dodged a bullet
dodged a bullet- drove over an hour to look at an suv that online looked super clean and in good shape; I ask the guy over the phone "hey I'm driving over an hour, before I do that is there anything wrong with this car I should be aware of" he tells me no its super clean, great condition. I get there, the finish is peeling on the wheels, it has an obvious and apparent leak at the water pump, test drive it shocks are completed blown, the seats are worn, its absolutely not the same car as pictured or they just picked angles where you couldnt see how bad it was. Basically the car is junk, but since I drove that far I decide to look what else they have on the lot, I look at another SUV this one is actually very clean, not too bad on miles for the year seems good. test drive goes well, get back and I notice a burnt oil smell. I pop the hood and find an oil leak coming from the valve cover. So I speak to the manager and tell him we have a deal if you fix the leak im not buying a car that i have to do something to fix tomorrow. He says he will have the shop take a look, cool. Well then he calls me to tell me the shop didnt find the leak, the leak i saw with my own eyes that was dripping onto the exhaust manifold. So i told him fine no deal i'll walk away from it. he says he will have them look again and follow up with me, then a week later the sales person(not the manager) calls to ask if i still want the car, I restate that not without fixing the leak no. they AGAIN try convincing me the car is fine and tell me to "buy it before its gone". Then proceeds to send me a picture of some water on the ground and tries telling me "it was just some water from rain". absolutely crazy. just shady, pushy tactics and clearly either a shop that's incompetent or in on the racket. avoid this place at all cost.
