Great service from start to finish
Great service from start to finish, Lottie Walker was fantastic with guidance through the service and really helped put things into perspective.
Curtis law
Curtis law was in contact with us constantly updating us on every procedure going through the purchase of our property.
The process went smoothly and without any problems.
Disaster overall
We were first quoted £1100, at the end it was nearly £2300. After questioning all the added fees which we were not told about through the process, on the day of completion whilst on the way to the property, they called us and stated another £300 was needed or completion could not happen.
The whole process was long, no chain properties etc and it was our first property so should have been nice and easy right? Wrong, it took nearly 5 months to complete. There was no communication at all, wrong plot number was sent to us to confirm. Late responses and if we do actually get a response it would be after ringing and emailing multiple times. I strongly would not use again!!!!
`Award Winning Solicitors`........what a Joke !!!!
Curtis Law were recommended by our estate agent to use this company. From the outset, we were unable to get anyone to answer phone calls or respond to E Mails asking for assistance & guidance. In one day, I personally made 46 phone calls to this company and again no one picked up the phone! Juber Deriwala, a supposed Director of this company and their senior conveyancer, confirmed via this companies IT Dept, that it was correct, I had made 46 separate phone calls and nobody answered a single call of mine. Juber stated, "I can only apologise". That was it ! I had an E Mail from Shambhavee stating that she had sent me five attachments, that required my urgent attention. I opened the E Mail, to find that she had not attached the Attachments! I e mailed her back pointing these facts out to her, she e mailed me back stating that it was an oversight on her behalf! She still did not send the attachments with the E Mail. We finally dismissed this firm on 23rd December 2025 and appointed `Lovedays` of Bakewell. They got this sale across the line by 30th January 2026 when we completed! Two days after dismissing Curtis Law, I had an E Mail from NIkita, requesting final payment of my bill, otherwise they would not release our file document papers to our new Law Company. " You settle your account/Bill and we will transfer your documents to your newly appointed law firm". I stated to Nikita, I just wish your company were as expedient in answering my E Mail queries, as you are in sending final invoices out!
I politely suggested that they change their name from Curtis Law, to `Billy Smarts`....as they were running a complete Circus there! She put the phone down on me. How ever this company became an `Award Winning Solicitors` is totally beyond me, unless it was an award for total incompetence, lying, failure to communicate with current clients etc etc etc
Pay more money and get a Professional Law Firm to represent you. Juber`s final e mail to me was, "We have dismissed Shambhavee forthwith from Curtis Law". Bit late in the day & his `get out clause` ? Blaming a junior member of staff and not taking any responsibility himself! Appalling !
Avoid at all costs
Unfortunately have to work with them regularly, very difficult to contact, blame other solicitors when it’s clearly their fault. Almost always the issue in house chains holding things up. We as an agent now refuse clients that use them because of the amount of issues and house sales that fall through because of them.
Not recommending them for anyone
Not recommending them for anyone. They are a bunch of time wasters. Hard to reach them and they always blame the other solicitors. They asked curtain paperwork 2 times to wasting my time. No chain property and still not have the key or even an exchange date. Please avoid of this company.
I urge you to avoid this firm
Completely unreliable, 0 communication, 4 missed completion deadlines, case passed from pillar to post, and the nightmare is still ongoing. They just do not seem to care. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!!
Highly recommend Aksah - professional and reliable to the end
Aksah was an absolute god send given our very poor experience with the first buyer who turned out to be unreliable and a nightmare. Her professional approach and going the extra mile to support the overall transaction with both the sale and purchase including with our second buyers. We highly recommend Aksah for her conveyancing and an overall great service!
Thanks to our conveyancer Charlotte Hartley…
We would like to thank Charlotte Hartley for all her hard work on the conveyance for the sale of our property. She provided us with a first class service, nothing was too much trouble.
Thanks again
John and Sharon

Avoid at all costs
We used Curtis Law for conveyancing on a property sale and purchase and I genuinely have never ever dealt with a worse business in my life.
I never received an update without chasing them first. I was left for weeks with zero communication. They never once answered the phone whenever I would try to call them and their customer service was frankly appalling. My emails were ignored and on the odd occasion I was lucky enough to receive a reply from the company I was paying thousands of pounds to, their answers were vague, confusing, unclear and downright rude.
Nothing in either of my cases was ever explained to me. I often received emails where I didn’t understand what was being asked of me and felt completely in the dark about how my cases were progressing. I never once spoke to my actual solicitor directly in the gruelling 7 month period it took to finally complete on my cases until the final days before completion where I had to ring upwards of 10 times a day to ensure things were being done to meet the completion deadline.
I had so little faith in Curtis Law that I often sought 3rd party legal advice on many of the things that cropped up in my cases as they gave me no reassurance that they had my best interests as a priority.
I would urge anyone considering using this firm to look elsewhere- even if they offer you a lower price than everyone else, even if the estate agents give you a sales pitch about how well they and the solicitors work together- DON’T DO IT. It’s not worth the stress, the time and the inconvenience of basically having to manage your own sale and purchase through to completion, whilst having the pleasure of forking out thousands of pounds for someone who can’t even be bothered to reply to a simple question in an email. Honestly, I don’t even know how they still have a business if this is how they treat their customers, and how they still have a 3.5 TrustPilot rating is beyond me. If I could give 0 stars, I would do.
The sheer lack of incompetence not only gave an absolutely dreadful customer experience from start to finish, it also left me over £6,000 out of pocket due to me discovering something which my solicitor had completely missed on my new mortgage application. I was left with no choice to pay this out of my own pocket on the day before completion or the entire chain would have fallen through after 7 months of waiting. Had I not called Skipton myself 2 days before completion, my solicitor would have been none the wiser to this charge and by the time I had informed them, it was too late to do anything about before completing.
Even on the day of completion, my partner had to sit outside the estate agents of our purchase because there was radio silence from our own conveyancing team. As you can imagine, this was extremely distressing sitting in an empty house not knowing if you have a home to go to or not. After my partner had finally got the keys from the onward estate agents, it took our own solicitor over an hour to email us to let us know completion had happened. Had we have waited for her update, it would have been almost 4:30pm before we had even been able to pick up our keys!!!
I hope I never have the misfortune of dealing with Curtis Law again.
My experience with Curtis Law…
My experience with Curtis Law Solicitors has been very disappointing. Their service throughout the conveyancing process was poor and far below the standard I expected.
The solicitor (Charlotte)handling my case appeared to act more in the seller’s favour than in mine, leaving me feeling unsupported as their client. They also caused significant delays with the paperwork, which resulted in me paying higher land registry fees due to missed deadlines. On top of this, they were not professionally up to date with government policy changes, which further undermined my confidence in their service.
Despite paying full fees, I received service that was unhelpful, poorly managed, and ultimately cost me more money. I would not recommend Curtis Law Solicitors to anyone seeking reliable and professional conveyancing support.
Conveyancing Nightmare
I have been in conveyancing to purchase a property for 16 months. Whilst I had to change my solicitors due to lack of progress, my new solicitor had things through to contract exchange in around 16 weeks. Curtis Law are the solicitors looking after the sellers, and 16 months into conveyancing, they missed the contract exchange last Friday (5th Sept) and by end of business today (8th Sept) they still haven't exchanged. Completion is supposed to be on Friday 12th Sept. I have no idea why they failed to meet the exchange date, but I have removals and deliveries booked for Saturday 13th, so if we cannot complete this week, I will have to cancel many things.
Curtis Law's own website claims :
"At Curtis Law Solicitors our Conveyancing Solicitors understand the stress and complexity of buying or selling a residential or commercial property and how important a smooth transaction is for you, which is why we work diligently to ensure requirements are met within an agreed time frame, quickly and efficiently."
Well, how about not missing dates and stressing out your client who is trying to sell the property, and myself who is trying to buy it ?
Not one bit impressed and if I miss completion due to Curtis Law's lack of effort and diligence, then it will be a formal complaint to the Law Society.
Awful company, stay well clear!
I am shocked to see how many 5 start reviews there is, this company is shocking! The whole conveyancing process was a joke from start to finish. No updates or communication unless you literally hound them with calls and emails. Not only was the communication poor, they seemed to have no idea what they were doing most of the time. They were lying about things they were 'waiting for' and I had to correct them on a lot of things which were wrong!! They sent me incorrect completion statements, which is a lot of money at steak. They also overcharge you, the quote you receive is NOT what you will pay, they like to add lots of different fee's at the end. We only found this out within a few days of our completion date, so we did not have time to question these fee's over fear of missing the completion date. They will wait right up until your completion date to get stuff done, and will ask you to do things (print, sign and send off for documents) a day before completion in hope they arrive in time .I was only sent my reports and documents 2 days before my completion date. This was unbelievably stressful and I cant tell you how much time it took up for me to get my house purchase over the line. Do not use this company, go with someone else, its not worth it!!
Kept up to date through whole process
Found to be very efficient and we were kept updated throughout the whole conveyancing process. A breath of fresh air as far as solicitors go making the complete process so much simpler. Would recommend Charlotte and her team to anyone who is about to move house.
Sale of our bungalow
We used Curtis Law for the sale of our bungalow. If you are happy to do everything on line their system works fine.
We would have no hesitation recommending them . Very efficient.
Working together
The fact that we were made to feel that we we in the process together with Curtis Law instead of some distant company going through the process.
Avoid, you have to chase as they don't update you
We used these guys as recommended by our estate agent. They were awful, the App is useless, ours was still at the start after we had moved. It's near impossible to speak to anyone, they don't update you, can be rude when you do persevere enough to get a call back. Never received any paperwork on the house we purchased, didn't exchange until the day before move despite us all being ready the week before, just a terrible conveyancer! We thought Noreen was a receptionist, turns out she was a solicitor ( to be fair, she was the only good thing about the vompany)
