I paid over £250 for this parcel box…
I paid over £250 for this parcel box and it failed within 12 months. A delivery driver forced a parcel into it and both hinge fixings on the internal security flap tore through the surrounding sheet metal.
Once I looked closely at the failure, I was surprised by how thin the metal is around the riveted fixing points and how close those fixings are to the edge. In my view, this part of the product simply isn’t substantial enough for the real-world treatment a parcel box is likely to receive.
More concerning is the security aspect. Having seen how easily the internal security flap failed, I now have very little confidence in it as an anti-theft device. If someone genuinely wanted to get at a parcel inside, it appears they could simply apply enough force to the internal flap and tear the fixings through the metal, just as happened here. That makes me question whether this part of the product is really designed adequately for its intended purpose.
I Love Parcels rejected my five-year structural warranty claim on the basis of “abnormal loading”. However, when I asked what the maximum parcel weight or shelf-loading limit was, they confirmed there isn’t one. They also confirmed there is no published threshold defining what constitutes abnormal loading.
They acknowledged that they cannot say exactly what happened, how the force was applied or how much force was involved.
I fully accept that delivery drivers can be rough, but that is exactly why I would expect a parcel box costing more than £250 to be designed and stress-tested accordingly. I don’t expect it to withstand unlimited abuse, but I do expect the security mechanism and its fixing points to survive foreseeable delivery use and provide meaningful resistance to someone trying to get inside.
They eventually offered to look for a replacement part or arrange a repair, but I would have to pay for the replacement, delivery, collection and/or repair myself.
Communication was polite, but ultimately I’m left with an expensive parcel box that failed in under a year and a five-year structural warranty that provided no practical protection when a structural part of the box failed.
For the price, the construction, the security concerns and the warranty experience, I can’t recommend it.

We’re sorry that the damage to your parcel box and the subsequent warranty assessment have left you disappointed.
To clarify, we did not reject the claim because a parcel exceeded an unpublished weight limit. Based on the photographs, the tearing and deformation around the hinge fixings indicated that the internal mechanism had been subjected to significant force, potentially while its movement was obstructed. Although we cannot determine precisely how the damage occurred, it did not appear consistent with the mechanism failing during normal, unobstructed operation.
We appreciate your concerns regarding the product’s construction and security. Parcel boxes are designed to provide secure everyday parcel storage, but no parcel box can be guaranteed to withstand unlimited or deliberate force.
Although our warranty assessment remains unchanged, we would like to resolve this constructively. As a gesture of goodwill, we remain willing to replace the damaged shelf assembly and cover the cost of returning the parcel box to you.

Poor Key Quality
£300 is not an insubstantial sum for a parcel box, but the keys that come with it are of extremely poor quality. Within weeks they began to look obviously "distressed" (coating coming off etc), and after 18 months one snapped off in the lock under normal usage. I contacted iloveparcels who responded that I would simply need to buy a new lock and keys from them (which obviously I needed to do otherwise the box would be rendered useless). The new keys appear to be the same again so I guess I will be making another lock and key purchase 18 months from now. Literally spending an extra 50p on the quality of the key would solve this problem and I wouldn't be posting a disappointed review.

Some cosmetic wear to the finish on keys can occur over time through everyday use and does not affect their function. We do appreciate, however, that a broken key is frustrating.
The lock and keys are covered by our 12-month functional warranty, so unfortunately this issue occurred outside of the warranty period. As the key was no longer available for inspection, we were unable to determine the exact cause of the failure. Increased resistance can develop over the lifetime of any mechanical lock for a number of reasons, including lubrication requirements, alignment of the mechanism, or other operating conditions.
We have supplied many thousands of these parcel boxes, and reports of keys breaking during normal use are uncommon. While we're sorry this was your experience, we do not believe it reflects the typical performance of our products.
