One week after returning and I’m still reveling in memories of my adventures on the Inca Trail in Peru. I left with vague imaginings of seeing the iconic Machu Picchu archaeological site combined with some genuine anxiety about the climb itself. But as the saying goes, it’s not the destination but the journey that changes one’s life and perspective. I did not expect to be so moved by the countless experiences along the way, beginning with the picturesque cobblestoned, steep streets of Cusco, its bustling marketplace, central square, Cathedral and very friendly residents. Meeting women making beautiful weavings at a weaving cooperative, passing through little villages along a river where only donkeys provided transport, children playing happily and dogs trotting along with purpose impressed upon me that this simple lifestyle was every bit as satisfying as the one I left behind.

Once on the trail, climbing steadily to one ruin after another, the accomplishments of the Incas were nearly unbelievable. But none of this would have come to light without the detailed planning and forethought of the Follow Alice crew. Our guide Mario, a native of the area, was the greatest gift. His knowledge of literally everything, from Inca architecture and history to wildlife to orchids we saw along the way was transformative. His great sense of humor and inclusive nature made us all feel comfortable and appreciated. He made sure that on the arduous part of the climb, we were able to find our own pace and never feel stressed. The camp staff was amazing. They literally treated us like royalty, catered to our every need with delicious meals, tea time with snacks, tents nicely set up including rain covers (happily not needed!)

I chose Follow Alice for this trip after a very successful trip with them climbing Kilimanjaro two years ago. This trip reinforced what I learned then – that Follow Alice pays attention to detail, carefully plans interesting aspects for the trip and chooses staff with amazing knowledge and abilities. Here you don’t only dream of reaching the site, but you’re also in for an emotional journey altogether, of discovery of culture, history, and most of all, of your own strengths.

This last is particularly essential to me and it’s one of Follow Alice’s features I love the most.

It relates in particular to the setting along the 4 days’ long hike: the quality of the equipment, the facilities, the assistance of porters and the rest of the crew hiking with us for our comfort and safety, and the food cared for by an actual cook.

Lastly our guide, Mario, has helped us get into the mood of the place from day 1, and deeply understand the culture of the Inca civilization that we so much wished to discover, sharing stories and valid insights all along.

Our safari guide Saleh was an absolute star. Extremely knowledgable and organised, and one of the kindest hearted people you can meet. He made the experience seamless, engaging and pure fun. We developed a very close bond with him over the 5 days, it was difficult to say goodbye. Genuinely.

The accommodation was superb. Every lodge was fantastic. This was one of my favourite aspects of the trip. Rooms were stunning and very comfortable. Rustic but with nice touches of luxury. I really enjoyed relaxing with a book on the porch after a day of adventure and wildlife spotting. The memories of watching sunset in front of the campfire, peering out across the endless Serengeti will stay with me forever.

The very high quality of the food was quite a surprise. I have no idea how they cook such beautiful, intricate meals in these most remote locations. Three courses is the norm, with excellent, professional service. Some of the tastiest food I have had in a very long time. Particularly in the Ang'ata lodges. I must admit, that I did not expect this in the absolute middle of nowhere, hundreds of miles from civilisation.

The safari experience itself was absolutely fantastic. The best word to describe it is pure fun. This was my first safari, and I was humming with adrenaline and sense of adventure. We spotted an enormous variety of animals and species. From leopards, rhino, cheetah, lions to pythons and elephants. Enormous herds of wildebeest, zebra and buffalo. Many exotic bird species. We really saw it all.

The landscapes in this itinerary are worth a mention, they're absolutely majestic. Even more beautiful than I had imagined. They change constantly and offer spectacular variety. From endless grassy plains, river and lake ecosystems, lush rainforests, sweeping hills and craggy mountains. (We saw Tarangire, Ngorongoro crater and The Serengeti). I did not expect this vast diversity in terrain, vegetation and landscape being honest. I pictured five days of savannah and acacia trees. But it's so, so much more than that.

All in all, this was an extremely well organised, high quality trip. Follow Alice were fantastic in every way. I really cannot fault the experience. Huge thanks again to our guide Saleh. Thank you so much for everything! It was a blast.

Just finished the Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes trek. Without doubt the best experience of my life. Stunningly beautiful and breathtaking at every turn. The service provided by Follow Alice from day one was exceptional. All arrangements were spot on. Accommodation in lodges and tea houses was great. Food was great. The schedule was perfect. We even made time to visit some other villages that weren’t on the schedule. The Nepal manager, Sonam, was highly professional and made sure everything was in place. My guide Kanchha was great company throughout the trek. Very knowledgeable and made sure I had everything I needed. Could not fault the whole experience and would highly highly recommend Follow Alice for anyone considering the spectacular Everest Base Camp trek. You will not be disappointed

This is a really great, safe and secure organization to experience a trip with. I climbed Kilimanjaro in January 2024 with my husband visa the Northern Circuit route and whilst there was rain, it was cold, the routes weren't always comfortable - travelling with Follow Alice contributed to a worthwhile adventure. The food was good, the equipment was good, the crew was beyond excellent. I wouldn't have made it to the summit without Follow Alice - My husband and I will be eternally grateful to our guides and excellent porters.

I decided after my 80th birthday climb Kilimanjaro and I searched online to find Follow Alice's site very informative and contacted them by email, extremely helpful staff with sound advice regarding the route to choose, which was Northern Circuit(best for acclimatisation) but the real pleasure was climbing Kilimanjaro with local team in Tanzania. we were four climbers and twenty two crew looking after us, the crew were outstanding from porters, assistant porters, cook an particularly guides. The guides attention to details particularly our safety and setting the pace for the climb to reach the UHURU Peak was outstanding, It was one of the best experience which I never forget, during this time on the mountain we all became a family of sisters and brothers, they are amazingly lovely people, they are an Asset to Follow Alice company, and I must say Follow Alice Company itself is an asset for the Kilimanjaro climbers.

Outstanding in all fields. Booking process was easy transparent. I booked climbing Kilimanjaro with them and am so happy I chose them. The whole crew was fantastic. Everyone from porter, chef, guides exceeded my expectations. The guides were fantastic, calm, supportive and very attentive. The chef and his team presented us with different and high quality food day in and out. The toilet was always clean an taken care of. The porters and with no exception everyone had smiles in their faces while working so hard to make our lifes on the mountain as easy as possible.

Had the time of my life summiting Kilimanjaro with Follow Alice over Christmas/NY. Truly the trip of a lifetime and Follow Alice supported us every step of the way. It truly was the best crew and I am so grateful to every single guide, porter and the entire team.
A few thoughts:
- the porters work so hard and are incredible with what they do for hikers
- Bwenje was the best lead guide ever, years and years of experience, he knew the mountain inside out and knew exactly how to get us to the top
- Gideon, Willie and Trevor were wonderful assistant guides and I loved them all
- Humphrey was a fabulous person who served us great meals every night
- Comfortable tents, sleeping mats, every single convenience and comfort thought of
- Great communication from Follow Alice in the lead up
- Thoughtful touches like brining you a coffee/tea every single morning at wake up time
- Loved the singing and dancing from the porters

I would recommend this trip to anyone and Follow Alice have a 10/10 from me.

I climbed Kilimanjaro with Follow Alice in December, summittimg on New Year’s Eve! The hike was incredible and I would recommend to anyone looking for an adventure! Joining Follow Alice for this trip made it all that much more memorable. Our hike group was put up at the same lodge leading up to go day giving us time to get to know each other - this was great!

On the trip, no detail was missed! The guides and crew were sensational and I felt looked after at all times whether hiking or relaxing. Some fantastic touches were the “morning call” where we were woken up with our hot drink of choice, incredibly clean toilet tents, and having your personal porter greet you each day for those last few gruelling moments before reaching camp to give you a cheer and take your bag! I could go on!!

Digging deeper, we had the BEST crew. Bwenji was our lead guide and he had YEARS of experience on the mountain. He was clear, calm, and ensured we were safe and having the best time. He made adjustments to our itinerary to ensure a fantastic experience and we were able to summit during the day - this was very cool!

Our assistant guides were Trevor, Gideon, and Willie! They were all incredibly fun and helpful! Trevor was the biggest cheerleader and always up for a good chat! Gideon brought the good vibes and kept everyone feeling fresh! Willie was my main man on summit day - he took my bag when it got really hard and cheered me on every step to the top. Everyone of them played a part in summit not just being successful but also heaps fun!!

I am so grateful for these four guys and every single person on the crew - they all made it an amazing experience.

Overall, Follow Alice communicated consistently, ensured we were all prepared and went out of their way to organise transport, rides into town, and so much more to make the journey smooth! I can’t say enough about how well Follow Alice did on our trip to Uganda and Kenya. The in-country guides and support were outstanding and we loved the accommodations.

My partner and I celebrated our anniversary with Follow Alice in Uganda, and we couldn't have asked for a more incredible experience. We embarked on an unforgettable journey filled with adventure, wildlife, and amazing memories.

The highlight of our trip was undoubtedly the encounters with chimpanzees and gorillas. These magnificent creatures left us in awe, and it was a dream come true to observe them in their natural habitat. The expert guidance provided by the Follow Alice team ensured that these encounters were not only breathtaking but also educational.

Our tour guide, Chiwa, deserves special mention. Chiwa's knowledge, passion, and dedication were exceptional. He made our journey even more enriching by sharing insights about Uganda's wildlife and culture. Chiwa's friendly and accommodating nature added a personal touch to our experience, making us feel like we were traveling with a close friend.

My trip with Follow Alice was once in a lifetime, and all because of the helpful trip manager and staff/porters.

We visited Tanzania in August 2023. My partner and I climbed Kilimanjaro (7 day trip) with Follow Alice and also went on a 4 day safari. Our hike up Kilimanjaro was so excellently organised with the staff being really professional and supportive, I can imagine making it to the submit without the support of the guides. The equipment and support was excellent. I was also drawn to Follow Alice as they are a member of the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project (KPAP) as it was really important that the porters we climbed with were treating well and all had really positive things to say about Follow Alice.

The safari was one of the best experience and completely surpassed our expectations. We had a private trip (just my partner and our safari guide) saw all the big 5 and our accommodation was completely breath-taking! Our guide was so knowledgeable and taught us all about the animals we saw and life in Tanzania.

We have just finalised our trek in the Nar-Phu valley of Nepal (group of 2) and we could not have wished for a better experience. The support we received from the Follow Alice team was unassailable. Chiefly, our trekking companions, composed of our guide Mr. Lhakpa Sherpa and porter Mr. Sange Sherpa, was what made the trek so enjoyable and rewarding. We needed to make some adjustments to the itinerary along the way; and our needs were immediately fulfilled. They made us feel comfortable and safe for the duration of the trek. It would not have been the same without them.
As for the booking process (led my Michael), it was smooth sailing since day one. We requested a custom trip (itinerary, number of days, etc.,) and everything was arranged in a simple and swift manner. The communication was always extremely easy.
The Nar-Phu valley: it is difficult to describe how wonderful and incredible it is. The mix of scenery, terrain and people is what makes it a truly special destination. For those who enjoy peace and quite, this route is perfect: mules and yaks are the only companions you will have.
We truly recommend Nar-Phu and Follow Alice - an unforgettable experience!

I recently had an amazing adventure with Follow Alice, I went on the breathtaking 4-day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. From the beginning, Follow Alice's team impressed me with their exceptional organisation and attention to detail. My journey began in Cusco, where I visited the famous Rainbow Mountain before commencing on my four-day trek to Machu Picchu. My guide, Mario, was not only experienced but also incredibly knowledgeable about the trail and its historical significance. His guidance added so much depth to the experience and made the trip so much more enjoyable.

I’ve been to the top of Kilimanjaro with Follow Alice in the end of Sep 2023. I cannot express enough gratitude to the team who helped me make it to the top! Lead guide Tony was always energetic, cheering us up. At the same time checking up on us all the time. Guide assistant Mohamed and summit porter Kasti were literally holding my hand until I got to Uhuru peak.( I was ok physically , but was so mentally drained that wanted to go home). If they were not there I would probably returned to the base camp!
Beside summit, every day with the group and guides was full of fun and interesting discussion(and hike ofc). Guide Frencis was very knowledgeable about flora on the mountain and I felt like I am in Botanical garden with a tour 😂.
What I mean with above is that the crew is amazing! The hike is not easy, but the crew make it as comfortable as possible.
Beside that I liked that Follow Alice is a part of KPAP and treats porters with respect.
In terms of preparation for the hike, all videos&guidelines are so well organised, I felt like I really don’t need to Google anything else.

The FollowAlice team did everything possible to get me and my son to the summit. My son was low maintenance and crucial to my success. I was not feeling well when I landed in Tanzania and did not improve. I was tired, dehydrated, had breathing issues etc and was ready to quit by the third day. The FollowAlice team helped me with my backpack, steadying me over tough terrain and generally giving me extra care and a push. They did that level of care for two others in the party (out of 10 climbers) Eight of 10 made it to the summit. The guides were heroic. I also can not say enough positive about the porters. They glided effortlessly up and down the mountain with heavy loads and were always in place with equipment before we arrived at the next campsite.

Follow Alice made my trip to Tanzania unbelievable. Their organization, accommodations and guides were amazing. This organization is both responsible and youthful and bring a lot of energy and helpful information - making what could be a daunting challenge into a fun endeavor. I couldn’t recommend Tanzania with Follow Alice More!
