Stay clear
We recently travelled to the US, and while going from LA to Las Vegas, we were directed to a different line by staff in official-looking uniforms because we had international passports. Unaware that Clearme is a private company, we followed their instructions, only becoming suspicious when they asked for a credit card. When we questioned it, we were assured there would be no charge and that it was a requirement.
A week after returning from our holiday, we discovered a charge of USD 207. After a frustrating back-and-forth with our bank to intercept and cancel this unauthorised transaction, we finally resolved it.
Avoid this service. I’m surprised they’re allowed to operate in airports.
Clear tried to charge a family member…
Clear tried to charge a family member for a membership. My daughter was unaware of any membership. I was even notified if the charges. Canceling the charge wasn't easy. Don't trust this company.
Where do I start
Where do I start? I have been charged multiple times despite my actual subscription not expiring until December. They have set hours and several times will not have any representatives available during their own posted office hours. This is day 17 without getting a call back from their customer service number and the chat line has been "15mins" for the last three days. The last straw was when I showed up fro my TSA Pre-check Appointment, the lady was extremely extremely rude and despite having an appointment, kicked me out of the line and made me go to another terminal to pass through security nearly causing me to miss my flight (thanks to the Disabled Assistance staff). YOU OWE ME $398, AND I WANT MY MONEY NOW!!!!!!
BAIT AND SWITCH THEY PULLED…
When they talked me into signing up at the airport, (in May) they said, "$199 would be for me and two other people for 5 years. Then they walked myself and my husband through the line rapidly with no problems.
Now in September, when trying to use it, they tell me, "we both need to have an account"
I'd call this BAIT AND SWITCH from them.
had I known it would cost 199 for one and 129 for the other I would not have done it.
Now, I'm trying to get a complete refund, because they lied about the way it worked from the beginning.
Worst platform ever I been having…
Worst platform ever I been having issues with it for years as I am try to get a blue badge on LinkedIn and your stupid website never works correctly and you guys can't even keep your servers up and running all the time trump needs to shut you down.
Steer clear of this scam
Steer clear of this scam. Got railroaded into enrolling when I showed up for my TSA appointment Rep didn’t explain anything ( my fault for not seeking clarification) and enrolled me in Clear before TSA approval. At that point I was SOL as I was told it was too late to stop process. Took well over 1 1/2 hrs with the 18 yr old CLEAR agent to submit info and get finger prints inserted into “system.” Ive been waiting 2 months for approval. Was told my clear barcode is good for international flights and sporting events. Unless you fly VERY frequently… waste of $$. Would LOVE for a CLEAR rep to dispute my claim.
Scam only! Do not trust!
Again, they tried for the 3rd time to take $209 from my account even after I cancelled my subscription! Do I need to go to the airport and start telling people to not get sucked into Clearme when approached by these reps by the kiosk? It sucks that the company is operating right in the US!
Clear is charging me a year after canceling membership!
I signed up for Clear in 2023, used it a few times at airports and generally had a good experience. After my year was up in 2024 I was due for renewal and I decided to cancel because my financial situation had changed and we knew that we would not be flying at all in the next year. No problem canceling, that went fine. Well here we are now in 2025, and all of a sudden I get a notification from my bank that Clear is trying to charge my card $334 for an annual membership. I think, "Well that's weird, but at least my card issuer stopped it" and don't worry too much. A few days later comes another text for an identical stopped charge from Clear. Now I'm annoyed, and decide the best way to deal with this is to have my card closed down and have my financial institution change the card number. That should prevent any further issues. This morning I woke up to another text... Clear has tried to charge the new card, and it hasn't even arrived in the mail yet and has not been activated! I didn't even know what my new card number was until getting the text! How the heck did Clear get my new card number before I did? When I signed up for Clear inside an airport, I figured if the TSA allowed them to be in there, this must be a safe and reputable company. Absolutely not, this situation is a violation of my personal financial information! Now I'm trying to reach Clear's customer service, and I can't get through to speak to anyone! Now I'm extremely concerned, and I feel violated. Clear has my SSN, my fingerprints, biometric scans from my eyes, and knows more information about my finacials than even I do. The virtual assistant on the website is no help, the customer service phone number leaves me on hold for eternity, and when I press 1 for a call back I'm promised to recieve a call within 1 business day but the call never comes. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH CLEAR! This company has absolutely no integrity!
I work in customer service. I've never left a bad review for any company ever, because I understand that minor snafus can happen and generally the company representatives will work with you to make things right to the best of their ability. But this situation is outrageous and people need to know... don't put yourself in the situation that I am now in. Just wait that extra few minutes in the line at the airport, it's worth the trouble that you will save for yourself later on.
DO NOT TRUST
DO NOT TRUST. RUN AWAY FROM THESE GUYS!!!
very similar to a scam! I am surprised how does Dulles airport allows these cons freely work there!
right before the gate this woman corners us asking if we have an American Express credit card or not. once we said yes, she says you don't need to stay in the line (there was no line!) come with me! we thought it's something between Amex and the airport. we ended up having all our cards, passports and other documents scanned which took longer than people who simply took the regular rout. at the end we were told that this a third party, there is a contract with a very high fee but we can cancel it within a month! funny thing is it could not be cancelled right away and we had to wait for a week or two!
these guys make their money by misinforming passengers right at the gate and count on them forget to cancel and the become another useless subscription!!! cancelation process was also a headache and time-consuming and complicated.
I have been trying for weeks to change…
I have been trying for weeks to change my email address on the Clear account. Can't get anyone of the phone and have called multiple times. Once I got a person and they said I could do it myself online and hung up. I can't do it myself online, I have been trying. An agent of Clear has to do it. Do I have to go to the airport for this? Nuts, I love CLEAR but hate their customer service, it does NOT exist.
don’t know what to say other than they…
don’t know what to say other than they literally stole my money and offer no recourse. avoid
The customer support is non existent
The customer support is non existent. This company is scamming customers by forcing them to add each family member individually thereby increasing their revenues and profits. While they advertise that a family member can be added for $125. There is no way to add them. No one picks up the phone and no one replies to an email.
Probably one of the worst businesses I…
Probably one of the worst businesses I have ever dealt with. From clueless and untrained agents at the airport, to interminable holds online and via phone (literally can’t talk to anyone), as well as promises that are not kept re: membership mis-charges, it’s literally unbelievable.
Clear.com is fraudulent
Fraudulent company. At the airport on the way to my gate, a Clear.com rep stopped me to promise a free trial that day for quicker security line, but took my cc assuring that it was for only confirming I was a valid potential customer and would NOT be charged. I asked three times to confirm my understanding of what the Clear rep said and that I would not be charged. She assured me each time, which proved to be lies. Turns out I was charged $199.00 to get into a different line on that one day. This company's execs should be in jail.
They are a piece of shit company that…
They are a piece of shit company that may be a part of a terrorist group trying to undermine our travel industry.
I had a very frustrating experience…
I had a very frustrating experience with CLEAR. I signed up for a 14-day free trial at the airport and was told I would receive an email reminder to cancel before being charged — I never received it. After the trial, I canceled online and during a chat with a representative, I was offered two free months as a goodwill gesture, which I accepted. Despite this, CLEAR attempted to charge me $209.
On top of that, I waited over two hours trying to speak to a representative via chat, and still no one answered. All the times I used CLEAR, it was not faster at all — I was on the line the same amount of time as people who didn’t have CLEAR.
This process was stressful and confusing. Customer service was extremely slow, and billing communication was poor. CLEAR needs to improve their subscription policies, communication, and the actual speed of their service, because it did not live up to the promises made.
The Lies & Deceit Are CLEAR!
Please Read:
I am writing to make it absolutely clear how extremely dissatisfied and frustrated I am with the complete lack of professionalism I’ve experienced with the company CLEAR.
I find it incredibly ironic that for a company like CLEAR, which claims to prioritize transparency and trust, there are virtually no legitimate outlets online, other than [ Trustpilot ], to leave feedback and/or a review. The only other potential option is through CLEAR’s website, which raises the question of whether critical reviews will ever see the light of day.
When my wife and I signed up, we were told we would receive an extended three-month "FREE" trial. Instead, CLEAR immediately debited our credit card for the cost of two memberships without disclosure or confirmation. Luckily, we are responsible stewards of our money and audit our accounts. Upon cancellation, CLEAR attempted to entice us with another, "FREE" extended three months free” offer, after already attempting that tactic once before. The audacity!
We were told in writing that our refund would be issued within three to four business days. Out of caution, we were doing that audit thing with our accounts, only to find that no refund was ever issued. By the time we checked again, ten days had passed with no reimbursement. This is unacceptable.
The way this situation has been handled is nothing short of unacceptable deception. It gives the impression that CLEAR's business operates on the assumption that customers won’t pay attention, won’t speak up, and can simply be lied to and taken advantage of. Let me be very clear: that could not be further from the truth.
CLEAR’s business practices are not just misleading, they are 100% dishonest and deeply concerning. They will automatically debit your account without providing confirmation or notice, add advertise and look you dead in the face like the representative did with me and my wife and say and I quote, "It is a FREE trial and you will not be charged what-so-ever, and if you chose to cancel before the 3 month trial finishes, you can do so," as we just wanted to try out the service. However, CLEAR expects you to uncover the charges on your own. I strongly urge anyone considering this service to monitor their account closely if they too were swindled to choose to sign up, I will never in good conscience recommend them, I repeat. I strongly recommend prospective customers to stand clear of CLEAR.
I find it extremely annoying, disrespectful, and unprofessional that I, as a well paying customer, have been treated in this way. Not only was a great deal of information rushed through in a short time, leaving no real opportunity for proper communication, but the overall experience reflects a company culture that prioritizes cutting corners over providing the service and respect customers deserve.
This entire experience has been frustrating, and frankly, alarming. I will never be signing up for CLEAR again. Moving forward, I will only rely on organizations that demonstrate exceptional character, accountability, transparency, and integrity.
Stay aware folks!

I don’t recommend it flying out of San Jose…
Signed up because a friend in San Diego said it’s great. When I signed up in Las Vegas, it was great. My second time using it, i was departing SJC and I had to show my boarding pass and ID, even though I was told I wouldn’t need to because I’ll be in the system. Additionally, I would have gone through security faster if I went the normal TSA pre-check. Maybe my next experience will be better; for now, I don’t recommend it.
Complete scam
Complete scam. I was hustled in to purchasing this when traveling to italy. I was not told the total cost or that it was a subscription. Tried to cancel but could not. Charge still went through. Still trying to get a refund but it doesn't look good.
The lines at DIA are longer than TSA
The lines at DIA are longer than TSA; the CSRs are rude; and, it's a rip off!
