I would just like to say how well the selsey branch of Henry adams worked to sell my father’s property they are so far ahead of any other estate agents in selsey ,look forward to using them when I sell mine , Lee booth.

For context, since university I have rented for over 10 years. I have always paid on time, kept the property well and have always gotten my deposit back in full. Any interaction with the respective Letting Agency has always been professional in nature and without issues. Therefore, it’s such a shame that the last ever house I rented before buying my own house was via Henry Adams Lettings in Horsham as they single handedly have undone all those previous positive rental experiences.
My grievance is with the appalling unprofessionalism of their staff during my notice period.
Out of goodwill, I obliged the Letting Agency to conduct viewings during my notice period as I’ve always done. Days later, I was sent an email to ask would I be available the next day at 1pm to allow these new tenants access so that they could take measurements for their furniture. As Henry Adams did not have keys they expected me to facilitate this (their issue and not mine). It is highly inconsiderate and naive to think that a working person would be available at such short notice in the middle of a working day to facilitate this. Despite telling them of my unavailability I was constantly hounded and harassed by a bombardment of subsequent emails asking when would I be free. Even when I said I can’t facilitate this due to my professional and personal commitments I was still sent emails asking what day and time would I be available. It’s fine to ask but if someone says no then you have to respect that. It got to the point where I actually questioned whether the Letting’s Manager was illiterate as I could not of been more un-ambiguous and clearer in my email. I was still a paying tenant yet was being pestered constantly by them. In one day, I was emailed by two different people to ask about my availability. One person even emailed me to say a locksmith was trying to get in touch to change the locks. What a horribly intimidating way to treat a paying tenant? How can a so called ARLA registered Letting Agency behave like this? How can they be so ignorant and disrespectful to infringe on a tenant’s legal Right to Quiet Enjoyment? In order to stop the constant emails and stress it was bringing me I rang the Letting’s Manager. She was highly defensive and completely out of her depth in dealing with a customer complaint. She constantly spoke over me and never accepted responsibility that her and her team over stepped the mark. It became very apparent during the conversation that the reason the Letting Team whom report into her are so unprofessional are due to the (low) standards that she sets.
When it came to the check out inventory it was clear that Henry Adams in Horsham held a grudge against me. They tried to withhold as much of the deposit as they could from me. For example, they accused me of killing two out-door plants. When I asked what were the names of the plants that I supposedly killed they could not answer me.10 days after sending me ‘The Check-Out Inventory’ they said I had also broken a curtain pole despite me not having access to the property during those 10 days. Over 23 emails were sent back and forth. More stress! Eventually my full deposit was released back to me without any acknowledgement or apology from them. In hindsight, I wish the dispute had gone to an independent arbitrator to highlight what a highly petty and unprofessional Letting Agency they are.
To future tenants; I would advise to avoid properties managed by Henry Adams in Horsham. From my experience, they have no respect for tenants and lack professionalism.
To future Land-Lords; the rental shortage in the South East is no excuse to harass tenants who are paying your mortgage/pension/income. Henry Adams take a considerable percentage cut from your rental income but end up turning tenants off your property.
For Henry Adams Management; urgent training needs to be conducted on the basics of a tenant’s entitlement to Quiet Enjoyment. Your staff give your industry as a whole a bad name. Today’s tenants are your future landlords.

We found a house that we liked that was listed for sale with Henry Adams Horsham. After viewing the property, we decided to put our house on the market subject to our offer being provisionally accepted which we were assured that it would be by the estate agent from Henry Adams. We sold our house through Henry Adams very quickly only to then be told that our offer was not accepted. The estate agent had lied just to make the sale. We reluctantly increased our offer and, after weeks of back and forth, we finally came to an agreement.
During our initial viewing, we noted that there were a couple of areas that were water marked. We were informed that one area in a bedroom was going to be looked at by the owner, and the other area in the garage the estate agent decided to immediately, and without request for her opinion, inform us was from an old leak. We were then told that the leak in the bedroom was not going to be investigated by the owner and that nothing of the sort had ever been suggested. The old leak in the garage turned out to be an existing leak and this week the ceiling came down followed by an awful lot of water.
On the day of completion, we had until 14:00 to vacate our previous property. At 11:00 I received a call from Henry Adams asking "If we were out yet?". I informed them that were likely to be finished around 12:30. My wife then received another call from Henry Adams stating that "the property is no longer legally yours so you need to be out!".
Overall our experience with Henry Adams, and one female estate agent in particular, was awful. She told nothing but lies just to make a sale and we have since learnt, without even mentioning any names, that my wife's colleague pulled out of a purchase through Henry Adams as a direct result of the estate agent in question's conduct. We would never use this company for the sale or purchase of a property again.

I was looking for a house to rent and found on on the CHICHESTER website, asked about it and the lady said that they do a video call with me and my wife at 3.00 on friday 7/7/23, No video call arrived, called them at 4.15 and was told that someone was viewing the house and they would send the video. a very rushed video arrived this morning, and when I went to ask the next step in the process would be, I was told that someone would call me back. just had the call at 15.16, to say that applications have already gone to the owners, and they did'nt care if I was interested in the house.Dont Touch With A Barge Pole
We recently moved out of a rental property managed by the Chichester Branch of Henry Adams Lettings. We had been model tenants for 2 years and were appalled by the treatment we received from Henry Adams. We left the property in immaculate condition and yet Henry Adams found every little detail possible to try and keep back as much of the deposit as they could. Be warned that you will not get your full deposit back!
Daisy Kindred, in particular, was rude and patronising. Do yourself a favour and let a property with a different agent!

Henry Adams chichester, they have been amazing from the beginning. I can't thank Charlie Salter enough for dealing with everything so quickly, he was so professional, attentive and helpful throughout the whole process he was a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommend Charlie and Henry Adams.
Extremely disappointed with Henry Adams Horsham service. Firstly they requested that I pay for ‘professional photography’ upfront, the photographer had to attend twice due to taking poor photographs the first time around, this resulted in delaying putting our property on the market for the date we agreed. Henry Adams then chose to advertise it and take viewings without the agreed open day.
There were not many viewings during the 7 weeks they had the property on the market, feedback was extremely poor until we gave notice to end the contract. In addition, despite all our problems they asked us to reduce the asking price within the first 4 weeks, we were left with the gut feeling that they were using our property to aid the sale of others on their books, we can’t put into words how disappointed we are with the service Henry Adams Horsham provided, I would strongly advise sellers to avoid this estate agent.

I recently purchased a property through Henry Adams in Selsey, given it was a leasehold flat and the management company was not helpful, I have to say a big thank you to the team, but especially to Kevin for his patience, tenacity and professionalism throughout. He went that extra mile to do everything possible for what turned out to be a difficult and lengthy process which would have been so much simpler had the management company been more proactive and communicative. What a brilliant letting agency, easily the best i have interacted with. Alex from the Storrington branch couldn't have been more of a help. Out of all of the agencies we spoke to, and all the agents we dealt with Alex was stand out wonderful. This could have been a very stressful time for us as we have a slightly unique financial situation but he made us feel so optimistic, and helped at every opportunity. He was an absolute delight to speak to and I honestly don't think there is anything he could have done to make this a smoother process, completely stand out service. Thank you so much for your kind and helpful correspondence and overall cheerful manner throughout, sending us properties and keeping us in mind. We are over the moon with the property we have finalised on. I have no doubt Alex will go far within the company and deserves all the best.
