Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We’re pleased you enjoyed the tray bakes and rolls, although we appreciate the cheese scones weren’t to your taste.

We would, however, like to clarify your comments regarding our subscription service, product quality and Trading Standards.

As you quite rightly describe it, this is a subscription. It is not a coupon, introductory offer or one-off discount. Our subscriptions were created to reward our loyal customers who order from KetoChefs regularly by providing a saving in return for their ongoing commitment.

Customers are offered a clear choice between a one-time purchase, weekly subscription, fortnightly subscription or monthly subscription.

In this instance, you specifically selected our weekly subscription, which provides one of our largest subscription discount. On your £43.15 order, selecting this option gave you an immediate 10% discount of £4.30 compared with purchasing the same products without the subscription discount.

Our subscriptions carry a minimum two-order commitment. Unfortunately, we regularly experience customers selecting the subscription option to receive the discounted first order and then attempting to cancel immediately afterwards. If we allowed this, the subscription would simply become a one-use discount code, which would be unfair to the loyal customers the saving was created to reward.

You have now received both orders associated with this subscription and have since cancelled it. You were free to select the one-time purchase option, but instead selected the weekly subscription and received the associated 10% discount of £4.30. We therefore respectfully disagree with the suggestion that applying the terms of the subscription selected amounts to operating against Trading Standards rules.

We are also disappointed to have been accused of providing poor-quality products when you did not contact us directly about any concerns during or after receiving either order. We have checked our records and have been unable to find any correspondence from you regarding either the product quality or the subscription. Had you contacted us, we would have been happy to review the matter and investigate your concerns properly.

Of course, customers’ statutory consumer rights remain completely unaffected by our subscription terms.

As you have now fulfilled the minimum two-order commitment and cancelled the subscription, there is no further action required. If you would still like us to review any concerns regarding product quality, please contact us directly and we will be happy to investigate.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We’re sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations, although we would like to clarify a few points, particularly regarding our packaging.

At KetoChefs, we take our environmental responsibilities extremely seriously. As a small independent British business, we actively look for ways to reduce waste and prevent perfectly good materials from ending up in landfill.

The Branston box you received your order in was actually a brand-new, completely unused cardboard box. These boxes are surplus stock that would otherwise be thrown away, despite being perfectly clean, unused and fit for purpose.

Rather than allowing brand-new packaging to be needlessly discarded, we give it a purpose. We also repurpose suitable surplus materials, including clean label-backing paper and leftover food-grade paper, to help protect and secure orders during transit.

We make absolutely no apology for preventing brand-new, perfectly usable cardboard boxes from ending up in landfill. In a world where businesses are rightly being encouraged to reduce their environmental impact, we believe this is something to be proud of rather than criticised for.

The branding printed on the outside of a cardboard box has absolutely no bearing on the quality, safety or freshness of the products inside. We would much rather put our resources into producing quality handmade low-carb products than unnecessarily purchasing additional packaging simply to create a particular first impression.

Regarding your brownies, we’re disappointed that you felt the cookie crumb topping was insufficient, and we’ll certainly take that feedback on board. We’re also sorry that some oil appears to have transferred onto the packaging, as this isn’t the presentation we aim to achieve.

With regard to sweeteners, these are commonly used in keto and low-carb baking as alternatives to traditional sugar. As you’ve rightly acknowledged, individual digestive tolerances can vary, and we always encourage customers to check ingredients against their own dietary requirements.

We’re incredibly proud of being a small British business that makes a conscious effort to reduce waste wherever possible. Our approach to packaging is a deliberate environmental choice, not an indication of the care or quality that goes into our products.

While we respect that our approach may not meet everyone’s expectations, we firmly believe that saving perfectly good, brand-new packaging from landfill is the responsible thing to do, and it’s a practice we intend to continue.
