I would urge anyone considering this product to read about our experience.

We needed rendering work done on the side of our house—specifically, the side that endures all the weather, as the paint and, we assumed, the render underneath, were starting to crack. In 2021, we began receiving quotes and discovered Corksol.

After speaking to Corksol, we learned they were only the suppliers and would only allow approved contractors to install their products. They provided us with a few trained contractors, and we picked one. It was not the cheapest quote, but we wanted the best. We agreed to pay £7,500, and the work was completed.

Fast forward to early 2024. We have large sections of the render coming away from the wall. The contractor returns and informs us this is due to a leaking downpipe at the top of the wall. We replace all the guttering and downpipes, and the contractor patches the wall. We think this is the end of the matter.

Only 12 months later, in early 2025, the render is once again coming away from the wall. The contractor returns and this time states that the render is failing due to water ingress where the roof tiles meet the wall. Of course, this is exactly where the roof tiles met the wall in 2021, and no mention was made that this would be an issue. To add insult to injury, the contractor claims they are no longer using Corksol due to a lack of faith in the product and asserts he has no responsibility for the work. He is now employed but insists he would do the work “as a favour.” He agrees to come but fails to turn up on two occasions. Now he says he will do the work but refuses to provide a timeline, only after we have undertaken roof work we only have his word is needed. As I mentioned, nothing was discussed about this in 2021.

Now, let me tell you about Corksol. I have been in touch with them throughout this process and have found them awful to deal with. Despite being less than eight miles from me, they have refused to visit my house. Even though I used a contractor they trained, approved, and provided contact details for, they refuse to take any responsibility. Remember- all I have asked of them is to come and look at my house and tell me why the render is failing. They simply will not do this. All they will say is that it is nothing to do with them.

The guarantee that Corksol provides is useless. All it covers is the failure of their materials. How would a consumer know if the materials are faulty? And, for that matter, how would Corksol, seeing as they will not come out to assess the situation themselves?

I understand that Corksol are the supplier but we used a recommended person to apply the product. This was ok at first but went wrong. This was then followed by hassle to get it fixed both supplier and workman blaming the other person. It was put right by workman but now another problem has occurred and back to the problem that no one will take responsibility for the poor outcome.
Sad to say we will have to start from scratch and get the issues resolved by another company adding to our cost. Which was already substantial.
Disappointed with both supplier -Corksol and recommended workman.
I suggest you do not use this product.

Very highly recommend Damien at Buttons Plastering for doing a fantastic job to completely strip away, re-render and Corksol the front of our house. We had major issues behind the original render which was badly cracked and allowing water to leak through. Corksol was recommended by a friend, but also the applicators P. Taylor &Sons Ltd. Neil and Wayne came to complete the application. They were excellent, ensured everywhere was covered and protected, worked well as a team and a breath of fresh air to see someone interested in doing a good job and attention to detail. Wayne and his team at ‘Wayne Cox Plastering and Rendering Specialist’ recently, repaired and filled, base rendered and then Corksol sprayed our very cracked and neglected house and we couldn’t be happier. They were professional, friendly, helpful and efficient throughout. You got the impression that nothing was too much trouble and they take pride in the work they produce. We recently used corksol on our detached bungalow that had bad brickwork on the front. We were recommended the product by Ollie from Thermofinish who base rendered the previous brickwork and then sprayed corksol over the top in white.

Our bungalow now looks refreshed and modern. We've had a lot of compliments from passing neighbours and even some strangers knocking on the door asking for the contact of who did it.

Very happy with the service provided by Ollie (Thermofinish). The front of our house has always been a cold spot in the winter and the bad brickwork was always a concern with bad weather but this has fixed this issue.

Brilliant job just completed with the application of Corksoluk to the front of our house. From our experience, Corksol appears to a great product. It has a slight malleability to it when you touch it, that just makes me think it will weather well, and not crack like some renders can do. However, I was particularly impressed with our applicators (PJ & Sons Plasterers). They not only turned up when they said they would, but responded to all questions promptly, and were friendly, tidy and respectful tradesmen to work on our house. They also let us keep the scaffolding for a few days extra and did some complimentary minor work touching up the chimney which obviously wasn’t in the original brief. I can’t recommend them enough, and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again if needed.
