What a complete disaster
What a complete disaster. I ordered a bed cover for my truck. One part came. One was missing. This was weeks ago. Every attempt to get a status resulted in a meaningless email exchange with apologies and nothing concrete. Still have no idea if and when I am going to get it, and I am heading out of town for a month. This company is a complete joke.
Support answer was helpful, just too late...
I liked that I was given the actual factory specs on the wire as well as justification for why that spec was chosen - a very thorough answer. I liked that the expert offered to engage with a follow up question. What I didn't like was probably no fault of e-trailer...when I googled my question about wire size I learned that 4-way harnesses come in 14 or 16 gauge wire and 14 is the better choice. I only found one supplier that had 14 gauge and e-Trailer doesn't offer that choice. I also did not like that Curt doesn't just list wire size in there online specifications. I was frustrated that it took 5 days to get an answer. I needed to make a quick decision so I ordered the harness from another source before I received the experts answer.

Worst "Overnight Shipping" Experience…
Worst "Overnight Shipping" Experience I've Had in 72 Years — Cost Me $150 + 4 Campground Days
I ordered a trailer hitch part from etrailer while traveling from Arkansas to Montana. I was parked at a campground between Council Bluffs and Sioux City and needed the part to continue my trip.
Amazon had the exact part for less than half the price with free shipping, but delivery was Thursday. etrailer showed it "in stock," so I paid more than double the Amazon price plus nearly $150 for overnight shipping because I could not afford to wait.
Here’s what actually happened:
1. First "overnight" lie: On Tuesday morning I checked my order. It had only shipped that morning and UPS now showed Thursday delivery. So much for overnight.
2. Second "overnight" lie: My rep, Neil W., assured me another part would be sent overnight. Wednesday morning I checked tracking: Thursday delivery again, "by 9:00 PM." UPS confirmed it was never shipped overnight and only etrailer could fix it.
3. Ghosted when it mattered: I tried Neil W. again — no response. Called customer service, left urgent messages. Nothing. Zero callbacks while I'm stranded paying for 4 extra campground nights.
The math: I paid 2x the part price + $150 "overnight" fees to get the same Thursday delivery date Amazon offered for free. Except now I’m also out 4 days of campground fees, fuel, and vacation time.
The most frustrating part: Not the delay. Stuff happens. It’s paying a premium for "urgent" service, watching them fail twice, and then getting complete radio silence when you ask for help. If you can’t do overnight, don’t sell it. If you screw up, answer the damn phone.
etrailer turned a 1-day problem into a week-long problem and charged me extra for the privilege.
Verdict: If you actually need a part quickly, go literally anywhere else. "Overnight" here means "maybe Thursday if you’re lucky and we feel like answering." One star is generous.

Can't trust their advice
I reached out to them about a hitch that would fit my sprinter van with the rear step. They were quick to respond to sell me a trailer hitch that didn't actually fit my sprinter van. After I installed it I sent pictures of the hitch touching and blocking the exhaust system which didn't seem to surprise them at all, Their response was that I need to modify the exhaust system for the hitch to fit. I would not have bought the hitch if I had known I would have to spend more money to modify my exhaust system than the hitch cost. Knowing they knew I would have to do this before selling me the hitch "that fit" feels pretty dishonest.

I put my order in. My checking account reflected the $531.91 payment pending. Two days later the pending amount dropped from my account. I went to the website and it said that one of the items I had ordered was not in stock. So I adjusted my order with an item in stock. I was instructed to confirm this through my email. I did. I then received an email saying it had been confirmed. I came back to my email later to find another one saying it hadn't been confirmed. Then e-trailer sent me a message asking if I still wanted it. I said yes. He adjusted my order and said okay. The next day I received a message saying my payment needed to be reverified. I tried to re-verify it and it would not let me. The next day I received a duplicate message from another person saying that my payment needed to be verified. I went to the website and found that my entire order had been canceled. The cart had been emptied. I tried to reestablish my payment information and reorder, the website would not let me. I called the 800 number and I cannot speak to anyone (I now do not have a pending order). I tried to email and my email was sent back.

Total piece of junk—you have to buy even more devices just to use the one you have, because it doesn't work on its own. What a rip-off, what a shitty scam.
Charged for return shipping
was wrong size. I called and emailed the merchant before they shipped the product to cancel the order because the product was the wrong size. They shipped the product anyway. The item was returned without opening the package. UPS driver took it back. Merchant billed me for return shipping charges for returning even though shipping the product to me was free in the first place. The merchant billed me shipping charges on the return shipping even though they did not incurred return shipping charges from UPS. Merchant gets a discount from UPS as a business partner for out going shipping and merchant charged me shipping full rate as if I was an independent UPS customer. Merchant needs to prove they were billed by UPS for the return shipping.

Ordered a bearing and it shipped way…
Ordered a bearing and it shipped way late and now it shows on the usps website that its just roaming around upstate ny. Traveling from post office to post office. Even though it has been at our post office 2 times then sent elsewhere. I gonna guess they put the wrong adress on it. Cant get a call back from anyone. Please dont order from this company. Thank god we only spent 15. If it was more i would of been to the bank to file a claim already.
Bad return policy
Bought some mirror extensions, paid expedited shipping and their system said it would arrive the date I needed them. They arrived 2 days late. Due to arriving 2 days late I had to go out and buy some. Now I am returning these but am forced to pay the $30 for return shipping even though none of this is my fault. So I am now out $30 and have nothing to show for it even though I did nothing wrong.
Edit - was able to speak to a manager who did get me refunded...
Do not trust etrailer shipping…
Do not trust etrailer shipping schedule. Took several business days to actually ship items. Nothing but“holiday” excuse even though I ordered days after holiday. Far beyond scheduled delivery day before it actually ships. Only received platitude apologies. $3000+ order didn’t matter. Do not trust to them to ship timely and responsibly.
