Today, 11 April 2026 is my birthday and I was on the hunt for a 5inch red velvet cake 🎂 but was unable to secure one online for today so I went to the bakery in Victoria and was pleased to see a 6inch instead, it was more than what I wanted to spend but i was given discount as it was my birthday and was given a treat on top which was absolutely worth it....inwas served by Twisha, and another young lady whowas equally lovely, and she decorated my cake with red trim and a happy birthday message which was lovely and I left the shop with my 72 teeth smiling.....Thank you @Hummingbird for making my birthday extra special.... its all about the small things xx

Abysmal customer service. I’ve been a regular customer, so I immediately noticed that the cake I received was significantly smaller than usual. When I reached out to query this, the response I got was dismissive and unhelpful, they simply stated it was “normal” with no acknowledgment of my concern and not even a basic apology.

What’s worse, when I followed up to raise this again, I was completely ignored. No response at all. That level of disregard for a loyal customer is unacceptable.

It’s incredibly disappointing to see such poor service from a brand I used to trust. Based on this experience, I will not be returning and certainly won’t be recommending them to anyone else.

Pre ordered gluten free red velvet cupcakes. Cupcakes were dry and unappetising. Very disappointing. Extremely poor value for money and not of the quality expected.

Always had great cupcakes here.

It is with great sadness having purchased from this bakery for over a decade that I’m having to leave a bad review. I purchased 3 slices of cake at the Notting Hill branch at £6.75 per slice. Excitedly took them home only to find one with hair embedded in the cake and all of them were stale. What a waste of money and huge disappointment. I don’t know what’s going on with the manufacturer, but this is certainly not the Hummingbird Bakery I once knew. Won’t be purchasing again.

Bought a rainbow cake for a 21st birthday . Clearly wasn’t freshly baked as the cake wasn’t as light as should be and was very dry . Have tried the cupcakes and were very nice but so disappointed by this cake .

I love humming bird cupcakes but this is my 3rd purchase where they are not fresh oddly the price is always the same expensive whats the point of paying so much for dry cupcakes

I haven't eaten a cupcake from the Hummingbird for many years.I was disappointed that it was no longer like an American cupcake but a dry heavier English one ! I am guessing they have changed the recipe but nothing like an American cupcake 🧁 although the icing was good.

I ordered a vegan birthday cake for my sister's 60th birthday to be delivered to my home address. The delivery was great so the whole process was stress-free and the cake was amazing - no-one knew that it was vegan! I will definitely be ordering again.

Hummingbird cakes are delicious, but their delivery service is unacceptable. This is my second bad experience, and it will be my last. They provide an all-day delivery window without any advance notice or a narrowed time frame when the driver is nearby. When they arrive, they knock once and leave almost immediately. If you're unavailable, such as showering, there's no second attempt, nor do they inform you if a customised cake will be returned to the bakery for collection.

Customer service is unresponsive to emails, and there’s no phone number available for urgent situations.

This experience was so draining that it affected the entire mood of the party organisers. It's better to choose another option.

Messed up colour on Gender Reveal Cake and we visited the Nottinghill Bakery to demand a refund. The manager not only refused but also had ZERO acknowledgement of how the ruined a once in a life time experience to compensate for. We threw away the cake. The company has no customer service # to call. DO NOT use them, they are not reliable

I placed a large order for thanksgiving: the pies were flat and dry; the Mississippi mud pie tasted off. Would not order from them again. It was a waste of money.

The quality of this “cake” is really bad.
Dry, way too small, the white frosting thingy is way too sweet…. Just doesn’t taste like a cake.
And why it is so so so expensive????

Terrible. The cakes are covered in cream cheese ‘frosting’. Not cream cheese. Poor quality and expensive.
Go to Lola’s Cupcakes and give this brand a miss!

Charlie the online manager that is unable to assist and call a customer is awful. There management and dealing with customer. Never ordering from them again. Disgusting

So I have the original and limited edition version of the cookbook. And started to make pumpkin pie with the newer version. But then realised that one says bake pastry first and other one says bake pastry raw and both go in the oven for the same time. The limited edition says bake blind in ingredients but on the recipe instructions it makes no mention of this implying you put middle straight in raw pastry case. Hummingbird you wasted my time and money by not proof reading your recipes. Recipes should be clear and yours is not!

Oh dear. What has happened to the legendary Hummingbird cupcakes. The frosting is too sweet and quite heavy. The cake itself was abit dry and not very fresh.
The usual cream cheese frosting is NOT the same as before. It's nice more like a sickly sweet butter cream 🫤😔

What a shame!

Visited Victoria branch today - appaulling treatment and attitude from the Manager. Its a shame to be treated in such a way, you have to take your custom elsewhere. However, looking at the reviews for this company, I'm certainly not surprised!
Will NEVER return.

The rainbow cake that I’ve ordered in the past, no longer taste the same. Taste dry, too sweet and not fresh at all. Taste like it was baked a week ago. Definitely too much frosting on it. £72.50 for an 8” cake. I could have gotten a sheet cake from Costco for about £20 or less. This cake is a big disappointment and it feels like this company has branched out into individual franchises. Never again, the quality has gone way way down. This was collected at the Victoria branch. I’ve always gone to the South Kensington branch. Although I don’t think it would have made a difference. The customer service wasn’t good either. I had to ask the lady for a bag to put the cake in.

Ordered a cake for my daughters 30th.. we came all the way from Cheshire to London by train. We were unable to cut the cake as it hasn’t arrived !!!
Super disappointed.. had we known we would’ve collected at a branch which was 3 miles away..
There is no order tracking service..
