larger audience than the boring Question rubbish Iain Dale hosts, a massive waste of Iain's skills.

Replacing Andrew Castle with Mathew Right was a mistake

Sadly LBC will not listen, they do not even engage with Trustpilot, but advertiser should take note, read the reviews .the writing is on the wall here.

Increasingly partisan

I doubt LBC can "improve" given their shut-down of listener complaints. There is no "Customer Complaints" at LBC! Ferrari and Dale endlessly berate the BBC at the first opportunity. OFCOM seldom respond to a complaint lodged against LBC (which are legion.) It's a shame for the more recondite presenters, and there are some. And why do LBC charge for phone texts when they don't even acknowledge receipt (let alone a response?) LBC in its day was an informative and innovative station. Sadly not now, with one or two exceptions. JC

I've been listening to LBC for many years, and it's frustrating to notice that the callers I hear mostly either agree with the presenter or are mocked and made to sound foolish. I've tried multiple times to share my views, only to be told they'll call me back or to be cut off altogether. I believe there's a lack of diverse opinions, which diminishes the richness of the discussion.

Nothing impartial about this bunch of bias self obsessed cretins.

Each one bought and paid for at different tables.

Most are rude and patronising when anyone gives a different take to theirs.

Used to listen a lot. Can't now, the absolute bias nonsense I hear makes my blood boil.

Sack them all and start again. Most are patronising, condescending and down right rude at times.

3 minutes of Vanessa Felz condescending BS to a listener because the listener didn't agree with her tall tale. Had to turn it off.

LBC – Not Leading Britain’s Conversation, Controlling It

This is my personal opinion as someone who has listened to LBC for many years. The station once claimed to give ordinary people a voice and let the public speak and be heard. What it does now is shape what people think by setting the limits of discussion and deciding which opinions are acceptable.

LBC has turned into a media go-between for Westminster and the public. Every major policy or controversy whether it’s welfare reform, immigration, taxation or climate targets is presented as open debate yet it always leads to the same conclusion: quiet acceptance of whatever has already been decided by government or its advisers.

You can hear it in how presenters frame their questions. They’ll ask whether a policy is being “rolled out too quickly” or “needs fairer balance” but never whether it’s fundamentally wrong. The same assumption always stands – that big government knows best and the public must adapt.

Take the small boat crossings for example. Day after day LBC talks about the dinghies coming across the Channel. Listeners are repeatedly told these people are professionals fleeing danger. Any attempt to question the legality or impact of these crossings brings either silence or moral lectures. The presenters sound more like campaigners than journalists. They guilt-trip anyone who questions the situation and act as if there is only one acceptable opinion.

The same pattern appears across every topic. Welfare reform debates never question whether the policies are unjust only whether they can be delivered more efficiently. Climate discussions ignore cost and practicality and focus on how soon measures can be forced through. Every subject is treated as settled before it starts. Anyone who challenges the framing is quickly labelled extreme or ignorant.

Many of the early and mid-day presenters make things worse. They invite callers to “have their say” then interrupt or talk over them as soon as a view appears that doesn’t match their own. It’s rude, patronising and transparent. Too many of them behave as though disagreement is beneath them.

LBC’s audience deserves far better. Listeners tune in expecting a real range of opinion yet get a recycled set of ideas that always support the same establishment view. The same “experts” and commentators are wheeled out to repeat what we’ve already heard a hundred times before. The public are there only to fill the gaps between adverts.

Over time this has worn people down. Listeners stop expecting honesty or variety and start repeating the same arguments they’ve absorbed from the presenters. It’s not open debate any more it’s conditioning by repetition. The trick is not censorship but exhaustion. If you hear one side often enough you eventually stop questioning it.

LBC once prided itself on challenging authority but now it feels like part of it. The debates sound rehearsed the outrage sounds managed and the final message always aligns with the same political agenda.

I once listened for the variety and genuine argument. Now it feels like one long lecture from people who already think they’re right. If you want honesty, fairness and free thought this isn’t where you’ll find it.

Rating: 1 star. LBC no longer leads Britain’s conversation. It controls it on behalf of those already in power.

Presenters that think they know it all.

Matthew Wright gets apologetic with rage and shuts down any listener if they try to give their views on migrants and immigration. It is so sickening to hear because listeners can never debate with him on any issues as he knows it all and the listener is stupid and dumb dumb dumb to him.Iain Dale is so rude and disrespectful to the viewer if the listener has a different view to him.I am surprised this man has not been taken off the air.Thats the whole point of LBC to debate and be able to express a different opinion.Nick Ferrari doesn’t seem to know a lot of facts on multiple occasions despite being a Journalist.Ian Payne all he does is waffle waffle waffle on and on about nothing nothing nothing. The presenter that is the best who I respect and never hear degrading or patronising the viewers is Clive Bull he’s the best presenter on LBC.

Insulting people with children

I really like to listen to Nick Ferrari but this morning I had to switch off. It was the usual conversation about child benefit and the callers plus Nick agreeing that people shouldn’t’t be paid for having children. That people would squander child benefit on booze, drugs and cigarettes. How judgemental is that and so insulting. I had my children in the late sixties. Family allowance then wasn’t given for the first child but for subsequent children. We had three. Goodness we couldn’t wait to have children to get the allowance or so we would be portrayed .It is very expensive bringing up a family. I used to save mine up to buy clothes and school uniforms. Don’t allow this program to insult people, it’s horrible.

Set-up a debate between Ferrari and o’Brien.

LBC - please set up a debate with a moderator (Marr would be good) between Ferrari and o’Brien. Imagine the combined total of regular listeners - they would all listen in. Advertisers would pay the max for a slot.

Personally I think Ferrari would wipe the fooor with o’Brien given he is level headed, doesn’t carry the burden of a destructive ego, takes a pragmatic not emotive approach to issues of the day, and is generally far more credible…but that’s just my opinion.

Go on do it…it makes sense.
