I purchased a Mercedes-Benz GLS63 from **Dutton One** for approximately **$120,000**, together with the extended warranty they offered, believing it would provide peace of mind and protection should anything major go wrong.

Unfortunately, my experience has been the complete opposite.

When the vehicle developed serious engine problems, **Mercedes-Benz Canberra diagnosed the engine as requiring replacement**. Instead of the recommended engine replacement being carried out, the warranty claim was managed by Presidian (Davantage), who authorised an alternative repair strategy through another repairer.

Over the next **18 months**, my vehicle underwent **two major engine rebuilds**, spent months interstate, and was repeatedly unavailable to my family.

After the first major repair, the vehicle was returned with continuing mechanical issues, additional exterior damage that had never been disclosed to me, and significant rodent damage to the interior while it was in the repairer's possession.

The vehicle was then returned for a **second major engine rebuild**. Despite the engine being removed again, the cylinder head being machined and both head gaskets being replaced, the problems were still not resolved.

Following the second rebuild, Mercedes-Benz Canberra identified:

* Multiple coolant leaks.
* Multiple engine oil leaks.
* Active Curve System hydraulic faults.
* Approximately **$10,000 worth of additional repairs** immediately after the vehicle had supposedly been repaired.

Mercedes-Benz Canberra ultimately advised that the vehicle was **unsafe to drive**, leaving me with no option but to have it towed home. Our family was once again left without a vehicle.

I notified both Dutton One and the warranty administrator of these findings and advised that, after two major engine rebuilds, the vehicle had still been returned with significant mechanical defects and had been declared unsafe to drive.

Despite the seriousness of the situation, there was no meaningful ownership of the problem, no practical assistance, and no satisfactory resolution.

Dutton One sold me both the vehicle and the extended warranty. I purchased the warranty believing it would provide additional protection if something major went wrong. That peace of mind was one of the reasons I agreed to purchase it.

**My advice to anyone considering purchasing an extended warranty through Dutton One is to carefully consider whether it provides the level of protection you expect.** My experience was that, once a claim arose, the repair strategy, repair method and repairer were determined by the warranty administrator, not by me. Despite two major engine rebuilds over approximately 18 months, the vehicle ultimately ended up being declared **unsafe to drive** by Mercedes-Benz Canberra.

After approximately **18 months** of repeated diagnostics, interstate transport, two major engine rebuilds, lengthy periods without the use of our family vehicle and countless hours attempting to resolve this matter, we have been left with no option but to engage solicitors, formally reject the vehicle under the **Australian Consumer Law**, and pursue our legal rights.

In my experience, the extended warranty did **not provide the protection or peace of mind** that I believed I was purchasing, and Dutton One did not provide the level of support or ownership I expected from the seller of a premium vehicle.

A vehicle purchased for approximately **$120,000** has effectively become an undriveable vehicle sitting in our driveway while we pursue legal action to recover our losses.

**If you are considering purchasing an extended warranty through Dutton One, I strongly encourage you to read the terms carefully, understand exactly who will manage your claim if something goes wrong, and satisfy yourself that it provides the level of protection you expect before committing.**

Unfortunately, my experience has been the complete opposite of what I believed I was buying, and based on that experience, I cannot recommend either the extended warranty or the level of after-sales support I received from Dutton One.

Avoid Dutton One.

Avoid Dutton One.

I purchased a vehicle for $28,400 which was damaged during transport before I ever received it. The repair quote has come back at $15,206.50 — over half the value of the car — involving major work to the roof, sunroof, glass and multiple panels.

Despite this, Dutton One have refused to refund the purchase price and are insisting on repairing the vehicle instead.

To be clear — I have never accepted delivery of the car in this condition. This is not what I agreed to buy.

Transport was arranged by Dutton One, yet they are now attempting to shift responsibility elsewhere rather than resolving the issue properly.

I’ll be pursuing this further, but I wanted to make others aware of how this has been handled.

If anyone from Dutton One would like to step in and resolve this appropriately, I’m open to contact.

The most dodgy dealership in existence

The most dodgy dealership in existence. I tried to buy a car from them, their Western Australia operation, paid the holding deposit and went about getting finance. They wanted me to use their finance company, Finance One, even more dodgy than the dealerships. They then sold the car from underneath me with a deposit paid and a contract in place.

Way overpriced as compared to the same…

Way overpriced as compared to the same models being sold elsewhere.

The price on CarSales I found to be misleading as they tried to charge almost $3000 on top of the listed price for "dealer delivery" at the dealership.

Made a decent offer at the marketplace value, which was rejected.

Car still sits for sale a month later.

Disappointing Sales Experience

I had an extremely disappointing experience with the sales team at Dutton One Windsor Brisbane, led by their completely unprofessional manager. Their tactics were aggressive, misleading and downright deceitful.

From the start, they presented an inflated price for the vehicle and then attempted to pressure me into accepting it. Fortunately, I saw through their tactics and chose to walk away rather than be manipulated. Amazingly, as I was leaving, they suddenly dropped the price to exactly what I had originally offered—proving how artificial their pricing strategy was.

Then came the issue with my trade-in. They claimed damage that required an outrageous repair cost, restarting the whole negotiation process. When I threatened to cancel the deal unless they charged a fairer amount—half of what they originally quoted—they instantly backed down. Clearly, their pricing is as flexible as their integrity.

If you're in the market for a new vehicle, do yourself a favour and look elsewhere. The aggression, deception and high-pressure sales tactics here are not worth the hassle. If you do decide to engage with them, be prepared for a frustrating and disingenuous experience.

Beware of Dutton One Melbourne: A Nightmare Experience

I recently had the absolute misfortune of dealing with Dutton One Port Melbourne, and let me tell you, it has been nothing short of a nightmare. I purchased a used Peugeot 3008 and opted for express delivery from Melbourne, expecting a smooth transaction given the high-end reputation of this dealership. Instead, I was met with one of the most unprofessional and frustrating experiences I have ever encountered.

After I placed my order and paid in full, including for the express delivery, I was left in the dark for an entire three weeks. Not a single word from the salesman. No updates, no communication—nothing. I had to chase them up myself, which is unacceptable when you've spent a considerable amount of money on a vehicle.

When the car finally arrived, I was horrified to find that it was in far from the pristine condition that had been advertised. The listing mentioned no imperfections, yet there were multiple issues with the paint and body. To make matters worse, some of these flaws had been crudely covered up with what can only be described as a botched attempt to hide the damage. This was a blatant misrepresentation of the vehicle's condition.

Upon contacting the dealership to address these issues, I was met with further disappointment. Instead of taking responsibility, they blamed the damage on the transport company. They then tried to convince me to pay for the repairs out of my own pocket, with the promise of reimbursing me later. Needless to say, I declined. Why should I be out of pocket for their incompetence? Their excuse for not handling the repairs themselves was that it was "too hard" for them to organise, despite the fact that they have a dealership in Adelaide!

When I finally took the car to their recommended crash repairer, the owner there pointed out even more issues with the car—problems that I hadn't even noticed. He sent a detailed quote to Dutton One, but of course, this was completely ignored. No follow-up, no acknowledgment, nothing. I was left to deal with a damaged vehicle and a dealership that clearly couldn't care less.

In conclusion, I would strongly advise anyone considering doing business with Dutton One Port Melbourne to think twice. Their lack of communication, failure to deliver as promised, and unwillingness to take responsibility for their mistakes are beyond disappointing. Save yourself the headache and take your business elsewhere. This dealership does not deserve your money or your trust.
