Please look up reviews on BBB.com and Yelp, please don’t give these scammy broke salespeople a free vacation. They are a brokerage with no trucks, no movers just salespeople and subcontractors. They also don’t “guarantee” the DELIVERY or PICKUP of any items meaning once you give them your deposit they can keep it and use this clause against you. Even if you didn’t cancel, even if a mover was never dispatched in the first place, etc. Even during the end of a terrible pandemic they are still taking advantage of people who want to move from one place to another. This company was once “Independent Van Lines” look up their reviews on BBB.com and don’t get scammed like I did. Every response on BBB.com is then telling customers they aren’t obligated to carry out services, and how they are going to keep thier deposit with no refund.

Terrible, they are a broker. They use lowball estimates to get your business, expect rate to double. I have been waiting 6 weeks for delivery and no answer as to when or if my stuff arrives.

Absolutely horrible. Do not give these people your money. They are all smiles and great customer service while they are taking your money and then horrific afterwards. I have tried to cancel my move every way I can imagine. They refuse and have stopped responding. DEPOSITS FOR MOVES ARE NOT NORMAL. Of course, I know that now.
I have attempted to get their arbitration paperwork from them and they refuse. Turns out they aren't registered with the AAA® (American Arbitration Association®) or the ICDR either.
Additionally they aren't registered with any of the moving insurance brokers either. Absolute mess. I feel like they completely stole my money.

I caution you- do not use this company. Total scam! After a thorough inventory list I was quoted $2200 for my door to door service. And ended up paying over $6500. They hold your items hostage until you pay or threaten to sell at auction. Worst moving experience ever!!!!

Complete scam, I was quoted $2500 and was told that the total would be $4000 after a visual inspection. The guys who moved my things showed up with no masks, looked like they had just woken up and came straight to me and charged $45 to wrap a piece of cardboard around glass plates that I personally bubble wrapped. It was a sketchy experience, the things that they would tell me did not line up. I was asked to Zelle them a big amount and I didn't even receive a receipt. 10/10 would not recommend.

They came and instead of $1758, which I signed contract on, they wanted to charge $5900!!! this is not even close to the estimate they gave me. I would never recommend or use them!!!

The fee should have been my first red flag that this company was going to be horrible. The upfront funds paying directly from a checking account should have been my second red flag that this company is bad and the experience will match. They called the day before pickup to tell me that they will not be there until Tuesday. Nice 48 hour window of notification. I guess we only okay bu their rules and contract. They don’t have anything to follow? The “Karen” on the phone lied to me more than twice about a phone call that never took place. Little do they understand I record every call made. My business requires me to. We are still waiting to hear when the driver and movers will be at our place. They are a hour late. The transportation business needs to be much more regulated then they currently are. Their contract means nothing to them or us as a consumer. I would not use this company be aware they are liars. They will not be there the day they say, they will not be there in the timeframe window and I’m sure the delivery will be just as bad. I will be writing another review later. Rent a Uhaul.

Complete scam. Listen to the multiple negative reviews. Salesman will say anything to get you to sign. Our move was subbed out and not only did they not show up on time they tried to quadruple the price the day of the move. The mover blames the salesman and customer service is no help. I spent hours on the phone detailing the move with the salesman. Unresponsive to follow up calls. They claim to not be bound by the contract but will not refund deposit. They wait until the last minute to switch up the price hoping you have no options. God forbid you already let them load the truck. The multiple bad reviews are accurate. Don’t risk it there are better options.

I would absolutely NOT recommend working with Independence Van Lines for your moving needs. I have moved a number of times, but this was by far my worst experience. Independence VL is a broker and unfortunately won’t take responsibility for abusive and unprofessional practices of the moving companies they work with.

I scheduled my move from Los Angeles to Chicago through Independence VL and was asked for an initial deposit based on an estimated volume. Having previous experience with moves and wanting to avoid stress and additional fees the day of my move, a week before my move I provided an updated inventory list. We recalculated volume and I provided an additional deposit per their request. The day of my move, a company called Map Express Logistics showed up and told me the volume calculations were wrong and I had an additional 536 c.f.!!! (DOUBLE the volume on my original estimate) and they needed $4,000 more to proceed with the move.

I decided to cancel my move and lost the $2,387 deposit I had already paid to Independence VL.

For reference, I ended up hiring a different moving company which at pick up calculated an additional 80 c.f. and charged $300 extra from the quote they had given me. Nowhere near the additional 536 c.f. and $4,000 this company wanted to overcharge.

Stay away from Independence Van Lines and their partners. Moving companies have always been known for shady practices and their partner relationships are a grey area. Go with a moving company that owns their own equipment and charges a fixed deposit at the time of booking.

Independence Van Lines moved me and it was AMAZING. I really appreciated 3 movers coming, seems like it is more difficult with only 2 but having 3 movers really streamlined the process. They were respectful, polite, and easy-going which I loved. They made sure I was comfortable and made sure to do their best to stick to their quoted time. They all exceeded my expectations and made moving super easy, stress-free, and best of all, they were friendly. I will recommend them to my friends, family, and think of them for any future moves. Probably the best experience Ive ever had with a moving company. They were 2 awesome guys who got everything moved and done one safely, two nothing is broken, and three would be with professionalism all about making a miserable process enjoyable. I would highly recommend the company it self and would also recommend to anyone. Thanks.

We wish we could give more than 5 stars! The communication from the office staff is excellent! The movers showed up on time, actually early. We received a text with an approximate ETA and a text when they arrived. The movers themselves were very professional, understanding, and did more than a superior job. Moving is stressful enough but Independence Van Lines helped to relieve ALOT of that stress!

Wow! You have really impressed our family with your relocation skills. It's easy to see that this company has done cross country moves plenty of times because you didnt have any questions for us, we had all the questions! We wanted to be fully prepared, and you kept us at ease instead of making us panic.

Independence Van Lines is by far the most reliable moving company I've ever worked with. Everything actually went as planned no delays and no additional charges. The movers worked very hard and stayed on track the whole time. I rarely write reviews but these guys were way above average and moving out of state is a complex thing. So I felt it was important to leave a feedback. We are really thankful to Independence Van Lines and the whole crew.

I contacted Independence Van Lines on 11/19/2020 to schedule my move. We spent 2 hours on the phone going over full detail of the items in my home to get an accurate estimate. The gentleman helping me, Jeff, assured me the price would not change unless I add services last minute. As I elected the full suite of services, he assured me the price would not change. I gave him EXTREME detail about the items and amount of stuff in my home, and received a quote of just over $7,000. Great! I gave them my info for the deposit, $2700, and agreed the rest of what I owed would be split into 2 payments. One at pick up and one at delivery. Works for me. Flash forward to move day, 12/29, the company that Independence contracted with shows up and says, "They really under quoted you, looks like it will be $3900 more due to size and labor" so I called Independence van lines, spoke to Megan a manager who told me that bc they need more cubic feet in the truck that the price will go up....and not $3900 like the movers said....but up to $14,000. So now, rather than the $2500 I was expecting to pay today, they are asking for $5000, but offered me free storage of my items for 30 days while I find a way to pay them the rest of the $7000. Where will I come up with $7000 in a month when I am UNEMPLOYED MOVING OUT OF STATE?! I am moving out of state, buying a home, I got have an extra SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS over what was quoted. I had a very strict budget since I am working in the constraints of the home buying process. I am not left with the decision of leaving HALF OF MY BELONGINGS or RENTING A UHAUL MYSELF to move. I find this utterly unprofessional and completely unacceptable.

Don’t use these people they are awful. I called to get them to move me from California to Louisiana i told them I needed the truck today they said no problem. Well I sent them $1600.00 on the premise that I would get a truck today! The said they would call with time of pickup nothing, called this morning said to call back. So I called them to cancel because of no response on their part, they said they had a truck lined up two days from now I said that will not do that I would have to cancel because it’s not what I asked for, they said they will not refund my deposit. They have done nothing for $1600 but write an estimate. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I want my deposit back

Please, please DO NOT USE this company. I can’t tell you enough how horrible they are. They are liars, a complete scam and everything they tell you on the phone is a complete lie. Don’t think they are an option because they are nice on the phone or their cost is affordable. ALL LIES.

I got a call from a guy called Bob West which was super helpful, he was telling me how lucky I was because he had a truck going from Denver to Boston on that specific day I needed the move to happen. I asked about storage and he said he would give me 2 months free storage and the long carry fee could be just $50. ALL LIES! I made a deposit to them of $1.185.50 and I was expecting them the next day.

I had a specific day that I needed the move to happen because I was travelling after, I asked several times if he could confirm me the move on that day and he said “Of course, just wait for our call between 1pm to 3pm and the team will be there to pick up your stuff”. ALL LIES! They called me on the pick up day, saying the move was the day after, they were not present when Bob West gave me the 2 months free storage and long carry fee so they couldn’t do it. Also, there was never a truck in Denver going to Boston. They never appeared on that day, they tried to book the next day for the move to happen and I asked a friend to open the door for me as I was not in the country anymore. When I tried to forward the quote to my friend, the quote was gone and it said “Congratulations on your move on 11/6. Any questions contact customer service”. THE MOVE NEVER HAPPENED and they ARE REFUSING TO GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK. PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL, THIS WAS A HUGE SCAM. We booked the moving with them on Thursday 11/5 evening around 6pm and they guaranteed us they would come the following day, 11/6, with a pick up date from 1pm to 3pm. We needed the move to happen 11/6 because we had our flight booked for Saturday, 11/7. Over the phone, they said how much would be the cost, $2100, that they would offer 2 months free storage and only charge $50 for long carry. The guy over the phone was Bob West. Next day and pick up day, Friday 11/6, they called saying the move would be only on Saturday and not on Friday as confirmed (impossible for us because we had our flight). And then over the phone, the customer care person said that they would charge storage, long carry fee and that they had nothing to do with what Bob West has told us - “We were not there, I don’t know what he said, you can’t contact him anymore.”. We asked for the phone call record and they said they didn’t record any calls. The quote they sent us on 11/5 was for $2100 and it had all our inventory. On 11/6 afternoon I no longer could open the quote and once I clicked on it, a page opened and it says “Congratulations your move happened on 11/6”. I have taken a screenshot of this page if needed I can send it. Obviously the move never happened and I have all my stuff waiting for it to be moved. On top of that, the number they gave me to call said they were closed today (this is a customer service number) This was a horrible scam and a complete fraud, the move never happened, we were told lies after lies and the entire service was horrible. WE DID A WIRE TRANSFER AND WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK.

EXTORTION SCAM!!!! I have no idea how they have good reviews here, they most have fake ones. Check them out on Yelp! They outsource to other moving companies, some of which are very sketchy. They increased the price by $1400 and would hang up on my overtime I asked for an explanation. Eventually they threatened to just sell all my stuff because I was "being too difficult". I had no choice but to pay. When I got my items they were sopping wet and several things were broken and my clothes were moldy. I am not exaggerating when I say this was the worst experience with a professional company in my life.

Sent them an inventory and they gave me a “guaranteed price” of $3,300 and a guaranteed deliver of 2-4 days to move furniture 800 miles. Paid them $1,800 for a deposit. Moving company came a week later and the driver asked for $7,200. Said the inventory was miscalculated and if we wanted a delivery in 2-4 days it would cost $2,500 more. Otherwise, the furniture would go to a warehouse until another truck could take the load.
