I want to say a big thank you to Conor and his team for the treatment, when I rang initially I was desperate as I could hardly hear at all, thankfully they squeezed me in although they were very busy, it took 3 visits but now my ears are clear, what a relief. They are all very pleasant and professional, Conor explained everything clearly and did a fantastic job. Thanks again and any problems in future I will certainly be using Durham hearing specialists.

After being first diagnosed with hearing issues, I have for the last 15 or so years been a client of a very well known Hearing Aid Company with whom I have had no issues at all.
That said and call me vain if you wish, I have never liked the behind the ear aids because of the visible wires. I have no issues with folk knowing I have hearing issues, however, I do not like to ‘advertise’ it.
I found a pair of CIC with my original audiologist, but the price was out of my league, I asked about other brands but the company did not stock them.

On to the Internet I went and found Durham Hearing Specialists who certainly have an impressive range of Hearing aid brands including the CIC type I was after.
I made an appointment, two days, yes, two days later Myself and my wife met Mr Conor Boland in Barnard Castle.
Conor is an extremely knowledgeable and likeable audiologist who took his time listening to my issues and needs.
He then conducted a very detailed hearing test on myself, followed by an explanation of his findings along with suggestions as to the correct and suitable hearing aids.
His patience and understanding along with his experience of dealing with Hearing Aid companies soon brought me to the attention of the Signia Silks range of CIC aids.
The icing on the cake for me was the 90 days money back guarantee should I not find the aids suitable.

I decided to go for the Signia Silks, they seemed to be what I wanted (no wires showing AND up to date technology far surpassing my then current aids).

Nb Conor also took the time to examine my wife who had mentioned dizzy/balance concerns.
Not only did he explain in great detail his findings to my wife he wrote a note to her GP with what he had discussed etc.
My wife was very impressed as was I, her issues have receded somewhat too.
Two weeks later, I am back for my new aids fitting!
Again, I was so impressed by Conor’s patience, knowledge and his great listening skills.
The outcome? I am wearing invisible hearing aids (at a very competitive price), a 5 year warranty and free batteries for four years. BONUS!
At Conor’s suggestion, I returned after two weeks for a follow up and a little ‘tweeking’ of the aids based on my experience of wearing during the first two weeks.

Conclusions:
Extremely impressed, extremely happy wearing hearing aids that no one can see AND I am hearing in much more detail than previously.

I was suffering from blocked and very itchy ears and was having to lip-read pretty much. I received an excellent service: I emailed about teatime and was given an appointment the next morning in Barnard Castle. The audiologist showed me on the screen what the problem was and explained the microsuction procedure. He showed me the 'after' image too, showing how my ears had been cleared of obstruction. The whole thing took about 20 minutes and within an hour or so I received an email with the attachment that has been sent to my GP. I am delighted and relieved, to say the least and highly recommend this service!

In July 2020, after Covid-19 lock-down, my wife and Travelled to Barnard Castle, Co Durham, to visit family. I am hard of hearing, and my wife was becoming convinced that my hearing aids needed adjustment. I made an appointment, with Conor Boland at Durham Hearing Specialists. My consultation was both friendly and efficient. He conducted a hearing asserssment and then adjusted my hearing aids appropriately. The difference in my hearing is quite remarkable. Halfway through March, my wife developed a severe 'earache' in her left ear. A visit to the hospital A&E confirmed that she had quite a severe build-up of wax.
Due to the outbreak of the Pandemic, neither the Hospital nor the Family Clinic was able to remove the wax but prescribed antibiotics on two occasions, and told her to take Paracetamol for the pain.
Last Monday, 6th July, my wife returned to the Family Clinic as by this time the pain and headaches had increased in frequency and a good night's sleep was a thing of the past. Unfortunately, the Clinic could do nothing as they are under the direction of the NHS who would not permit wax removal. (This is not intended as a criticism of the NHS, as their hands were tied due to the operating constraints imposed by the ongoing Pandemic.)
In desperation, I went online and discovered Mr. Conor Boland who works out of a Surgery in Barnard Castle. I immediately booked an appointment, and exactly two days later my wife was sitting in front of Mr. Boland. He immediately pumped out the ear wax, and half an hour later one very happy Lady returned to our car. That night she had the best sleep she had experienced in many, many weeks.
