The ticket sales desk at OR Tambo. We waited over an hour just to buy tickets. Today I'm experiencing the bad side of safari. I even canceled my travel altogether

Over 5hr delay
Flight was over 5hrs delayed due to technical issues. Told by staff the aircraft is not safe to fly and that another aircraft needed to be arranged. When they couldn’t find another aircraft, they tried to fix the plane. Was told we’d leave at 1:00 (3hrs later than scheduled). Then told there was another delay because they used the wrong bolts to fix the plane. Over 1hr went by with no update. Extremely poor communication throughout. Forced to fly on a plane that was explicitly said to be unsafe by staff. Worst travel experience I’ve had in 20 years.
Would use again
Can’t fault the experience we had. Flights on time and comfortable, service was good too.
At the check in desk the ladies were a little bit unprofessional but they sorted us out in the end.
Heather from Flysafair was excellent
11 Oct at 530pm on Sunday. Heather at Cape Town Flysafair Ticket Sales office, assisted to get me on my flight with excellent customer service. Well done . Regards Siraaj Adams
Pathetic and disgusting
What a sad, worhtless excuse for an airline. Enjoy sitting on a seat hard as cement. Enjoy having your ticket checked 4-6 times. Enjoy being begged to clean and organise your seat for their next departure lol. Enjoy being asked to put your hand luggage underneath seat in front of you so your legs cant move at all in one of the narrowst and shallowest foor areas worldwide. Vile. Disgusting. Pathetic.
Great experience n on time
I recently took the flights to Vic falls and cape town from OR tambo. I found the alerts by the airline reminding us of boarding useful. The flight was generally comfortable and seems organized and on time. I also enjoy the orderly fashion the staff organized our exit from the planes by rolls which I appreciate. Will fly again
They prey on customers on a budget…
Just don’t try to get any assistance from their service desk if you have a problem. You will get none. It’s that simple.

Flew between Durban and Cape Town…
Flew between Durban and Cape Town yesterday with my family and had a fantastic experience with the flight crew doing outstanding work. Flight attendant Vuriskha was especially helpful with excellent attention to detail and ensured that we and the travellers around us were comfortable.
Well done!
I had a great, no frills experience for aflight between Johannesburg and Durban straight after a long Qantas flight from Sydney to Joburg. Easy check in, good onboarding and offloading, polite and efficient staff. Thank you!
We experienced absolutely terrifying…
We experienced absolutely terrifying turbulence on our FlySafair flight (FA690) yesterday. Yes, the seatbelt sign was on and we were told to fasten our seatbelts, but this is something passengers hear regularly. We had absolutely no idea what was coming.
Within moments there was complete chaos. People were screaming, praying, crying and grabbing onto each other. Drinks and bottles were flying through the cabin, the crew trolley went racing down the aisle and passengers were injured. I hit my head and elbow hard, and we were soaked by drinks flying everywhere. Even the cabin crew were clearly caught off guard.
What I find completely unacceptable is how it was handled afterwards.
The only acknowledgement we got from the pilot was: “Apologies for the turbulence.”
That was it.
After passengers had screamed, cried, prayed and been injured, surely we deserved more than one sentence? No proper explanation. No reassurance. No acknowledgement of just how frightening and traumatic the experience had been.
Nobody even offered us water afterwards.
I understand that turbulence happens and that a pilot cannot control it. But communication and compassion ARE within the airline’s control.
We eventually walked off that aircraft feeling as though nobody had really seen what we had just been through. That, more than anything, has stayed with me.
The turbulence was terrifying. The way we were treated afterwards made it worse.
Extremely disappointing, FlySafair.

Our Flight was delayed by 3 hours From Mauritius to JHB. FA851
We have two small babies with us and sitting on the airport for 3hours extra was horrible. Flysafair should be better and arrange plans if delayed for so long.
I am extremely disappointed and upset…
I am extremely disappointed and upset with FlySafair after what happened with my trip to Zanzibar.
I had purchased my tickets well in advance and was genuinely looking forward to this trip. However, when it came time to fly, I was refused boarding because my passport expires in December and I was told that I needed at least six months’ validity on my passport.
What makes this situation even more frustrating is that I was never made aware of this requirement when booking my ticket. I was required to enter my passport details, including the passport expiry date, during the booking process and again when checking in. If the airline had this information, why was I not warned at any stage that my passport would not meet the entry requirements for Zanzibar?
Instead, I arrived expecting to travel, only to be told that I could not fly. I was then told that my only option was to purchase a ticket with Air Tanzania.
This was incredibly heartbreaking and stressful. I had planned and paid for this trip well in advance, and the fact that I was allowed to proceed through the booking and check-in process without any clear warning about such an important requirement is extremely disappointing.
I completely understand that airlines have to comply with immigration and entry requirements. What I do not understand is why FlySafair did not clearly flag this issue when I provided my passport information. A simple warning during booking or check-in could have given me the opportunity to renew my passport before travelling and avoid this entire situation.
Customers should not have to find out about a critical travel requirement only when they are standing at the airport, after already paying for their flights and making travel plans.
FlySafair needs to seriously review how passport and visa requirements are communicated to passengers. This experience has left me extremely disappointed, and what was supposed to be an exciting trip became a heartbreaking and stressful experience instead.
To make matters even worse, when I asked for a refund, I was told that they could not refund me because it was too close to the scheduled flying time. Instead, I was offered a voucher. After the way this situation was handled, I honestly do not feel comfortable or safe flying with FlySafair anymore, so being offered a voucher for a future flight does not feel like a satisfactory resolution to me.
I paid for a flight that I was not allowed to take because of a requirement that I was never properly alerted to, despite providing my passport details and expiry date during the booking and check-in process. I do not believe that simply offering me a voucher addresses the distress, disappointment, and financial loss this situation has caused.
Mostly I have a pleasant experience…
Mostly I have a pleasant experience flying with Safair. Today the rudeness of the staff at their help desk in Cape Town was NOT helpful. There was no assistance with arranging or helping to arrange a courier company to send a toy that was not allowed on the plane to be couriered to ouer destination. If a passenger needs assistance and the staff is unhelpful and have a superior attitude it ruins a beautiful memory of a well deserved breakaway. I do think Safair must do training on humanity and assistance...going that extra mile was just not there.

FlySafair needs to address this
FlySafair needs to address this! 🚨
This is extremely concerning. A passenger has once again shared evidence of her luggage being tampered with after travelling with FlySafair. In the picture, the suitcase appears to have been opened despite being secured with a lock.
What makes this even more disturbing is that this is not the first time she has experienced a problem with her luggage. How many passengers have to go through the same thing before proper action is taken?
Passengers put their belongings in the airline's care expecting them to arrive safely and securely. When luggage is opened or tampered with, it raises serious questions about baggage handling and security.
FlySafair, passengers deserve answers. Investigate these incidents, take responsibility, and put stronger measures in place to protect people's belongings. We should not have to travel wondering whether our luggage will arrive untouched. 😢💔

FlySafair rude Priority check-in agent
FlySafair rude Priority check-in agent
**Shocking check\-in service at Priority booking**
Rude Ms Mmashao from Fly Safair at booking in this morning @ 6h50.
Extremely disappointing experience \. After standing in a long priority check\-in queue for around 20 minutes, my daughter was met by an exceptionally rude and abrupt check\-in agent\. There was no card machine available to pay for baggage, so we were sent to yet another queue to make payment\. Another passenger proceeded to assist my daughter by saying she could pay online. This upset the agent who told us to step aside so she could help another passenger while Simone did the quick online payment.
The agent was unnecessarily confrontational, accused my daughter of “throwing” her suitcase onto the conveyor when she did no such thing, and then called a supervisor rather than simply dealing with the situation professionally\. When supervisor arrived Ms Mmashao proceeded to accuse my daughter in Zulu of throwing her case around. Fortunately I understood and corrected the agent as to what had really ensued. The supervisor ‘allowed’ us to book in my daughters case!!
Long queues, inadequate payment facilities and, worst of all, shockingly rude customer service\. Passengers deserve to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. Clearly Fly Safair needs more local competition. Their arrogance is astounding.
Hidden Fees
Very disappointed in the fact that Fly SA Fair sneakily adds extra services one didn't ask for changing your fare to become significantly higher than you chose. They don't ask if you want to add additional services, they add them for you then expect you to remove them if you are not interested, if you miss the prompt to remove it's on you. It is very unethical and shows lack of good faith. We choose Fly SA Fair because we want to pay less not because we want to pay more disguised as extra services. ☹️
Wasted money paying for business class
Travelled "business class" on flight FA-691, in April 2026 from JNB -CPT.
My brand new suitcase, which had never been used before, arrived in CPT in unacceptable condition.
The damage to the case is far beyond what might be considered reasonable - it looks as if it has been dragged along gravel.
There are signs not only that the case was dragged, but also thrown/dropped. When I opened the case I found that my portable monitor screen was cracked. Ive travelled with this screen in check-in luggage, both domestic and international, over a 2 year period and its never been an issue.
I have submitted a complaint, explaining all these details along with proofs of purchase and photos and all Ive recieved in response is a generic email referring me to lost property.
I would like an explanation as to how this occurred and why Safair feels that it is acceptable to treat any customers belongings in this manner.
This is completely unacceptable, especially after having paid for business class which apparently includes priority luggage handling.
