Absolutely disgusting company. Was told that they had refunded my dad, but they didn’t. Then I was asked to leave it to them while they look into it, and it has now been about a week. I have emailed and no one gets back to you and then I have tried to call and once AGAIN I can’t get through. This is beyond ridiculous now if I had owed them money they would be sure to get in contact with me to get it from me. My dad is in his 80’s with dementia and this is the treatment he is getting. Vile company. I would like someone with a bit of decency to make contact with me. Charmain

My dad has dementia and one of their salespeople called him and managed to get him to sign up to their most expensive package at £499. When I saw the amount on the bank statement and spoke to him, it was clear it wasn't something he wanted to sign up. The phone number on the website doesn't exist (the website is apparently under update). I sent a message to the customer services email, and to their credit, they responded very quickly, investigated the issue and agreed to refund the amount in full. Thank you to Alex for the excellent customer service.

Providing a rating is difficult - I wasn't on the call between the company and my dad but it seems that he may have been pressured into signing up to a level of cover that he absolutely doesn't need. The lack of a phone number to call is also a bit of a red flag. However, the customer service was prompt and efficient so I think a 3 star rating for our experience is fair.

The service engineer was a very likeable fellow on the phone prior to visiting me and was very considerate about me being on Nightshift and understanding my situation of needing to get to sleep sooner rather than later decided to come to do my job before going to another. On arrival he quickly worked out the problem and cleared the blockage in the pump. He was very knowledgeable and talked me through what the washing machine was going to do before it actually happened. Very pleased with this service and I'm glad I purchased it as I'd had a stressful week at work so it was a weight off my mind.

My elderly mother's telephone number is registered with the Telephone Preference Service as one that should not receive direct marketing calls. Despite this, Domestic Care & Repair company broke the law by calling her and telling her that she had an appliance cover policy that was due to expire and needed to be renewed. There was no pre-existing policy and she had no pre-existing relationship with the company so this was fraud. It then used high pressure tactics to get her to divulge her bank details, which it used to set up a direct debit to take two payments totalling £499.00, which is theft.

The company is obviously trying to play on the brand recognition of Domestic & General and is misleading vulnerable individuals into believing that they have a pre-existing relationship with the company. I have reported this company to Action Fraud, the Telephone Preference Service, the Information Commissioner’s Office and the City of London Police, who are the national lead for fraud. I would avoid at all cost.

Addendum, 23/2/23 - the reply and apology from 'Reece Williams' below is just for display as I have already written to company and formally complained but received no reply or refund. I wasn't at all surprised not to, as this is not a genuine company, it just pretends to be on this review site to try and con others.

Update 22/8/23 - Domestic Care Repair have tried to have my review removed, arguing that it is not genuine. I have spent three weeks liaising with Trustpilot and providing all of the documentation to substantiate my review, which has been now verified. It is a tactic to improve their rating so be sceptical of the 5 star reviews, and pay attention to the 1 star ones!

Although there was a bit of delay, my TV was replaced

Amy Clarke was the company person who dealt with our case (dishwasher broke down and we have cover from Domestic Care and Repair) and she was extremely helpful in getting an engineer out to us after a few days, and following up after the visit to check if there were still any problems. As the issue still persisted, she arranged for a 2nd engineer to come within a couple of days, and this time the problem was completely sorted. Although it took a while for someone to come see our appliance, Amy was able to deal with our queries and was easy to reach during the whole situation.
