A huge thank you to Lynne and the team!! I requested for the lettering to be redone on a family grave. The team reviewed the grave, cleaned this and then come back to me with some recommendations (which was so perfect.) They were so professional and more importantly, knowledgeable to what was needed. Would never have believed a headstone could look so good
I wanted to get my great-grandparents' headstone cleaned up because after 60 years in the graveyard their names were hardly visible under the dirt. This meant a lot to me as I had recently lost my grandmother, their daughter. She had wanted to be buried with them but logistically this wasn't possible. I felt like the next best thing to do would be to make sure their headstone looked like new again. I had no idea where to start with this but Lynne at GraveClean talked me through the process before I decided. Then she handled everything, from informing the church, to finding the cleaner. I didn't have to do anything. The before and after photos are stunning and I am so happy my great-grandparents' grave now looks cared for again. I feel like they would be touched and so would my grandmother.

Excellent Cleaning
Firstly, our family are all amazed at how good the headstone looks after being cleaned - none of us thought it would look so clean and fresh.
We had very good communication with Lynne in the office who arranged the work.
The price for the cleaning work is very reasonable, especially as other quotes were a lot higher.

Outstanding
Lynne & the team are great. The quality of the work is overwhelmingly good. My grandparents stone is next to my fathers and was faded, dirty and hadnt seen a clean since it was installed in 1990. The clean and rewrite service was amazing. I’d recommend anyone to this company.

The memorial in question is a sandstone headstone and curb set. Our work successfully removed the algae, moss and biological growth, which is the primary purpose of professional memorial cleaning. However, sandstone is a naturally porous and absorbent material. Over time it darkens due to age, moisture retention and mineral staining, and unlike marble or limestone it does not return to a bright white finish once cleaned.
We understand your comment regarding our photos and would like to clarify this point. Our website and marketing materials show a range of memorial materials, including marble and limestone. These stones can appear very similar to sandstone when heavily soiled, but once cleaned they often return to a much lighter appearance. Unfortunately, sandstone behaves very differently and the final result is governed by the stone’s natural characteristics, not the cleaning method.
In addition, the secondary clean and protective treatment applied as part of the service will continue to work over time, helping to inhibit future biological regrowth and giving the stone the best possible chance to gradually improve in appearance as it naturally dries and stabilises.
It’s also important to note that, in many cases, the exact stone type is not fully identifiable until biological growth has been removed. This is why we do not guarantee a specific colour outcome and instead guarantee safe, non-abrasive cleaning appropriate to the material.
We appreciate that this may not have been the transformation you were hoping for, but the cleaning has been carried out correctly and in line with best practice for historic and fragile sandstone memorials.

Customer service as it used to be!
I was totally impressed by the level of customer service from the initial contact through to the clean itself. We experienced a few problems with the local authority but Lynne in the office dealt with them with grace and good humour.
The finished result was just amazing - a total transformation.
