Kew accepted the job & confirmed a date that they could complete the work. I asked them what time on that date they would arrive but got ignored. On the day itself I followed up multiple times but they didn’t bother to respond or show up for the job. Terrible service.

Professional installation, but VERY disappointing customer service

The installation itself was completed successfully, and the cat flap appears to be fitted well. However, my experience with the company’s customer service and communication was very disappointing.

The balance of £197.50 was due on completion. I received payment instructions in the morning, but subsequently received several further messages chasing payment throughout the same day — including messages at 14:26, 14:38, 15:05 and 18:04. The fitter had only completed the installation a few hours earlier.

There was also a mark on the newly installed glass which the fitter himself noticed during the installation. He cleaned the glass, but the mark remained. As I had to leave immediately after the fitting, I explained that I wanted to inspect the glass properly when I returned home before making the final payment. I also took photographs immediately after the installation.

The company subsequently told me that the mark was silicone rather than a scratch and that it would come off with cleaning. I purchased specific glass-cleaning products myself the following day, and the mark did improve considerably, so I accept that they were probably correct about it being residue.

What I found particularly disappointing was the tone of the subsequent communication. Despite explaining the circumstances, I was repeatedly accused of making “excuses” and of “evading” payment. I was also told that if I could not afford to pay, I should have said so before the fitting. At no point had I said or implied that I was unable or unwilling to pay.

I did ultimately pay the balance in full (within 30 hours of fitting). My concern was simply that I wanted to inspect a newly installed glass pane properly when a mark had been identified during the installation.

I think customers should be able to raise a reasonable concern about newly installed work without being made to feel that they are behaving dishonestly or unfairly. The installation itself may have been satisfactory, but the manner in which the payment issue and my concern about the glass were handled left me very disappointed.
