Shame on you Generac watched your advertisement for a stand by generator on TV and reached out for a free consultation with one of your dealers The Wire Guys from hazelton Pa called me and i set up an appointment for the following week I was home waiting for them to come NO SHOW NO CALL i called them to see if they were just running late They were aware of the appointment but with a lame excuse wanted to set up an appointment for the next week not even a courtesy call to say we can’t make it what would happen if i have them install a generator and need service taking advantage of a Senior Citizen
Extremely Unsafe Generator
I bought a brand new Generac Generator online for over $3000. It blew up the first time I used it due to a faulty part Generac later agnowledged needed to be recalled. Luckily no one was near it when it blew up because serious injury likely would of occurred. Generac told me they would send me the part needed to make it work safely in October. Called today January 10th and told they couldn't tell me when they would be shipping me the part because they don't have the parts and don't know when they will get them. For your safety and your loved ones safety, please think twice about buying a Generac.
Absolutely the worse customer service…
Absolutely the worse customer service ever as a vendor. Calls totaling 6 hour's, no call backs, no resolutions after spending thousands of dollars' as builder. Clueless customer service, horrible advise and again, never had worse service in over 50 year's in business.
I want to add to my previous review
I just want to add, since I now have even more information about this heinous company, to my previous review about Generac and call out their deceitful, arrogant, cheating manager of customer service, Rob Preuss, who does not even have the decency to return e-mails asking for an explanation as to why he feels it right that I pay an additional $5,000 for freight, labor and parts for my brand new Generac generator that was broken the day that I bought it.
And the executives of Generac are literally unreachable. They hide in their ivory tower, won't take - or return phone calls, and won't even accept Fed Ex letters.
You are insane if - with all of the great generator companies out there - if you buy a generator from these cheating thugs.
I can only pray that somebody with more resources than I have, gets these criminals in to a court of law, which is exactly where they belong.
I do believe in karma, and based soley on how they gobsmacked and cheated me with awfulness, these felons, most especially the deceitful Rob Preuss, have a heaping helping to look forward to.

1.6 RATING IS TO GENEROUS
I see that they have an overall rating of 1.6 which I think is generous. I reached out to corporate customer service wanting to purchase a whole home natural gas generator and it was a horrible experience to say the least. After not getting any answers form the first two reps, I asked to speak with a supervisor and then waited another 15 minutes while the rep texted back and forth with Dominique who apparently did not want to take the call at all. Eventually she picked up and I asked her to discuss the natural gas generators. She did not want to and advised I should get with a sales rep in my area and provided a couple contacts via email. There was no one reachable with the first number provided and the second contact was not helpful as we had trouble communicating as his English was not great and I do not speak Spanish. He also didn't seem that interested to sell me a generator but did share they wouldn't install one if I bought it. Bottom line the worst experience. If you need a back up generator go solar or look into EcoFlow.

It seems it matters when their authorized dealer gets around to actually purchasing it for your your job is what they count. they DENIED me the promo because the AUTHORIZED dealer was so busy it took him sometime to actually order my unit, the use this as an excuse to NOT be true to their promo.

Look at other generators on the market as there are better ones. Appears you have to simply call in for a code to get the extended warranty. Proof they actually don't want to give them out. They have confidence in there product

More problems than it's worth?
Bought a Powercell Solar system last summer from Solar Titan. Now they are out of business, so can't go to them for warranty work. Contacted Generac in August and they remoted in to my system and tell me that I have a blown fuse, and it's on backorder. They assigned my warranty work to SunNova in August, and I never heard from them. Today I got an email from support saying that my case has been assigned to NovaSource. When I called them, they said that they will need to fly someone here to look at my system because they don't have anyone near me (Northern Alabama) able to work on it. Meanwhile, I have no battery storage. On the positive side, I'm still making power and it's reducing my electric bill (but not as much as the payments on the system). Given the choice to make over again, I wouldn't go down the solar path; the technology, service/support and cost/benefit just isn't there yet. If I could, I'd have them come take the system back.

DO NOT BUY A GENERAC!!! They are absolutely horrible about customer service and warranty claims. Our first warranty claim took over a year to get fixed. This second one we are at 9 months in the process and no one can give me a straight answer and they are NOT looking to resolve the problem. Offered to do a customer resolution form today but could not give me a timeframe on how long it would take. PLUS it will void the current warranty claim that was filed back in January. If you are looking for a unit that stands behind their product, Generac is NOT the company to purchase from!

Buyer Beware....Generac does not stand behind their product. I bought a brand new generator used it when needed....and it stopped working with 32 hours on the dial. I went back to Generac for help in fixing/resolving my issue as to why a product with such little hours will not have any output. It would run, but would not work. After months of going back and forth.....even contacting the President Aaron Jagdfeld for help. They told me there was NOTHING they could do to rectify the problem. I was just out of luck with the lemon I had purchased.
Generac is a rip off and doesn't stand behind there product.....they do a good job of marketing but when you need the product to work as it should, it doesn't.
Buy a Honda generator...they get great reviews and have wonderful customer service. Generac is junk!
Not buying a Generac
After speaking with the company and doing a LOT of research, we will NOT be purchasing a Generac generator. Due to the limited space here, it would be impossible to go into all the negatives and the person I spoke with was did not represent their products well. Also, we attempted to speak with their local installers and was not good either. The company said they would do everything but they tried to get us to sign on to a very expensive (and unnecessary) maintenance plan. There were additional costs that were thousands of dollars to get the generator connected and working. Just because they advertise often on TV doesn't make them the one to choose. There are several other brands that I have found to be much better in quality and price.
Powercell and all of there solar power…
Powercell and all of there solar power components trash run fast worst financial decision I've ever made. Bad equipment, customer service and authorized installers. The authorized installers whent out of business and so when you try call Generac for help because their equipment is constantly failing they are no help totally just blow you off. While the installation company was still in business they had replace the snaps (connections at the solar panels) and now the system is constantly needing to be reset. Blown two fuses and make no where near the power I was contracted, it almost makes 2/3 what I was contracted. And Generac has shown no concern they make you keep internet connection to the system for monitoring and your warranty to remain. Never have they contracted saying Hey we see your system has been down for three days.
Just not a good company, equipment or customer service totally a waste of money
I wanted a generator made in America
I wanted a generator made in America. I bought an 8500 to use for off grid living. I paid $1,000 for something refurbished. Red flag. They would not tell me why it was refurbished. My mistake. The battery never worked. Would not charge. Bought another. Will not hold a charge. The pull crank will not start generator without a charged battery. How stupid is that?? This is by far the worse generator on the market. Buy Honda or Westinghouse. My generator has less than 30 hours on it. I have owned it since 4/1/22.

Every single storm for 4 years now, this thing kicks on like clock work. They earned this five stars over the long term with trust and consistency.
GENERAC SOLAR SYSTEM SUCKS
got a generac solar system installed. bad idea. run. do not purchase. got system installed by what i'm being told is a third party. they got purchased by another company that went out of business. started to have problem with solar panel off line. this happen in May. Generac contacted Nova Source for repair. they did not come until july 10. so we are paying full price for an electric bill plus bill for the solar panels. in the mean time we had a power outage. battery backups did not come on. called june 15 to report this. August 14 another power outage. again no battery backup. generac stated that batteries were not installed properly do to damp basement. which we informed the first solar company that basement gets wet. "that's not a problem". they even installed battery unit on a wooden step. today is aug 29 and still trying to get them to fix issue. am paying for a system that does not work. Nova Source will not do anything unless generac issues a work order to fix. just talked to generac rep and they are still trying to locate someone local to fix problem. trying to get ahold of customer service is near to impossible. So if you are thinking about solar, find another company. would never recommend anyone purchasing their products. just my experience with this company. they get your money and no support. will update if it ever gets fixed

Generac generator motor went out in less than 2 yrs. Had power outage in my area in july and lost food and man what an inconvenience suffering without the convenience of power which the generator was to provide. Customer service sucks and no compensation of ANY kind was offered. Not extending maintenance or anything.

We have a 11 kW Generac with very little run time on it other than regular maintenance operation. This year we were informed that it had an oil leak (a $6.50 part) that will require a full breakdown and very expensive repair. I will ned up doing the repair myself, but the lack of quality on a generator with very little run time on it is frankly shocking.
Do not buy a new Generac residential…
Do not buy a new Generac residential generator. Generac has gone from reliable to unreliable. Had an existing older 20kW generator that worked perfectly fine. Had to replace it because the outer housing was rusting so badly huge chunks of metal were falling off. Generac no longer made the housing so it couldn’t be replaced. Had to spend $7000 on a new 22kW generator. Mistake! The new ones have electronic panels and circuit board and wifi. NOT GOOD!!! I went from never thinking about my generator to always thinking about my generator. There’s a status light that turns green, yellow or red. It seems the light is on yellow or red more than on green. Generac has lost its way. Forget the fancy electronics and control panels, and I don’t need to have a conversation through wifi. The old one worked perfectly and I had peace of mind. The new ones are unreliable and cause a waste of time always trying to figure out what’s wrong. Do not buy.

Four-year-old 22kw generator. Regular services, 240 hours run time. Last month service call, would, not run. New control panel installed. Today is threw a rod and trashed the motor. Over 4k to fix. I will get another brand. Run from Generac.
RUN DON’T WALK FROM GENERAC!
My husband and I have a Generac solar home power system with batteries.
I recommend, if you are thinking of purchasing a solar system, RUN from this business.
They have a third party installer and repair. The first third party company not only neglected to set the system up correctly, which cost us over 2,000, they went bankrupt.
(We were paying a full electric bill for months before we got help from another solar company’s salesman to know why we were Not seeing ANY SAVINGS)
Generac hired another third party company to service our system. At the end of May a lightning storm came through. We made a call at the beginning of June for our system to be serviced. Without a phone call or set up appointment, the service men showed up at our front door. I’m just happy I was home to have them look at our system. The men told me they were Not there for a service call, but to update our system. I asked them, since you are here can you please tell me why it’s not working and why I’m paying a full electric bill on top of my monthly bill for the solar. They agreed to look. I was very grateful They told me they had to replace the inverter. They would have to wait for the part to come in a schedule an appointment.
It is now August 1 and they still have not fixed our system.
We called Generac directly to see if they could help us. After several calls to both companies, from late June to present day (Aug. 1,2023) NOTHING has been fixed.
So we have a bill for a solar system that does not work l, a full electric bill for 2 months so far, and we we have had 2 power outages sitting in the dark. The odd thing is that the 2 power outages were Not due to a storm.
My husband called the third party, SuNova, again this morning. They said they have the part, they have the work order, BUT they can not schedule an appointment Bc they have NO IDEA when someone can come out to replace the inverter. With costs rising and no idea when they will repair our system…
RUN AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!
(Not to mention the wait time to speak to anyone with Generac has been more than an hour!)
