they sell items they dont have, loads of excuses and no refund forthcoming, dispute opened with paypal about them.
2 months waiting
Ordered smoke alarms in Jan. Told they would arrive in Feb. They never showed up and was told that they would be shipped in the first week of March. Now the end of March and they are not able to tell me when my order will be here.

Ordered smoke and heat alarms. Didn't hear anything and chased. Standard replies about shipment not received and advised 1st week in March. Chased again. Sent the same generic email reply. They still advertise and don't advise customers of their inability to meet orders. Taking money knowing this is the case and not disclosing this is not likely to be in line with Consumer legislation. Still awaiting my refund. I would not deal with this company again. Taking money knowing they can't fulfill an order and not telling you is completely unacceptable. Definately avoid them.

I ordered alarms and was told 14 days for delivery. I was then contacted and told March but I could cancel and money would be refunded within 48 hours. I did cancel and have yet to receive anything! They don't answer emails, they don't answer their sales phone. I called their head office and was told a director would be in touch. Nothing! This is an un-trustworthy company who have taken nearly £200 off me and effectively stolen it. DO NOT TRUST!
Awaiting for over 4 weeks for my order
Awaiting for over 4 weeks for my order. Contacted the company who assured they have stock and was just talking longer than expected to deliver all orders. 2 days later received an email saying that they don't have stock (However still advertising as in stock in their website). Since, only automatic replies.

I ordered alarms and after I texted them was told 14 days, after 14 days was told March but I could cancel and money would be refunded within 48 hours. I did cancel and money WAS returned within 48 hours . So considering the demand for them I rate their service. Well done
Unable to deliver within timescales at point of order
Where I understand there is huge demand for the fire alarms, you can’t say ‘please allow up to 14 days for delivery’, not deliver within then, and then lie to you when you ask for an update.
One email I received stated that deliveries were coming in daily, and my order could arrive within the next few days, then the next email said there was supplier delays and it would be March. Who knows what the email in March would say if I didn’t receive my items by then, April, May? And who knows what their order backlog would be by then?
Granted the new Scottish legislation is nonsense IMO, and companies are profiteering off the back of it. Express Electrical have not, so well done for that.
My rating would be 1* based on their inability to fulfil my order in the timescale provided and lack of communication had I not contacted them, but as Express Electrical have chosen not to increase their prices to further profit from this, I’ve chosen 2*.
I placed this order on behalf of my elderly mother, who is worried she is breaking the law and her home insurance will be invalid etc. I’ve now placed another order with the company I bought my alarms from and have received confirmation 1 day after order, they have been dispatched. Only £5 more expensive than Express Electrical but is the same I paid for mine back in November.
Delayed delivery, but excellent communication and performance under challenging circumstances.
I recently placed two separate orders for Scottish specification smoke and heat alarms on behalf of two different family members.
The hard fact is that this type of alarm has been almost impossible to source anywhere for a few months now, ever since it became clear that the Scottish Government was actually going to implement the legislation this year, instead of postponing it for 12 months, as happened at the end of 2020. Given the fiasco that occurred back then, I really can't blame the alarm manufacturers or suppliers for not stocking up on these, as they could well have been left with too much stock had the government done another U-turn. It's been abjectly handled by the Scottish Government from start to finish.
So, having originally placed a back-order with a different supplier last October, they ended up not being able to supply anything at all and Express were the only company with anything reputable in stock. I placed the first order on 11th January, not really expecting next day delivery but decided to contact them by Email three days later. A real person replied within 3 minutes with an apology and a perfectly plausible explanation that they were inundated with orders. The order arrived when they said it would, five days later.
That gave me confidence to place another order for a different family member. Although it was placed only three days after the first one, it took a total of 27 days to arrive. As before, when I Emailed across an update request, I got an automatic response immediately and a personal one five minutes later. So, I cannot fault the company's response to my enquiries at all. When this order did arrive, it came with a flyer containing an apology for the delay and a 10% discount code for a future purchase.
I was pleased to see that in the meantime, unlike pretty much all other online alarm suppliers, Express haven't doubled their prices for their Hi-Spec alarms. In fact, the price per alarm is now only £1 more that I paid for them; perfectly acceptable given the increased staff numbers required to dispatch back orders. Furthermore, they've kept their website updated with expected delivery timescales, which now stretches in to mid-March at the time of writing.
I have no affiliation with Express Electrical at all and in fact, this is the first occasion I've bought from them. I gather that several people feel they've been let down by the company but in my view, issues like this were to be expected under the circumstances. Given that only around 57% of Scottish households have fitted their alarms by 1st February, I expect that demand will be high for quite some time.
So, I've rated Express Electrical as 5 stars based on their communication, candidness and the fact that they've chosen not to profiteer under the circumstances.

Bought them and unfortunately I didn't even think about looking here first as I'm now 3 weeks in waiting for a very simple order to be be sent out.
I've emailed them and got a very badly writing auto responce.
Thank god I bought it via PayPal as I've gone down the route of getting a refund.

Don't bother. Although they are called "Express" Electrical, there is no Express about them. Nearly 2 weeks and still no delivery! Its 2022, sort it out!
Very poor service and communication…
Very poor service and communication from this company. Impossible to reach them on the phone, emails very slow and generic response. Ordered a quantity of smoke & heat alarms and realising they like others would be busy I was happy to wait, they did not arrive when initially estimated. I tried and tried to reach them to try and get an update on delivery when out of the blue they cancelled my order and refunded my credit card payment. Wow! What a great great service. Got sorted from another professional company.
Rogue traders
Rogue traders. This company is by far the worse bunch of crooks I have had the misfortune of dealing with. Disorganised, incompetent, dishonest and clueless is putting it mildly for this shambles of a company. They can not get a simple order correct, can not organise the return of goods correctly and to date am still waiting for a refund for good that have been returned months ago. I would strongly advise any body to avoid this company.
