There is no greater place we have ever stayed! The accommodation is second to none and we were lucky enough to secure The Dairy and The Croft for my 60th birthday celebrations. Sarah, Andrew and Lauren made our stay so special and looked after us so well. It truly is the most special place on earth. We visited Mossyard bay and the amazing 1littlefarm shop and can highly recommend the sourdough and sausage rolls! We will definitely be back to stay as it’s just perfect

We really feel we’ve found a little oasis of calm at Grobdale of Girthon. There’s really nowhere like it for stepping back from busy lives for a while. The location is incredible with beautiful walks from the doorstep and also stargazing as it’s within the Dark Sky Park. The coast is a short car journey away and it’s in perfect proximity to Wigtown - Scotland’s Town of Books and Kircudbright which is an artist’s town. The scenery is incredible with uninterrupted views across the countryside and the cottages have been designed to maximise those views. The service provided by Sarah and Andy is second to none. The cottages are beautifully and thoughtfully designed with decor that mirrors the colours outside. There is a farm shop on site providing meat reared on the farm and eggs. On our arrival there was a welcome hamper with eggs, locally produced marmalade and jam as well as shortbread. The log burner was laid ready to light, with kindling and logs provided. Outdoors there are seating areas and a fire pit, perfect for stargazing. On a fortnight’s stay our cottage was refreshed with towels and bedding, plus our washing was done from the onsite laundry. We even had fresh dog towels, bowls, treats and a tennis ball for the pooch. All television channels are accessible, there is a good broadband network as well.

One of the best family holidays we have had in a while. Grobdale is located in the SE of the Galloway Forest Park and perfect if you're looking for peace and quiet yet close to local towns, beaches and historical sites. We stayed in the Byre which is modern, spacious and has all the amenities you could need. The shower was to die for and the beds are massive and very comfortable. There is ample parking for all. Sarah and Andrew are great hosts and on hand if you need anything. They have a farm shop selling produce from their small holding which is basically open when they are in. The food was delicious and Lauren's recommendation of streaky bacon for breakfast was spot on. Sadly for us we chose the time when the full moon was at its fullest but at other times we understand the night view of the stars is amazing. During our stay we visited Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright, Gatehouse of Fleet and Wigtown, Threave House and Gardens, Doone and Mossyard beaches. The views, walks and Loch's are wonderful and there is so much more. So if you're looking for a holiday where the nearest neighbour is miles away, the only sounds on a morning are the birds and sheep and you can breathe the fresh air of peace and quiet...look no further.

Amazing cottages all finished to a very high standard.
At first we were worried it would be to quiet, we lead busy lives, lots of noise.
However the peaceful surrounds are amazing, you can only hear nature.
After our first night we wanted to stay forever.
The owners are lovely.
We went on the 4x4 to feed the animals, met Nora the lovely old 9 year old retired pig.
Slept like a log, beds so comfy.
Small villages nearby and the beaches are gorgeous (Mossywood).
We didn’t want to leave and are looking to go back as soon as we can.
Once you find a place like this, why go anywhere else!!

This was our second trip to Grobdale and once again it lived up to expectations. The accommodation was spotless and well equipped and the welcome from the owners was spot on. The location is amazing, with a very real sense of being "away from it all" - while at the same time having some great walking routes within easy reach and a number of other interesting places to visit no more than an hour away.

We enjoyed our third stay in The Dairy at Grobdale last week and what can I say that I haven't already said before. It's truly the perfect place to stay for a peaceful, relaxing holiday and is a true slice of heaven. As a family we cannot love or recommend it more.

We stayed in the Byre cottage this is our 2nd visit. The cottage is excellent with every amenity you could wish for. It was so cosy a home from home. The views around the farm are amazing we enjoyed walking around the farm . We also purchased meat from the farm shop which is outstanding . There are numerous interesting places to visit in the local area. What makes it so special here is the welcome and customer service you receive from Sarah Andy and Lauren . They are so helpful and do everything they can to ensure you have a wonderful stay . We hope to return in the future

This is a lovely place for a self-catering holiday, and the owners are great. The cottage (we stayed in the Croft) is very clean, well-equipped and comfortable, with a scenic view across the valley from a big lounge window. There's a lot to see and do in Dumfries & Galloway, and it's one of my favourite parts of Scotland.

Second visit and every bit as comfortable and relaxing as we expected from previous experience. Very pleasant place and welcome and look forward to booking again soon

Second time this year I have visited, yes, it is that good. Andy, Sarah & Lauren are so welcoming taking time to show my granddaughter (3yo) the various farm animals and getting her to observe the higher care welfare feeding regimes. My grandson (14yo) loved being involved in some of the farm activities. The cottage (The Croft, in my case), is fully equipped, wonderfully clean, comfortable and welcoming. Location is brilliantly isolated and yet within easy reach, there are lovely walks in the vicinity or by going a little further afield. I’ve booked for next year, kind of says it all.

Just returned from a week in the Dairy . Wow! Sarah, Lauren and Andy are great hosts. They really have thought about everything and do their best to make your holiday memorable. Their farm is so beautiful and peaceful . We slept well in a super comfortable bed with high quality bedding, in fact everything in the cottage is of a very high standard. Great attention to detail. Lovely walks from
farm and 2 great golf courses close by. Really enjoyed visiting Kirkcubright and Threave house , so much to see in the area. A hidden gem!

Sarah, Andy & Lauren work extremely hard to make our visit to Grobdale as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The location is very peaceful and the cottage was first class and excellent value for money. We loved the option to order a delicious meal ready to ‘pop in the oven’ on arrival - what a great idea after a long journey on the road. The welcome pack including freshly laid eggs is super and the availability of their Farm Shop gives guests further options. They have thought of everything to make our stay complete - and we look forward to going back again as soon as we can.

As always a special holiday for us. We are returning visitors for Sarah and Andy and it's such a special place especially for my mam who loves it there! It's quiet, peaceful and a plus exceptional hosts!! This is literally becoming our second home!!

We had an excellent holiday hosted by lovely people.
The cottages are well appointed, warm and comfortable.
You can walk directly from the door and because you are away from the road it’s very quiet and peaceful.
We ate Pork and Lamb grown on the farm from the farm shop freezer , it was excellent.
Gatehouse is not far away and a pleasant surprise as it is quite entrepreneurial has everything we needed.

A holiday at Grobdale will press the reset button in a matter of hours. Superb accommodation- Sarah and Andy have thought of everything. Beautifully converted buildings to an exceptionally high standard - extremely comfortable and welcoming. Lovely area to explore or just kick back and enjoy the variety of wildlife and animals. Booking at lambing season adds an extra element that is something special.

We had a lovely two weeks in The Croft in March. We have stayed many times at Grobdale each trip has been delightful. Sarah, Andy and Lauren are the perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble. All the cottages are spotless and very comfortable. We were lucky enough to see the first two lambs born this year and name one of them Robbie. We will return very soon to see more of the lambs. Lots to see and do in the area.

Sarah and Andy are both outstanding hosts. Nothing is too much trouble and they are very happy to involve you in the working farm as much as you like.
The accommodation is excellent. Impeccable attention to detail and spotlessly clean. The cottages have everything you need whether staying in or going out.
Can't fault the provision it is really exceptional.
