Khushi Kantha is an award-winning non-profit social enterprise. Our handmade textiles with a vibrant stand-out factor create opportunities for mothers in Bangladesh to provide for their children with dignity and contribute to the circular economy. We regenerate the Bengali ‘kantha’ tradition in order to meet global product safety standards, while retaining its circular principles and bringing the cultural heritage of Bangladesh to a wider audience. Founder Laura Rana was inspired to start Khushi Kantha by the birth of her half-British, half-Bangladeshi daughters and her long-standing dream to use everything she’s learned from many years of living and working in Bangladesh to help other mothers, whose position she could easily be in herself if circumstances were different. We partner with sustainability-minded members of the Bangladeshi garments industry to breathe new life into deadstock cotton fabric by upcycling it to line our products, which are hand-crafted from hand-woven hand-dyed 100% cotton and embroidered with empowerment by our artisans. After creating our first collection of Happy Blankets (vibrantly-coloured, reversible, multi-purpose baby blankets) through a successful crowdfunding campaign, we have recently expanded our product range to include dolly bedding, tote bags, pouch bags, cushion covers and wall hangings, as well as branching into wholesale. Our current number one priority is to build up our customer base, so we can broaden and deepen the impact we are having in the community where our products are hand-made.

SO HAPPY with my Happy blankets
Read about this wonderful company in the Positive news magazine and got in touch straight away and was involved in their crowdfunding. Ordered and received two beautiful Happy Blankets ‘Khushi Kantha’s and am so happy with them. Lovely knowing that by ordering them you are helping women in Bangladesh and also being able to experience the gifts of their culture. You can choose the colours and the pattern of stitching and get them customised. Communication was excellent throughout. The blankets are so versatile. Highly highly recommend!

Great from start to finish
Everything from start to finish has been amazing. Laura’s communication was excellent. She kept us up to date as the order progressed. The blankets are great, perfect to keep close to hand for sleeping, picnics, and even nappy changes etc. Well done to all involved.

Beautiful, soft baby blanket for a good cause
I bought this as a gift for a friend who has just had a baby, who has told me it's super soft and ideal for so many uses. The pattern is beautiful and the colours. She loved the fact it is "mother to mother". Ordering and delivery was very smooth and they even agreed to put a personalised note in so my friend knew who it was from (a lot of online order companies don't offer this). Very happy to be able to get a great gift for such an important cause. Thank you!!

I’m so delighted with my blanket from
Khushi Kantha and so happy to be supporting an extraordinary social enterprise. The blanket was lovely, I liked the colours and style and my daughter really enjoyed playing on it. It was packaged so beautifully in a sari bag and I really liked the hand stitched label which made it feel so personal. I would definitely recommend buying from Khushi Kantha!

I absolutely love our first Khushi Kantha!
I absolutely love my little boy’s hand made Khushi Kantha blanket. It is light blue and grey with gorgeous little elephant embroidery that matches his nursery and keeps us snuggled up during early morning story time. I also love the colourful bag the blanket came in, which we use to store some of his little items. I cannot wait to buy more blankets as gifts for other special little ones!
