Be Cautious – High Charges and No FCA Oversight
I applied for a £10,000 loan but was offered only £2,000. The repayment terms were very steep: 16 weekly payments of £178.75 — a total of £2,860. In my experience, this felt excessive and unsuitable for my business needs.
I was asked to provide personal and business documents, but never received a clear contract. After this interaction, I began receiving unsolicited contact from other companies, which raised concerns about how my data may have been shared.
Please be aware:
Got Capital Ltd is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), and therefore the Financial Ombudsman Service cannot consider complaints against them. This also means they are not listed on the official FCA Financial Services Register, and do not operate under UK consumer credit regulations.
While they promote themselves as a funding provider offering "royalty-based" financing, it’s important to understand that they operate outside of FCA regulation. If you prefer the protection of a regulated lender, consider checking the FCA register before proceeding.
This review reflects my personal experience and is shared to help other small businesses make informed decisions.

We take all feedback seriously, but it's important to address inaccurate and misleading claims.
To clarify: the reviewer is not a client of our company. They submitted an application, which was assessed using our standard affordability and risk-based criteria. As our funding advances are unsecured, risk and affordability — based on both the business and the owner — are key factors in determining any offer (and documents - such as ID and business bank statements - are required for underwriting, as is standard practice for any funder).
In this case, the application presented a very high level of risk with limited affordability. Rather than issue a blanket decline, we extended a reduced offer. The terms were clearly outlined and entirely optional. No agreement was entered into, nor discussed past the top-line offer. The funding process is clear and transparent; once a client accepts any offer in principle, all details pertaining to business funding are shared via email, phone, and on recorded video confirmation calls - in addition to the contract document itself - ahead of entering any agreement.
To reiterate: personal and financial data is used solely to assess applications. We do not sell or share applicant information under any circumstances. If you received unsolicited contact, it is almost certainly due to submitting applications elsewhere — something we see regularly when businesses explore funding options.
We provide unsecured funding advances (not loans) and support hundreds of UK businesses every week with access to fast, flexible funding. We are committed to treating every applicant fairly, transparently, and without prejudice — and that will never change.
We welcome genuine, constructive feedback. However, using a public review platform to discredit us based on a declined or adjusted offer — particularly when no funding was taken — paints an unfair and misleading picture. Critically, it overlooks key details based on the risk and affordability assessments of your business.
