A waste of hard earned money

My experience at Le Cordon Bleu Melbourne campus was extremely disappointing, and I would not recommend it to anyone considering culinary studies. While the institution promotes itself as a prestigious and globally respected culinary school, the reality I encountered was far from that image.
First, the cost of studying here is incredibly high, and in my opinion, not justified by the quality of education or support provided. Students are expected to pay a premium, but the facilities, organization, and teaching standards do not reflect the level of investment required. It feels more like you are paying for the brand name rather than receiving a truly valuable learning experience.
One of the most frustrating aspects was how poorly organized the classes were. Schedules often felt unplanned and inconsistent, with sudden changes that made it difficult to manage time effectively. Instead of a structured, professional learning environment, there was a constant sense of confusion and lack of coordination. This disorganization affected both the theoretical and practical components of the course, making it harder to properly develop skills.
Another major issue was the attitude and behavior of some of the teaching staff. I found certain instructors to be unprofessional and, at times, disrespectful. There were instances where the environment felt unwelcoming, and in some cases, even discriminatory. This created an uncomfortable atmosphere that made learning stressful rather than inspiring. A school that prides itself on excellence should also uphold strong values of respect and inclusivity, which I did not consistently experience here.
Additionally, the system of penalties and fines was excessive. It seemed like students were constantly being charged for minor mistakes or issues, which added unnecessary financial pressure. Instead of focusing on learning and improvement, there was a lingering fear of being penalized. This approach does not foster growth or confidence—it simply creates frustration and resentment.
Overall, my time at this campus was marked by disappointment. Between the high costs, disorganized classes, questionable teaching standards, and strict penalty system, it did not meet my expectations at all. For anyone considering enrolling, I strongly suggest researching other options and carefully weighing whether this institution truly offers value for money.
In conclusion, while Le Cordon Bleu Melbourne campus may appear prestigious on the surface, my personal experience was far from positive. I believe there are better, more supportive, and more fairly priced culinary schools available that can provide a higher quality education and a healthier learning environment.

no refund received

I returned my order as per the company’s return policy, but I have not received my refund despite waiting well beyond the stated timeframe. I have emailed multiple times and received no response. This lack of communication and failure to process refunds is unacceptable. I would strongly advise others to be cautious before purchasing from this company.

Unprofessional delivery and policies not suited for international students

LE CORDON BLEU PARIS

I was a full time student in the school and recently graduated. I was shocked at the serious lack of professionalism.

Most of the time, there was only 1 or 2 of each equipment that we had to queue for quite long to get things done, and yet we were chased to finish on time or else we fail the class. In the end, many of us bought our own mandolins, graters (not provided), hand blenders and spice grinders as every single class needed these supports. I was assigned a stove in a room that was constantly out of service for half of the course. During the course, expect to pay extra to buy tools.

Only 30% of the recipes tasted decent as quite a number of the recipes were executed for the first time with us. We were scored on our practicals but some scores were still missing even on graduation day (and after) while other students who were absent got their scores.

Some recipes were not done on the day of class due to poor planning as they claimed they couldn’t get the ingredients. When one of the students bought the ingredients and handed to them so the class can go on, they said and did nothing. It’s ok if it’s a one day course and we can just make do. But it happened way too frequently that it affected the quality of what we were cooking.

The students asked for market tours, and where some specialised ingredients could be bought. They said they would check but never came back.

Why is it that an institution of such repute can get away with such poor level of delivery?

Additionally, I also signed up for a second 3-day class and was accepted with a written letter of confirmation. They accepted full payment of €1371 including registration and admin fees. With the confirmation, I paid to extend my stay in Paris, including fees to change the date of my air ticket.

3 weeks before the course, they cancelled it as there weren’t enough student registrations. My accomodation needed 30 days notice to cancel and up to €800 was spent in non-refundable fees paid for accomodation and flight ticket changes. The school wouldn’t compensate for these monies paid due to cancellation on their part as they pointed to the fine print clause “As specify in our Terms and Conditions, enclosed, the article D-2.1, Le Cordon Bleu Paris keep the right to cancel the training programme no later to 15 days before the beginning.” All losses had to be assumed by the student.

It would have been clearer if they did without the letter of confirmation and tell registrants they have been tentatively accepted contingent upon registrations meeting the minimum number; then registrants would know to book accommodations that are changeable. But they didn’t and went into the fuss of issuing letters of confirmation that gave people the false impression of confirmation.

Even then, when they attempted to refund the fees I paid, it wasn’t even in full. They refunded €1350 instead of €1371, the €21 being the admin fees of registering into the programme and for payment. They wouldn’t answer to any emails regarding the discrepancies despite many attempts. This is the way they treat people, even their alumni.

Then when they finally replied, they tell you to recover any discrepancies with their vendor. They cancelled the course but I have to chase their vendor to get my money back.

This is what #worldculinaryinstitute awarded to be World’s Best Culinary Training Institute? I wonder what the rest on the list is like.

Highly unprofessional.
