Order came as requested, hot and on time. Use the app regularly as its much more efficient than calling restaurants. Good discounts available too so 5 stars all round.

Load of bollox ordered food that was …

Load of bollox ordered food that was nearly 2 hrs late was stone cold but as paid with card having trouble with refund that hungry house say is down to me to chase thanks

So good I thought I'd review twice!

After reviewing Hungryhouse a few months ago and having such a positive experience - from placing and order, eating, reviewing and receiving a reply from the team.. it got one step better on Friday, I woke up to an email saying I had won £50 free food credit for the above said review... a small scream of "FREE FOOD!" uncontrollably leapt out of my mouth and then a warm, fuzzy feeling followed :)

Friday night consisted of my usual pizza meal deal from Pizza Pronto (my awesome delivery driver was there yet again with his happy face - I really need to start adoption procedures soon) and some Thai food followed = NOM!

How could you not be happy after all of that?!

Always helps

Any problems I have had have been with the takeaway companies and not hungryhouse themselves. In fact, hungryhouse has always solved any issues I've had relatively swiftly.

HUNGRYHOUSE = FOOD POISONING

Trying restaurants via hungryhouse means playing a dangerous lottery with your health. After numerous attempts, their "customer care" eventually offered me a 10% discount on an absolutely inedible cold meal from a place called Emparo Pizza in NW2. Absolutely cold. I suppose I persisted with this website due to habit and convenience, despite the often poor quality of food and service. This was my final straw. They clearly don't care about any professional standards. Never again. Understand that this was more about the fact that this "pizza" began to stink by next day, I was actually going to take photos of how dreadful it was, but had to throw it out the next morning. It had covered in some kind of a slimy mold already - that's how disgusting it was. No, I didn't take photos, but the delivery man must know that he handed me an inedible, also cold meal.

I'm sorry it's taken time to get back to you about the food quality issue you wrote about in your review.

Did you receive a food poisoning diagnosis from a doctor after consuming any of the food? If you did then we recommend contacting the Food & Hygiene Standards Agency to report the issue. They have the legal authority to go into the store, investigate and then report back to us. In cases where restaurants receive a downranking in their FSA rating we remove them instantly from the platform.

As the financial transaction is made between yourself and the restaurant, and we just facilitate it, we are unable to process a refund without their consent, and even more in cases such as these where without proof of food poisoning to take action would be potentially slanderous.

However, I would like the opportunity to follow up on this case. If the restaurant have any sort of complaint similar to yours since or before your order, then our restaurant operations team will be in a better position to remove them or at least work out how we can support them to perform at an acceptable standard.

Can you please email us at socialmedia@hungryhouse.co.uk with your order ID so I can get all the relevant information and try find a more acceptable resolution in this case?

what a waste of time this site is ! you never are able to complete to the checkout and when you do the food you get is total rubbish and they do nothing about it

I'm really sorry to hear that you've been having trouble completing your order through our checkout. We were experiencing some one-off issues on our mobile site last weekend that have been resolved, but I'd like to work out exactly what was causing the problems you had.

I also apologise that you've found our response to your food quality complaints has been inadequate. If you drop an email to socialmedia@hungryhouse.co.uk with your order ID or email address and a little more information about the food quality complaint and the exact order and payment method that you were having trouble with, I can investigate further.

At this point in time I cannot promise any compensation for complaints regarding food that is not up to standard, because it is the restaurant's responsibility to deliver food of an acceptable standard and ours to process the order information to them. However, we of course take all of these issues very seriously. I will speak to the restaurant manager myself to pass on the complaint, ensure that we take any steps we can to assist the restaurant in delivering acceptable service levels, request compensation on your behalf and then if a resolution cannot be found, review their place on the platform.

I look forward to hearing back from you so we can get something sorted out regarding the poor experience you've been having with our platform.

HUNGRY HOUSE... Hermanos Mexicanos, Walthamstow... TERRIBLE RESTAURANT!!!

Tonight (29th September 2017) I ordered food from hungry house at 7:45pm... having placed the order, I then find out that my food wasn't going to arrive until 9:20!!! This was very late... but then, at 10pm my food still had not arrived and I was very hungry and very angry! I rang to cancel my order and get a refund, only to have a staff member of the restaurant tell me that wasn't his problem and that I needed to call hungry house direct! He then blocked me from the hungry house app (I didn't even know this could happen!?) Anyway, I'm £22 out of pocket and still very hungry but it's too late to eat now! My money back would have slightly made up for this annoying situation but I'm now at a loss as to how that will happen!

I'm really sorry to hear about the issue you had with Hermanos Mexicanos last week, it's understandably frustrating that your order ETA was not met and even more so that the restaurant did not offer any support!

I've got the restaurant account but can't seem to find any orders on the 29th with your name or for the value of £22. If you can drop us an email to socialmedia@hungryhouse.co.uk with your order ID or the email you placed the order from, then I can track the right order.

What I'll do is follow up with the restaurant what exactly happened, arrange for the refund of the payment immediately and ensure that you've not been blocked from the app. Restaurants are able to refuse service themselves but have to discuss this with us and are not permitted to block you from the whole platform.

Again, apologies - I look forward to hearing back from you via email so we can sort this out ASAP!

Not impressed

I tried to order from hungry house to be told my order was unsuccessful and to try another restaurant. I then ordered form other restaurant to have my order cancelled half and hour later due to a system issue. I then gave up on hungry house and order food from else where. To have my first order show up at my door. Not impressed, had to send away a very confused delivery driver. I do not recommend this service and will not being using it again.

As you were affected by the system issues you should have received a compensation voucher sent to the email address you use with hungryhouse.

No confirmation of order until I contacted Hungryhouse after 35 minutes

After 35 minutes no confirmation was given of my order. I started a live chat with Hungryhouse to find out what was happening. They had a automatic response saying there is a very long waiting time and i should try and call the restaurant myself. It is not clear where the telephone number is, but when i finally found it on the order status page the restaurant said that hungry house just called them to give the over over the phone to them instead as Hungryhouse were having IT difficulties. I cancelled my order as it would be another 50 minutes until my food could be delivered. I can cook faster than that.
Bad service - other take away sites I've not had a problem with. A shame as it lets down the restaurant's business.

I contacted hungry house as the take …

I contacted hungry house as the take away we ordered was utter disgusting I even emailed them a photo of the food! Hungry house stated that they could see the food was poor and they would follow up with the restaurant. They messaged me back saying that the restaurant disagreed and there was nothing hungry house could do!! Extremely poor customer service!!

USELESS!!!!! DO NOT USE!!!!

Wish I'd read the reviews of hungry house before I'd committed to an order. Absolutely fuming is an understatement! We've waited over 2 hours, have spoken to 2 separate people at hungry house neither of which have returned our call as promised, nor recorded details of our conversation. What was supposed to be a wedding anniversary meal in the comfort of our home has turned into an absolute shambles!

The restaurants number was engaged all night which is why we thought we'd try the third party service - never ever again! Huge dissapointment and let down! Honestly wouldn't ever bother using this service again. When we eventually got through, the restaurant we're very vague and not sure they had been told of our order...............useless disgraceful service. And as for customer service......!!!!!

Waited 90 mins to find nothing's been ordered.

I am furious. I ordered a takeway with friends over 90 mins ago worth £34 and I rang to see what was taking so long only to find out that my order had not gone through as it has had not been validated by hungry house because I was a first time user.' I was told I needed to call a 033 number even though I've used them a few times before. What the hell? I am starving and that's why I'm do aggy but was i supposed to wait all night to find out my food was never coming?

I'm sorry to hear that your order was not prepared. Restaurants will often call the mobile number on a first time order to verify that it works. If they get no answer and the order is not pre-paid they may decide not to make it in case they can't get through to the customer when delivering.

I received terrible food from Noodle …

I received terrible food from Noodle express in Tooting. They called the restaurant and I was told no one else has complained so no refund was offered. Soggy cold bland fatty food was what I received..Miso soup had a layer of fat on top and was tepid, the pad Thai was greasy the salmon ramen was dry and overcooked with plain noodles no sauce??all bland and supported by tons of msg. I was ill in bed and wanted some fresh and hot food. So disappointed I will never either of these companies again.

You have no right to keep hold of funds …

You have no right to keep hold of funds after you app shows a restaurant open when it's closed. I refuse to accept you even holding MY money for 1 minute let alone 24hrs!!!. it should have been sent back to me immediately! Not gaining time and interest in your account or "making it easier" for me to use at you app again. Give me a break, you messed me around with no option to speak to anyone and no way of getting food. I will never use your "service again". I'll be waiting to see how long it takes for you to send my £13.25 back into my account, you took it from me immediately. If this is not sorted asap I'll be taking about your service to everyone through social media in a very big way indeed.

Hi Darren,

To clarify why your funds were taken instantly and why you have to wait three working days for them to be refunded, I will explain how our payments system works.

When an order is placed with online payment, we authorise the funds instantly in order to ensure there are sufficient funds on the customer's card. If we waited for restaurants to confirm the orders first, they may already be making the food before we check if funds are available. If an order is declined then the funds are processed as a refund. Unfortunately, payment processors and banks do not send refunds out as quickly as they draw the funds. The three day waiting time is standard with all online payments and not something we can control.

So that customers can place another order we allow them to use the refund funds as credit that night and if this is not done then the money is refunded as normal.
