GreatSchools used to be the gold standard for school reviews and then they were infiltrated by rogues who thought it would be fun to turn things upside down and give A schools 3s and 4s and failure factory schools 9s and 10s. They even give brand new schools that have almost no data 2s, even though there are literally zero metrics to pull from. GreatSchools is misleading the public and effectively creating mischief... I hope that their 501 C 3 founders and grantors will take a look at this situation and bring justice to all the schools that they are causing reputational harm and thus retore the integrity of a schools rating engine who's credibility is plummeting with increasing velocity...

Absolute garbage. How can a school with 24% math and 23% reading proficiencies be rated a 10, you ask? If only we knew! They don't disclose their metrics or the data they use to rate. Complete scam that parents should absolutely not trust. We have inarguably failing schools in Tucson with abysmal math and reading scores that are rated 9's and 10's on this site. Do not trust this site's ratings.

Very disappointed with GreatSchools. Rating system is not clear or transparent, and data does not seem to be updated quickly enough, with some 2021 data still published. The overall rating can be skewed for newer schools that do not yet qualify for certain categories, making the score misleading. They are widely used by parents when searching for schools for their children. However, they don't seem to care.

They site will delete your review. Do not trust this site to find a SAFE school for your child to attend

Disingenuous and biased

Posted an uncomplimentary yet very real firsthand experience of a local school that GreatSchools refused to post. They did not state why it wasn't posted, but it most assuredly was in "violation of guidelines", which are clearly selectively applied in favor of the schools.

I would be more than happy to post a positive review of a school if deserved, but this school was definitely undeserving of praise and my daughter's very real experience should not be selectively suppressed.

Don't trust GreatSchools. Not only are they known to favor whiter, more affluent schools (see the chalkbeat article from 12/5/2019); they will also do what they can to protect such schools from criticism.
