Another Very Annoyed (non) User

As many many other reviewers have found out, Genie Point seem to not understand that EV’s do actually need successfully charging when they are low on juice. There are two Morrison’s sites that I would like to charge at, but both have faulty Genie Point chargers that have been broken for at least six months!!!! No reply to my emails either. Can’t believe that a company with such an unreliable service are still around!!

Geniepoint unreliable

Geniepoint not working. Rang customer service to which the response was to agree that it wasn't working and the offer of finding another charging point. Judging from the reviews, Geniepoint often aren't working, so I wasn't going to drive and waste more charge finding another one specifically. There was no information on when the charging point was going to be working, so ultimately Geniepoint just aren't reliable and as a company they need to be reviewing their whole business.

GeniePoint chargers are often broken

GeniePoint chargers are often broken, and don't get repaired for weeks or months. Even when they are working they are slow to start charging and don't accept contactless payments. They normally only have a single charger in each location and there is probably less than 50% chance of getting a charge at any given charger.

Once again I visit a Morrison's for a charge and the unit is not functioning. This was in Buxton. The set up at most Morrison's is hopeless as there is generally only one unit. It seems the norm that if the unit is not in use it's broken.

When basic common sense is missing

Imagine this: you decide to start a company providing a charging service for EV owners. Surely the first criteria would be this: How do we make it quick and easy for the customer to charge their vehicle?
I can tell you for certain that Geniepoint have totally failed in this regard. Save yourself some agony and go to Gridserve or one of the others that can provide a user friendly, well designed service.

BP service station, Shockley, oakhampton, out of service, call them, exceptionally rude, refused to resolve, said it could takes days to be fix and to call AA instead. Do not use!

Unsuccessful charge

Single charge point showing signs of being online, wouldn't work after multiple attempts (downloading app, registering, topping up £10). Took ages to connect to customer service, told it was offline, but followed suggested instructions and still not working. Then phone seemed to divert mid call and kept ringing with no answer. Gave up.

Absolutely shocking have EV car as courtesy car and no charging points at local Morrisons in St Ives would connect there were 2 families trying to charge vehicles to no avail- poor shoddy services.

Awful Charge Points

Only gave one star, because I couldn't select zero stars.

Had an EV for a month and none of the Genie Point chargers in Ellesmere Port have worked during that time. However, if you looked at their app map, you'd think everything was hunky dory and that all the charge points were working.

Called customer service this morning and they said, "Yes, those machines are faulted, we are waiting for an Engineer". They said that when I first called two weeks ago.

Countless trips out to the charge points, only to find their machines aren't working, time after time, after time.

Do not rely on the machines in Ellesmere Port, or you'll find yourself stuck without any charge.

Genie Point need to realise that the one thing charge points need to be is reliable.

GeniePoint chargers are useless

GeniePoint have unfortunately installed entirely useless chargers. They are not contactless so you cannot pay with a credit card and they do not recognise the main RFID cards. I have spent two very cold nights trying to charge my car from a newly installed GeniePoint charger only to find out that they are set up in such a way that they basically will not function. It is extraordinary that a new venture should try to establish itself with entirely useless machines!
It is pointless going anywhere near a GeniePoint charger until they remove these non-functioning, prehistoric machines that someone must’ve unloaded on them and put in proper machines that work like all the other chargers in the UK with contactless and proper RFID card recognition.
Don’t waste your time.

50% of the time the machines are not…

50% of the time the machines are not operational, or do start charging and then fail after 10 mins. Often they then go unavailable for the rest of the day. Customer services never answer the phone to help. Now been on hold for 20 mins and no answer. I now avoid GeniePoint and go to Shell or BP garages. Same price but I know they work more often then not. GeniePoint switch board often closed due to ‘technical difficulties’. Poorly maintained network with very poor backup. Take your money else where.

Went to nearest InstaVolt and was super easy to use

All local chargers (Wymondham & Norwich)

Update on review below....As of May 2023 all finally seem to be working :-)

All local chargers (Wymondham, Norfolk Morrisons) are faulted, have been for months.

Norwich, 10 miles away, big City, again all chargers (4 x locations) faulted.

I reported to customer services over a month ago, didn't even get a response

GeniePoint EV charge at Mottisons

GeniePoint EV charge at Mottisons, Swansea.
Charge cut out half way through charging.
Went for a walk whilst charging. Came back on only charged to 44% when should have been over 80%.
Moved to other charging point. Won't be using GeniePoint any time soon.

These lot are clearly having their cash…

These lot are clearly having their cash flow funded by their parent company because it’s certainly not coming from their customers. I mean, how can you have a sufficient cash flow from continuing operations when all your chargers a faulty?

It’s like an airline having their entire fleet go tech, it’s amazing they’re lot are still in business.

Very poor service!

I have contacted these people 3 times via email, about there EV charge points not working at Morrisons in Norwich and Wymondham. Both points been out of action for weeks. They haven't the decency to reply and give me some idea how long these will be out of action!
Least when you contact other companies with a problem, they REPLY!
