winning bids are snatched back if price not right
This site is a scam and reviews are not supported with any follow-ups. I won a bid and the item taken back before I could pay for it. The item was a car and the seller said it had engine noise so they would not continue the listing. I got the item cheaper than they wanted to sell it so they made up an excuse not to sell to me. I then asked to buy it with the problem because I knew it didn't have a problem and they said they couldn't sell it with a problem regardless. Govdeals sell broken stuff all day. Such a scam. I called Govdeals and got more bull from them. I will buy local.
This site is a scam
A buddy of mine and I were bidding on a truck and had the high bid for over 2 hours. In the last 10 seconds a guy comes on and out bids us by $50 and wins… that’s not what I’m irritated with. It’s the fact that it states in the gov deals rules that if you bid in the last three minutes, then the time is extended. The time was never extended and we lost out because of a govdeals failure. If we lost out due to the buyer just paying more, then I wouldn’t be mad. It’s the fact that the website is so trash that it can’t follow its own rules. The same fella who did the last minute bid also did it on multiple different trucks and won on all of them. I don’t know what shady stuff is going on, but I will never use this site again. I find better deals on Facebook anyways.
I was a new customer
I was a new customer. You're limited to bid on three items which you have to pick up and wait 30 days before you can bid on 6 items, then 9 or send them a $1K deposit.
After you pay you have to print certificates on each item to show you paid. (3 pages of printing each item) Not just show a paid invoice. The webpage didn't work, the certificates wouldn't print. To get my 3 certificates sent to my email address took 3 phone calls and 4 messages. All of my messages went unanswered. One call I left a message after sitting on hold for a little while it forces a message and hangs up on you. The first phone call they sent one certificate instead of all three. They said to refresh my "my bids" page and it should work, well it didn't even after restarting my computer.
I would have bid on a lot more items and right now something I want is $1 with a day left but I'm locked out. I'm just glad my pick up is only 20 miles away. If it had been a longer drive I could have spent more on gas than my items. There are a lot better easier to use auction sites than this one. I at least have a credible seller or I'd have to give them a minus one.
It would be difficult to make this waste any more of my time than it already has. At least the two times I was able to talk with someone I didn't have to wait forever.
High Prices and Poor Site Software…
Biggest problem I encountered besides what are most likely dealers dominating the bids, is that the Govdeals.com site is frequently ill-disposed to "asset searches." Can't get the site to find anything I type in.
Scams and the company is in on it
Scams and the company is in on it. The biggest scam that I've encountered is "The lot of 50 rings" scam out of Pennsylvania . They post 50 rings about half of them will appear to be made of the precious metals. They will make no claims about the rings and encourage you to "come inspect" for yourself and they also won't answer any questions about the rings like are the stamped with any markings. I brought a $600 dollar box of the rings that I could have gotten for under $30 at a local craft shop
BUYER BEWARE
I was the high bidder on a vehicle. The listed stated "Clear Title". Come to find out over 2 weeks of waiting the seller did not have the title at all. It was still at the previous owners bank. Therefore I have a useless purchase sitting here.
Govdeals only states that the seller needs to make this right. This transaction went through their platform and it is not my problem to resolve. They will not assist with refund, expenses incurred and the return of the vehicle I am about to hire an attorney that will go after both companies for the time efforts and suffering that I have endured due to the misrepresentation and false advertising that transpired
Former 18 year customer with over $100K buys
Had been buying with GovDeals and its associated companies (ie, federal military sales) since 2006. Recently, GD has started hosting listings from shady businesses (in our case, towing and veh. repo) who are practicing questionable sales practices (a clear title in most states means either a title in the name of the seller, or court seizure documents), such as listing vehicles with "clear titles", yet the titles are still in the names of the people the vehicles were seized or repo'ed from. Our dispute was over shipping on a less than $100 total purchase. The seller posted a poorly worded listing, then refused to adhere to the terms, instead falsely claiming we demanded a refund of the purchase price, which we did not do. We considered the paid for items as a loss and suggested the seller donate them to charity. Our last purchase was a 4X4 dually diesel Ford F350. GD locked our account and refused to back us up on the dispute. We are done with them. A loss of a 18 year customer who has spent over $100K. All over less than $100.
Govdeals represents taxpayer asset…
Govdeals represents taxpayer asset disposal sale via auction platform. I've purchased auction items there for 30 years. In addition I've purchased from many other commercial auction services. Govdeals has become the stinker. When preview in person isn't possible buyers who can preview have unfair advantage. Ok in the case of commercial enterprise. Not so when taxpayer assets are involved. Govdeals used to make an effort in item descriptions but no longer can even be counted on to pass along consigner notes. Too big to fail?
If you see this
If you see this, it means Trustpilot hasn’t deleted it yet, but they will soon, but my opinion about Govdeal’s is that it’s a total scam and they have scammed the City of Albuquerque and Bernillio County. Probably many more state governments. If you bid on an item and win the seller may or may not be available for pick up. If not available they can report you for not picking up the items in time and Govdeals will access a 40% fee. They will keep all your money and try to get the 40% fee too. If they can screw you out of enough money they won’t try to get the 40% fee, but I believe that this site is a total scam Trustpilot will delete this post soon, so you are lucky to have seen it before you risk your money.
I just got overcharged by their new software.
I have been buying on govdeals.com for years. Overall it has been a positive experience, although some sellers are much better than others. Last week I entered some of my bids on the "MyBids" summary page instead of individual items pages. Even though the entry lines say "Max Bid", and I had autobid turned on, all of those bids went straight to my max bid. The evidence is in the bid history. The final bid should be the second highest plus one bid increment. They ended up nicking me for an extra $76 and change. When I called and asked for a credit or refund they told me that I must have done something to mess things up, and that the final bid was my responsibility, not theirs. I will be reporting this to the FTC, as should anyone else this has happened to.
I'm livid at the point I am ready to…
I'm livid at the point I am ready to file suit against govdeals. Beta testing there app auto bid places bid in full and its funny there seems to be lots of shilling going on also. Seller are misrepresenting items. I am on the verge of opening a meaningless case just to stick it to them for 250.00 plus court costs I will be contacting the department of banking along with Dunn and Bradstreet if they don't resolve a significant mistake and I promise my suit will open them to other suits.

Customer service is a joke, when you have a Question they have no Ideal, EVERYTIME I EVER CALLED they had no clue nor did they care they just said call the seller wow, I called you to take care of the problem you collect a fee for the sale again wow, And yes they simply lock you out of the site if they have a Problem, I hope that someone will look into this company soon !!!

My account got locked for no reason. It was not for failing to pay because it got locked before bidding ended.
