Hi , I recently purchased 250ml black fabric dye and was disappointed with the results. The colour did not come out well atall, it showed up uneven and far lighter than advertised with minimal coverage and ruined the fabric making it hard and crusty, despite following the instructions carefully

The reviews on Amazon are quite misleading imho!

Dissappointing, bought a small bottle and tried it out, turned the fabric dry and crunchy. Wouldn't recommend. I think it's over priced too!

We used Fabricoat on our sofa as we wanted a new colour sofa and the old fabric was looking a bit tired, we still loved the design so liked the idea of fabricoat-ing it!!

It is a pretty standard 2 seat sofa, the fabric was cotton based and there was a very small herringbone weave to it, nothing out of the ordinary to be honest and certainly not a deep pile of any sort.

We applied as instructed using the fabricoat brush and used the stiff brush (also purchased from fabricoat) repeatedly whilst the paint was drying. 2.5 litres was sufficient for 1 coat, it’s easy to apply but found it went on quite patchy with a brush. We ordered another 2.5 litres to finish the job and this time purchased a paint sprayer which made a much better job of it……I’d highly recommend spraying the paint rather than brushing.

Despite repeatedly brushing the fabric whilst painting and as it was drying with the stiff bristled brush the sofa fabric has stiffened quite significantly and has a bit of a plasticky feel to it. I found you can brush streaks into the fabric and it can start to pull the fibres up if you brush too much when it’s wet. I’ll be brushing it a lot now it’s dry and hopefully over time it will soften……

The dark green colour is stunning and it does look good in general, up close you can spot a few uneven patches but I doubt anyone will notice. It is a shame about how the fabric feels (I can’t see how it wouldn’t feel stiffer to be honest, you are painting a fabric after all!!!) but overall we are generally pleased with how it turned out……as I say, it’s cheaper than a new sofa and it’s much better than chucking a throw on it!

This is an amazing product, I had a grey velour king size bed and just used the dark blue on it; easy to apply, 2 coats and I’m so impressed, would definitely recommend

Bloody useless painted a chair which turned so hard even though followed all instruction - was so hard that a throw adhered to it - would never use agin

I would not recommend this product. Did everything as per instructions and the texture is awful. Three coats and it's streaky. Expensive chairs now ruined. Don't bother.

Thought I’d give an old chair with calico seat a go with fabricoat , really easy to use and a great finish BUT it did require 3 coats which I thought on a plain cotton fabric suprising .

Wat een super product!!!! Het is wel wat werk maar zo de moeite waard. Ik heb mijn meter lange bank met chase longue geschilderd en hij ziet er weer als nieuw uit! Absolute aanrader.
Het was ook snel geleverd. Je moet alleen even rekening houden met invoerrechten betalen.
Maar briljant product!!!

Very misleading website. Says 2.5ltr for a 3 seat couch. I'm doing a large cuddle chair so say a 2 seater. I'm currently on 3.5ltrs in and I think it would need around another 2.5-3ltr to make it look passable. The texture after is horrendous and crunchy. I followed the websites instructions and reached out to the company a week ago about my concerns and haven't had anything back from them as of yet. Contemplating just jacking it in and buying new. To add, I haven't done the whole chair either, the back that cannot be seen and the other side of cushion is undone. Very disappointing, the chair itself was lovely, comfy and soft before. I'd avoid and will not recommend

The delivery was very fast unfortunately this has cost me 3x500ml bottles and a £500 footstool the reviews gives the impression nothing can go wrong !! Item has a low pile so did everything advised don’t overload dampen the stool was a light colour to be dyed black, took 3 full bottles let each coat dry and the footstool is stiff as a board did
Not overload I need to add this is not suitable for every fabric clearly, reached out to customer service and got a very generic reply telling me how to do it when I had said its already done and the issue I have. So if you are thinking of doing this you need a LOT more than advised and understand you could ruin the item you want to dye truly wish I had never used the stuff.

I purchased two 500ml bottles of dye to do a standard, low-pile, three seater sofa without cushions. The website clearly stated this amount should cover the sofa. I followed their instructions and was only able to cover one side, and the front. I wrote to them and they said

Thank you for reaching out.
We usually say 2.5L will cover a three-seater sofa. 1L is recommended for one chair.
Do you have a 10% discount code you can use on your next purchase?”

I replied with a screen shot of their web page that clearly states 1ltr should be enough to cover the whole sofa.

“Hi,

You need to change the information on your website as it clearly states 1 litre will cover a three seater sofa! A project that I thought would cost under £50 has now cost me nearly twice that much. Very misleading. “

As I have now had to spend an extra £60 (minus the 10%) to finish a sofa worth about £100 and am unable to leave a review on their website I am leaving my review here.
