Fell short - Refund Requested

First time purchasing Impossibrew based on some friends feedback. Unfortunately it was never to be. Some mix up with my order meant it wasn't delivered when expected and has now missed the deadline for when I need it. Customer service responses are slow but after a frustrating few days and a fair bit of radio silence I've now had confirmation that a refund is being processed.

Disappointing experience from start to finish

Bit of a nuisance from start to finish really. Ordered the starter pack and, as a lager drinker, I was tempted to just order 10 lagers but then opted for a mixed pack of lagers and ales so I could try them both.

Ordering was easy enough and they arrived quickly, albeit to the wrong address (thanks DPD, up to your usual low standards).

Every single can arrived dented or damaged in some way despite the outer box not being damaged, so they most likely left the warehouse in that condition.

I did try the website's support chatbot to report a damaged order and was asked for my order number. Copying and pasting my order number into the chat window, the bot replied that it didn't understand, despite being provided with exactly the information it had asked for. I told it that it was useless and I would e-mail instead (I know, I know, but it made me feel slightly better). Nevertheless, the bot replied that it was sorry to frustrate me and that "my feedback had been flagged to the team as urgent".

12 days later, and still no response to my e-mail, I receive e-mail confirmation of yet another order I wasn't aware I'd asked for as part of my ongoing 'subscription'.

Checking all the e-mails I received after the original order, there was no mention of me having set up a subscription, unwittingly or otherwise, and the word 'subscription' did not appear once in any of the e-mails received.

That, is very, very naughty. If you're going to automatically opt-in first time purchasers to a subscription service, morally you should a) make the website crystal clear that is what you are doing, and b) confirm in writing the details of the subscription, so anyone mistakenly signing up is at least aware of what is happening.

Having not received a reply to my original e-mail, and now wishing to cancel the second, unwanted order, I sent a chase e-mail.

To be fair this time I got a response pretty quickly, they offered to immediately cancel the subscription, cancel the unwanted order and refund it, and either cancel or credit my account to the value of the original, damaged order.

I opted for a refund of course for reasons to follow.

The refund for the unwanted order arrived within a week or so but no sign of the refund for the damaged order after a week - cue further chase e-mail.

E-mail reply received and refund processed, that took around another week.

And I've not even talked about the product yet!

Sadly, and somewhat surprisingly as a career lager drinker, I found the lager offering to be pretty tasteless, just that mild malty taste that you get with most AF beers, and also lifeless, very disappointing. The Ale on the other hand was much nicer, had a very pleasant taste vaguely in the style of a half decent Craft Keg beer.

As for the alleged 'Buzz'? Well that eluded me entirely, it seemed to me to be a bold claim and so it proved, if you're looking to this product to replace the taste and feel of an alcoholic drink, I'm afraid you're going to be very disappointed.

The only reason they're getting a 2 star review not 1 is on the basis of the Ale which was actually half decent.

The slickness of the marketing for this venture is staggeringly good, sadly the Walk doesn't live up to the Talk for me.

Matt here from IMPOSSIBREW. I want to sincerely apologise for the experience you had with us. You're right that your initial email on the 5th of February should not have gone unanswered for 12 days, and being charged for a subscription order you weren't aware of made things even worse.

We did get both refunds processed for you (EC202349 on the 17th Feb and EC199470 on the 23rd Feb) and your subscription was cancelled immediately.

We've since made changes to improve our response times so no customer is left waiting like this again. I completely understand if we've lost your trust, but if you ever want to give us another try, we'd love to make it up to you.

Meh…

It just tastes very watery - like watered down lager. Disappointing after the hype - like the idea, and it is drinkable, just the formula needs some Oomph in the taste.

Everyone responds a bit differently depending on their tolerance and sensitivity to the ingredients. If you're up for it, try having 2-3 cans in one sitting and see if you notice the difference.

Disappointed Drinker

As a seasoned beer drinker and someone who retired from the brewing industry after 15 years service, I have to say I was pretty disappointed with this product. It's quite thin on flavour as are most of these low and no alcohol beers quite often due to the relatively low grain bill and low starting gravity so nothing new here. The beer goes very flat soon after pouring and I didn't get any particular effect from the "social blend" that is supposed to replace the alcohol, I think one would get more relaxed from alcohol than ashwaganda. Their system of signing you up to a subscription by default is a little naughty so watch out for that one.

Matt here from IMPOSSIBREW. Really appreciate the detailed feedback, especially coming from someone with 15 years in the brewing industry.

You make a fair point on the grain bill. We've deliberately kept it lighter to hit our calorie targets while still aiming for the best flavour we can. It's a balancing act and we're always refining the recipe. Our Triple Hopped IPA has a fuller body if you're after something with more weight to it.

On the Social Blend, results do vary person to person. The L-Theanine and Ashwagandha are dosed at levels supported by research, but sensitivity differs.

On the subscription point, that's fair feedback and something we're working on making clearer at checkout.

I purchased a pale ale starter pack
Was excited from the hype of having a non alcoholic drink that gave the same relaxing feeling but without the alcohol. Sadly disappointed. The ale itself is quite thin & watery. And theres no buzz, no chilled feeling, and after two was quite gassy. Not worth the hype or ££ sadly I'll be looking elsewhere to a non alcoholic buzz/wind down feel.

Problem after Problem after Problem.

I really hate to give a 1 star as I have not even had the chance to taste the beer. My experience of ordering has gone wrong from start to finish and I've not had any response for 9 days dispite emailing the support and the ownder as directed by the AI bot. I've also called and had no response (if the number on google is correct)

I ordered a deal that I thought fantastic. 18 Mixed box, 20 Pale Ales AND Spend over £90 and get a Free glass and 10 Tripple Hopped IPA. Realistically I was making this order because I heard good things about the Tripple Hopped IPA and the deal was fantastic. At checkout I could see the Free Glass and Tripple Hopped IPA, I recorded this as I felt the deal was so good I had to send it to my friends as they were interested in buying some! At the checkout page all items were presents, After checkout, when I had paid the gift items were no longer on the confirmation order. I should note that they applied a discount AUTOMATICALLY that brought the cost to £88.89 HOWEVER my basket still showed the free gift. I'd also have been happy to take off applied discount as the gifts are worth significantly more.

Well, 9 days later, multiple chats with the AI bot and 2 emails looking to rectify the order or potentially even cancel it has ended with me recieving only 2 of the items as I anticipated. Not only that, but for some reason DPD threw one of the crates over my 6 foot 5 gate which has damaged the Mixed Pack, granted that isn't impossibrews fault but I now fear emailing them about this as it is going to take just as long to resolve.

I'm hoping that once my issues are rectified I can ammend my review as I was really looking forward to trying this AF beer.

Edit: 28/01/2026 I have been contacted by one of the staff and I'm pleased that they have fulfilled the request. I've updated to 2 Stars and will fully update upon trying the beer!

Back to 1 star, after they contacted me, they said they would send the confirmed deal but never did, it feels like they were just trying to wait out another month of sub. What a shame. I'd rather just not drink at all that deal with this.

Beware if you are buying

Ordered impossibrew, initially had delay in delivery but received the item. Two weeks later they charged my CC and sent me more of its product without my knowledge. Did not placed the order. I have emailed them several times, no reply. Suggest you take care ordering from this company. Would not buy from them again.

We've since improved how we communicate subscription details at checkout so customers are fully aware before being charged. I'm sorry we let you down on this one.

Terrible Ordering Experience

Terrible experience just trying to order. Sent to my bank 5 times to authorise payment and back to Impossibrew page which just constantly asked me to "pay now". In addition there's nobody in customer service over the weekend so it's their loss and not mine. I'll take my business elsewhere.

The repeated bank authorization loop you experienced is unfortunately sometimes caused by the 3D Secure verification between your bank and our payment provider - but regardless of the cause, it shouldn't have happened five times, and I'm sorry it did.

You're also right that we don't have weekend cover. We're a small team of four, so our support runs Monday to Friday. I know that's not ideal, and it's something we're aware of as we grow.

Disappointed by lack of customer service

I love the Triple Hopped IPA. That was until the last shipment I received. The beer was contaminated by brown lumps that made me think it was unsafe to drink. I emailed them but 4 days later no response. Shame on you impossibrew

For what it's worth, the "brown lumps" are likely natural yeast sediment from our unfiltered brewing process (we don't use preservatives), which is safe to drink but I appreciate it doesn't look great. Either way, I'd like to make this right for you.

Underhand marketing

I've been buying their IPA for several years, which I think is pretty decent and tastes good. This year, I spotted a promotion for a Starter Pack on offer, which comprises 5 x lagers and 5 x IPAs. It is advertised at a discounted rate with a free glass, which I thought was a good January offer. When it arrived, there was no free glass. I queried this with their marketing team, who state if you read the small print, it's for orders over £80, despite the marketing graphic clearly showing specifically the Starter Pack of 10 beers with a sticker saying 'Free Glass'. Having spent hundreds of pounds with the brand, I was disappointed buy their answer telling me to buy another more expensive pack to get a free glass. Let's be clear, it's only a glass, but I felt the marketing was underhand and their customer service response was poor.

Now to the beers. I'm not sure if I have a duff batch, but the lager is not drinkable. It's completely, and I mean completely, flat. Barely any bubbles. I had half a glass and threw it away. The rest I'll probably have to bin too. However, the IPA is decent and I do enjoy. I never get a 'buzz' from the IPAs.

Since I started buying their beers back in 2022, there are since so many more non alcoholic options. I now personally find Lucky Saint to be tastier and a more affordable option and will stick with that moving forwards. Their lager is actually carbonated.

On the glass, you were absolutely right. The ad was misleading and we've since updated it to make the offer clearer. Apologies for the frustration that caused.

On the flat lager, that's definitely not normal. Our cans should be well carbonated. It sounds like that can may have had a seal issue. I wish you'd reached out on that one as we would have replaced or refunded it straight away.

Deceptive hard sell tactics - be careful

Both my son and I independently bought a case of IMPOSSIBREW lager online. In both cases, we were unknowingly signed up to a subscription as part of the checkout process.

In my case I noticed just in time and cancelled, but only after realising that a second order was about to be taken. My son wasn’t so lucky — he was charged and sent a second case he never asked for and had no idea he’d agreed to.

This is not an accident. This is a deliberately designed “dark-pattern” checkout — a practice where customers are nudged, hidden, or tricked into signing up for recurring payments. It may be legal, but it is deeply unethical.

The beer itself is fine, but it is far from unique. There are hundreds of low- and no-alcohol beers on the market that are just as good — many better — and most of them don’t rely on deceptive sales tactics to stay in business.

If this is how IMPOSSIBREW has to operate to sell a case of beer, that tells you everything you need to know about the company.

They have permanently lost two customers — and I will be making sure others know about this experience before they buy.

Marketing hype that wasn’t backed up

Really hoped it would be good! Unfortunately it just wasn’t. Got the pale and the lager as it was on offer. Imagine if you took a normal beer or lager and watered it right down and you’re somewhere in the ball park of how this stuff tastes. As for the social blend ‘buzz’….thats a no as well. Literally no change when drinking it. End of the day it’s just fancy marketing and a very average and over priced product. Guinness zero is the way a non alcoholic product should be done 👌🏻 anyway, subscription cancelled (watch out for that as well) and I’ll not be buying again.

I’m a fan of their beers but not the way the website now tries to make every order a subscription!’ Feels very cheap and very Amazonesque. Please stop.
