ALWAYS CHECK THE INSPECTOR FIRST
Gavin from houzecheck itself was great, however I didn't realise they hire third party reps to carry out their inspections and the person they used didn't seem competent in the slightest. Inspected the fireplace unit claiming it to be electric, you can quite visibly see the gas pipe going into it. Accompanied with a damp reading of 999.9 on a completely dry interior wall, by that logic the walls should be completely saturated.

The response to our survey request was very fast and the survey took place with 10 days with report arriving with 3 days of the survey.
The report detailed a number of issues that we have taken up with the seller.

Invaluable advice from Surveyor
I used Houzecheck for a property I was buying. Because I was a cash buyer I didn’t have to get one. But to be on the safe side I did.
Oh my goodness with a level 3 building survey the house I was planning to buy came back with loads wrong with it. The vendor didn’t want to do the work so I had to withdraw my offer.
So I find another house. This one looked ok so I did a level 2 buyers survey.
They were asking top money for the small terraced Victorian property. But some of the things that the Houzecheck surveyor pointed out made me realise I would be looking at some hefty maintenance, including the roof!
As I’m 55 I need to make very sure I’m not going to be buying a house that needs thousands spending on it.
So Houzecheck have been totally invaluable and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

Not all I expected
Very efficient on telephone when booking survey. Surveyor did not arrive at stated time and it took a number of phone calls and being transferred to different departments to establish that he would attend as ordered. He eventually arrived three and a half hours late and spent very little time at the premises. Disappointing.
