Good platform. BE AWERE of mandatory updated terms create lock-in and ownership concerns
I’ve used First Connect since 2023 and overall the company has been solid: the platform is useful, the process has worked, and I’ve had a generally positive experience.
However, the new mandatory updated terms RAISED MAJOR CONCERNS for me as an agency owner. The issue is not “protecting the business" it’s the risk of lock-in.
The terms appear to introduce language that treats certain policy/production data and book information as shared property, and acceptance is effectively required to keep access to the platform. If you’re already operating inside the system, that creates a SERIOUS PRATICAL PROBLEM: YOUR workflow, YOUR access, and YOUR data are tied to the platform, so refusing the new terms can disrupt operations.
To be clear: I’m not saying the company is bad. I’m saying this is a material change that reduces trust because it shifts leverage after agencies are already onboarded.

The “jointly owned data” language is intended to support reporting and sharing production data with carrier partners, not to limit agency independence. They provide solid customer service, but the carrier options for new agents and agencies are limited. The carriers available tend to produce higher quotes, which can make it challenging to stay competitive.

First Connect is an Absolute Must
First Connect is an absolute must for any agency going independent. They’ve got a great mix of carriers (many of them big names), and the payouts are better than other MGAs. Additionally, the service provided is excellent. I rarely wait longer than a few minutes to have my request acknowledged—and any issues are quickly resolved. Give them a try.
