Impossible de démarrer un sujet sur le forum à chaque fois ils bloque mon compte, se site est une grosse blague.

This website could be awesome, however for one particular part (Puerto Rico) it become overrun by local people not the actual expats, and in my personal experience, (not just mine btw), those assess control, de facto preventing objectivity based on expats experiences. Only people who sing the song how everything is wonderful - are allowed, others face challenges, or are excluded if they openly describe their personal experience with state of affairs. Those "problematic" people (if they aren't kicked out, they are being told their simple add : "selling this or that..." is being denied after "review" as 'not complying with rules' (of course not explained what specifically was wrong 😂). One can't help, but believe is prevented as revenge from even simple add - when trying to sell their things.. 🤷🏻‍♀️
(I mean the add wouldn't change outcome - cuz as I said - place is kinda haunted dead cuz what I described above).. just a cherry on the cake - unmasking the locals true face and culture and mentality.

As this locals running the page - defy the purpose of this webpage, this website is doomed.

After so many months and i still cannot unsubscribe from the mail list. The normal unsubscribe method its not working, I sent a message to helpdesk and they did nothing. I can't stop them from sending me emails.

I was not happy when a member asked me a phone number, I sent him but the team deleted it. But when Rajabo japhar asked me a phone number, I sent him and he sent me they was not a problem why??? I'm still curious!!!

Expat.Philippines (add com after expat ) has very heavy handed moderators. Not a good place to openly discuss things that the moderators don't like. Many other expat forums are available.

It's a plateform where I got to meet poeple who share the same passion for traveling and which became great friends.

It is a very useful website when you're an expat. First, it is easy to use, there is a wide veriety of entries, and the interface is pleasant. Second, you can get interesting information.
There are very nice and clever people there, willing to help, and you can get pretty accurate information sometimes. I remember : how to install the rain water circuitry between pump, tank and house in a village ! But you get information too about the laws, the economical situation, or the way to deal with locals, etc.
It is a great help, not the only one, but essential.
My tip : you must carefully choose the way you express your question. Of course, sometimes there will be people who does not have anything to do who will answer. But if you are smart enough, you'll avoid them and get the best out of it.

No much community, poor information

Have read the posts here and have come up with the old adage; "You can please some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time but you cannot please all of the people all of the time".
This makes the forum interesting as one gets differing points of view from a myriad of members.
In my time on the forum (member from 2009) I have found it to have progressed in a positive manner.

I've been a user for years on the USA part, in French. I like it. I met nice people there. As in every forum, like in real life, there are people you don't share opinions with, however, the overhaul experience is very good.

Je connais ce site depuis 7 ans. Il m'a été très utile pour trouver des infos et échanger avec les membres avant mon expatriation. Depuis, je l'utilise toujours pour communiquer avec d'autres membres.

The moderation of expat.com is not able to make the difference between "true/real" informations and fake news...

I joined this site in 2017 in preparation for a move to Brazil, and have continued with it ever since, because it's the most useful site of its kind I've found for real, experience-based information. I've made good friends on the site, both in cyberspace and realspace, and am happy to have the opportunity to "give back" by helping newcomers with my own experience.

Expat.com is sociable, but I wouldn't call it "social media" in the usual sense. It's not a place for people who want to let their Ids go out to play, and to be at their worst behind a mask of anonymity. Such people can and do find the site frustrating, because the moderation respectfully but firmly keeps the threads on topic, and is diligent in removing the vituperative, the abusive, and the argumentative, and spam. There are plenty of other places (too many!) for that already. This is a site where people with knowledge help people who want to know, and at that it excels.

I have been with ex-pat for many years and used their information many times. I stayed with them because they were the only site that responded quickly, were kind, and as helpful as possible.

They also didn't tolerate any of the things this site doesn't tolerate. Every site will have problems with trolls, people who are abusive or those wanting to attack others. There are also those who want to use sites for their personal reasons like picking women up or insulting specific nationalities. Expat doesn't tolerate that.

"No violent, coarse or otherwise inappropriate language
No accusations that can’t be proven" This site needs to remember their own admonitions when reviewing negative posts.

Being an Expat for a number of years, Expat.com beats all the simular sites it's more professional looking and easy to navigate around. Its helped with more than once with my questions that I could not find information on the internet. I have noticed that if you are not happy with something, you can report the post or even send a message to the team. They come back with a response in a matter of hours.

etant animateur Allemagne en français ,bénévol, pas payés , depuis 29ans dans le pays marié á une allemande, 2enfants . je connais le pays , sa mentalitée , je suis comme un local , pas comme un expatriers avec un gros salaires ,je parle la langue , mais pas anglais, La liberté d'expréssion est libre ,si on respecte la politesse , dans la vie on rencontre de tout des gens bien comme des gens pas biens , sur le forum aussi, C'est comme dans la vie .. mo i 'ai un principe quand on arrive comme expats ,on regarde, on questionnent, on essaye de comprendre le pays,mais on juge pas . Chaque pays as des cotés possitif et négatif , Pour ma part J'essaye de rester ojectif ,même si celas ne plais pas á la personne á qui je répond , beaucoup de gens voudrais que l'on leur répondent dans leurs sens . jean luc 1

As many that have experienced this site, I found it extremely valuable. I was exploring options for re locating, or... becoming an Ex Pat.
I was able to join a group of like minded fellow travelers, but more importantly, with persons all ready with boots on the ground experience.
As with all things " internet", one must sift through the opinions and " facts" that are posted.
In the end, I made many personal friends in the country I choose. I am back in The US, but I still visit friends in Cuenca EC., and here back in the states.
Expat.com was a very valuable tool to myself and many others.
I found it to be well and fairly moderated.

Bonjour. Présent des années sur le Maroc ou je vivais, mes interventions objectives ne plaisaient pas aux responsables du site mais elles étaient trés utiles aux lecteurs. L'on m'avait même proposé à un moment de gérer le secteur sur les pages du Maroc. Malheureusement ils mettent des gens inobjectifs comme animateurs ou modérateurs des pages ce qui a fait exploser la qualité et positionner l'égo au détriment de l'objectif. Au final aprés échange avec le créateur de ce site tout aussi inobjectif qui préférent les bons avis sur des sujets au détriment de la vérité je fut "Bannis".... encore à ce jour même si je reçois aprés des années mon avis par Internet... Paradoxe de ce site. Cordialement.

Expat.com est le site le plus efficace et le plus utile pour répondre à vos questions sur n'importe quel pays au monde et de n'importe oú, que vous soyez au fin fond de l'Afrique ou au pôle Nord, vous aurez les réponses à vos questions.
En plus sur le forum, vous vous ferez des amis d'un peu partout au monde.
Grâce à Expat.com je me suis fait des amis Francophones et Anglophones de plusieurs pays.

Its poor.
It used to be better but facebook and other social media has taken over .
Needs to be shaken up to become useful again . Most of the posts are years old and there is a core group of about three participants in my country that just dominate most of the discussions.
I just keep membership out of habit but I will not post a question on there anymore because someone was really abusive towards me and the moderators did not remove all of his nasty comments .
Their intervention was pathetic
