Extension needed over £35k+ of remedial work to fix
In 2024 Tom Horrell, then trading as TH & Jones, built a single-storey extension at our home in Corsham. We paid him £31,296.
We had problems with the work, so we commissioned an independent building surveyor, who inspected in July 2024. His report identified defects that need remedial work. Another builder has quoted £35k+ to put them right, which is more than we paid for the original job.
We wrote to Mr Horrell several times asking him to fix the problems. They have not been put right. We have now sent a formal letter of claim, and the matter is unresolved.
T H and Jones Ltd has since gone into liquidation. Mr Horrell has also traded under other names, including JRH Construction, Reno & Build and, more recently, H&H Building.
In my opinion, anyone thinking of hiring him should check the trading name and company details carefully, ask for insurance, references from recent customers and get an independent inspection at each stage.
