We highly recommend Detour for Latin America travel. Our original trip to the Galapagos and Machu Picchu, booked in 2020, was cancelled due to Covid. Layna has maintained contact and gone above and beyond in rebooking our trip two years later -- answering questions, adjusting the itinerary, making valuable suggestions, etc. -- a travel angel!! Very professional and very knowledgeable -- it has been a pleasure to work with her and Detour!!

This firm will handle all queries, organise a tailor-made holiday at a very reasonable price and do it quickly, backed by their own personal knowledge. They were a pleasure to deal with.

I cannot recommend this company enough. They took care of each and every aspect of my trip that I planned for a year and on my own. I never felt alone or worried about anything. The ethics of this company is also exceptional. I heard the best things about this company from the employees who sung high praises of the owners. The staff all seemed to love working for this company and they were treated with respect and dignity. I would only use this company again in the future for any trips to Peru.

My girlfriend and I had the most incredible experience in the Galapagos Islands, and none of it would have been possible without the amazing support from Detour. Layna George the primary representative who helped us book this trip really went above and beyond in helping us tailor our trip to exactly what we wanted. The hotels were incredible with very attentive staff that provided a great service. The guides that were with us throughout our trip were phenomenal and very flexible in accommodating all of our requests. Honestly can't think of one part of our trip that we didn't enjoy, and we can't wait to use Detour again.

It was an adventure! I loved hiking the Inca Trail with Amazons Explorer. Our guide shared his enthusiasm of Inca history and our angels, who carried the camping equipment & food, made it possible for me to do the hike. The next leg of our journey was a trip to the Tambopata Research Center on the Amazon River with Rainforest Expeditions. I don't think I will ever forget the sounds of the Rainforest: the Macaws, Howler Monkeys, a night time boat ride under the stars... Detour Destinations helped put this trip together. They helped with pre travel information, gave me an itinerary with contacts & phone numbers should travel plans change enroute, guides met us at the airport. Seamless travel, I loved it.

Fantastic experience. They managed to fit in everything we wanted to see and do and kept within our budget. Our agent was Allie. Definitely recommend and will use again if opportunity arises.

I had a great time on my trip to Ecuadar a few years back. It was my first big, out of the US vacation. Detour made it fun, easy, and comfortable!
I loved the variety of events planned for each day: snorkeling, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking and more! Some of which were a first for me, all the tour guides were helpful and accommodating with each activity.

Mountain Lodges 7 Day Lares Trek was magical. Guides were incredible, the lodges were lovely, and the food was impeccable. I cried when the trip ended. Detour made the whole booking process so easy, I originally wanted to hike the Inca Trail but the permits were sold out. I was so bummed out, but Greg from Detour convinced me that this trip was just as good. It was that and even more. I am glad Detour had an alternative suggestion which in the end was a better option for me. I am so glad I did this trip!

I asked for a college level educated field biologist and history tour guide and they not only delivered an expert in the history & culture of Peru, but one who had connections to the Indigenious people of the Andes....so when we walked a trail and picked a leaf or flower he could tell us why it was important to the people 1000 years ago and today. That alone made a life changing impression on my son. All important to us on any trip the food! Detour knew where to go to - from diners and five star - to experience Anthony Bourdain authentic food. I'll never forgot the Coca leaf ravioli with a fresh tomato sauce enjoyed while sitting on in a sun drenched, flower rich patio - it was magical. Detour Destinations is my go to for custom adventure travel - for family, for multi-generational trips and for girl friend get-aways. Last but not least DD delivers value......you get everything the big boy thick colored brochure travel operators offer without the huge mark-up.

I was very happy with our trip to Belize. I thought they organized the trip well and got us fair prices. This made things a lot easier for us going to place we knew very little about.

I have been on a trip to the Huaorani tribe in the Ecuadoran Amazon basin rain forest. It was one of the best trips I have ever taken. We were well taken care of, learned so much, and thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality of the Huaorani people.

Detour is one of the best companies you can book a tour with. We have gone on two trips set up by Detour Destinations. The first was Peru and the second was Ecuador. Their support pre trip and during the trip was EXCELLENT. They put together both trips to meet our needs and interests. They helped with any issues that arose during the trip and delivered a 5 Start experience. We have been travel guides ourselves in many countries and understand how hard it is to provide a quality experience, which is what they do. We will be booking more trips with Detour for sure and highly recommend them to anyone who wants a fantastic travel experience.

Detour provided me with a packing list and thorough itinerary, plus answers to all my questions as I prepared for my trip. Everything went so smoothly even though there were a lot of logistics!
