As the daughter of a vulnerable elderly client, I feel the domiciliary care has gone downhill over the past 18 months. Carers are set up for failure through no fault of their own due to extreme time restraints. It is evident that Devon County brokerage has chosen the most cost effective care package for those clients who are financially unable to make a direct payment to a care company of their choice. Care assessments are not updated to reflect increasing needs of clients. The bare minimum care is undertaken in such a short time because of the need to go to the next client. Travel time is unmanageable especially in rural areas. Carers are expected to work far too many hours each week without sufficient rest days.
