This program is absolutely amazing. We have been working on it with my four year old daughter and I am blown away by her progress. I am so thankful for Jim and the time and effort he put into making this program easy to use and understand.

I bought this program after seeing it repeatedly advertised on my Facebook feed and reading numerous positive reviews. However, I ultimately found it to be a disappointing investment. The printable materials, which are touted as a major selling point, are readily available online for free or can be purchased in stores for a mere £5, eliminating the need for printing.

The introductory section, spanning hundreds of pages, delves into the importance of reading and the basics of teaching phonics. Regrettably, this section is excessively verbose and dull, lacking the brevity and clarity one would expect. Comparable, more concise resources are easily accessible online.

While Jim does point out key chapters to focus on, navigating to them is cumbersome and time-consuming. The videos included with the program feature Jim instructing his son in reading, but they are of notably poor quality and fail to engage even adult learners. I often found myself fast-forwarding through them due to their lack of appeal.

Ultimately, given the underwhelming content and quality, the program feels overpriced for what it offers.

It’s incredible. I have 2 sons now 16 and 17 who always struggled with reading so when I had my 3rd who’s now 6 I got this program as I could see how much harder things had been for my sons as a result of poor reading and spelling. My daughter reads at least a year if not 2 above her age and I started with the program when she was 2/3 years. All her various teachers have always been blown away by her knowledge of phonics and blending and I sense she likes how easy she finds it. Gives me time now to focus on other things in her life as certainly don’t need to worry about her reading. Keep doing as the script tells you, little and often and all the games and you will see incredible results. Oh and btw I never write reviews but this definitely needed one!

I purchase the beginner curriculum when my son turned 4- figured that the least I can do for him is to teach him to read. We started doing it shortly after for 10-15 min most mornings. The curriculum comes with student sheets and very detailed instructions, it's phonics based which is the only real way to learn to read. I about 6 months I purchased advanced curriculum. My son was reading at Level 2 at 5 years old and is now fluent 8 months later. It was very easy to follow but you do need to work together with your child - it's been a great bonding time for us too. Amazing value for the price, especially with all the extras--games, activities--that are included.

I will not recomended. Don t lost your money for few print sheets with phonics. When i buy i was so exicited but when i open was the most bad thinks what i can do. Realy don t lost your money

I use this system for my 4yo and almost 3yo.
4yo by day 3 was reading most 3 letter words and can now read simple sentences at week 2.
I found it a bit hard to understand at first, and also a fair bit of printing, but once you watch a few of his videos that are included it becomes easier each time.
My daughter could already "read" alot of words..so I thought.. Until I started this system and realised she was just saying the word as she had memorised the shape and knew the word from others reading it, this system has helped teach her to actually sound out the letters then put them together to form a word.
My 2yo can put together most of the two letter words, he is a bit harder to get paying attention so progress is a wee bit slower but I can still see it working.
Really worth the money.

I bought the foundation and advanced reading programs from Jim. So far they are helping my daughter read at 3 yrs old. I am immensely grateful that I stumbled on this program. Such a huge help. I highly recommend this one over other programs on the internet. This is really effective if you give it a try.

I purchased this program two years ago for my then 4 year old granddaughter! It is fun and easy to use and kept her very engaged. She was way ahead of her peers in 1-1/2 years of preschool at an center that had accreditation by the County. We started homeschooling and she tested at a 1st grade level within the program for homeschooling. She skipped kindergarten completely and is now in a 6-8 year program for homeschooling. Equivalent to 2nd grade in the public school system. She was 2 points shy of the 3rd grade level but I didn’t want to push it. She is however, reading at a 3rd and 4th grade level! She is only 6 years old.

And when they're 10 and in 4th grade like my twins, they are in the high class and are at the top of it. Purchasing this when they were 4 was the best investment ever. My twins are straight A students and learning comes easy to them. As a teacher, I believe teaching them phonics this way was huge. I never pushed them. I encouraged for short amounts of time each day. They still remember me taping words and phrases on the patio door that we would review at the dinner table. They still remember "you shall not pass" and they added the words "the" and "cup" at the end of it. LOL! That was taped on our patio door for a month because they loved it so much. Also, a brief review of the lesson that day at family dinner time made it fun.

My husband & I were mortified when we learned that our some couldn't read anything at age 5, thanks to missing so much school during the crazy Covid days. That was 6 June 2023.
Once we got through the trauma & did a lot of research, we found Children Learning Reading. Not only did it help our son but it helped us parents to help him (we are not teachers so we're very thankful for the useful guidance!).
We started the program on 1 August 2023 and well before the year end he was confidently reading basic words through sounds.

I bought this program for my six year old son. He excels in math. He does algebra and plays with his times table for fun! Even though he could speak really well and had a great grasp of the English language, he was very resistant to learning how to read. I stumbled upon this program and figured I should give it a try. Very convenient because the lessons don’t take long at all. So you can accomplish a lot in a session that’s only about 5 minutes long! If you’ve been wanting a program to help your child read that is easy, fun, and gets you results, this is it!!

We avoided the struggles of reading altogether because of this program. I purchased the program 10 years ago when my son was 3. He is a high functioning autistic and I worried that he might have issues learning traditionally. I spent 1 hour (15 min at a time) every day using your program and in less than 5 weeks he was reading completely on his own. I made him little books with the lesson printouts in them and we even had a waterproof one for the bath. While he was playing we practiced. At meal times and snack times too. He was able to decode words on his own even when he had no idea of their meaning. He could still read them with your method. It was like a dam broke, and he was reading chapter books on his own by age 5 and actually enjoyed reading. Today he is 13 and there is quite literally nothing he cannot read, and he still loves it. He enjoys receiving books as gifts and consumes them quickly. He is now reading and understanding at University level. This program is worth 10 times what they charge, and they have our eternal gratitude. Thank you! 😊

The program worked with my daughter. It was an easy way for her to learn how to read. Jim was also very helpful with our questions and concerns. I highly recommend this program to all parents who want their kids to learn reading at an early age.

Best program ever! Truly, my daughter is 3 and has been happily reading for months now because the basic phonics foundation was set. My daughter is quite advanced at this point reading books that are for age 4+. Highly recommend!

This program is a God sent. I used it with my 7 and 4 years old, they are both reading independently now. we did the phonics and the advanced phonics. thank you so much. definitely worth it !! My kids enjoyed the lessons because they were short .,but it was effective and easy for me to follow.

I bought the Children Learning Reading program back in 2019 to initially use in the classroom with two struggling Grade 2 readers. I really liked it as it puts the focus of teaching reading where it should be – on phonemic awareness!

Fast forward to 2023 and I started my first son on the reading program. It’s been a blessing as it’s also helping me address some speech development difficulties he is having (with the sounds “s” and “n”). We started the program a month before his 4th birthday. We are now up to lesson 16 and it’s been two months since we started. He really enjoys his reading lessons and asks me for them. I'm sticking to 7 minutes to keep things engaging and I’m doing lots of games. Also, I’m using letter stamps, foam letters, letter trains and really mixing things up. I'm so pleased to share that I’ve seen a great improvement in his pronunciation. Not to mention – he is reading and spelling words using those letters he has learned so far correctly and consistently.

It’s a LOT of fun but my main encouragement to others is this. Don’t wait until your child gets to school to get your child’s teacher to maybe teach them to read and spell well. Similarly, don’t wait on a waiting list to see a speech pathologist (we are currently not even on the waiting list – I’ve been told to call back next year just to get on the waiting list!)

Using the Children Learning Reading program addresses these issues as you get to the sounds that your child may be struggling with. It tunes you in as a parent as you will work out, doing this program, where the problems are. You can make a point to stretch those sounds in your every day speech and your child will follow your example.

Didn’t we teach our children to use the potty, follow our instructions, use a fork and spoon, put on their shoes? Why should reading be any different?

Finally, the help and support is there. Jim is very prompt to answer any questions you may have and I have never hesitated to contact him. Even when I picked up the program 4 years after purchasing (I couldn’t find my mp3 files), Jim just emailed me the link to everything I needed a day after I emailed him. If you have questions, he will answer!!

We have 5 children, 3 that are of homeschooling age, and we've used Children Learning Reading program on all of them. It's effective, and so much better than sight words, as it teaches them to independently sound out a new word. Out of all the curriculums that we have looked into regarding reading, this one has been the most effective, and worth every penny spent on it. We love it, and have recommended it to many people, including children with autism and developmental disabilities. If you are on the fence, don't be. You will never look back.

I used this program and the advanced program to teach my children to read. My son who was 3 and 4 at the time, learned very quickly and was able to skip a grade in school because he was so far ahead. He is 9 now, and although should be in 3rd grade, is in 4th reading at a 7th grade level. My daughter began learning to read with this program at 4. She is 5 now, and just started Kindergarten. She reads at a 2nd grade level. My youngest child is only 9 months old, and I know in a few years I will be using the Children Learning Reading program to teach her as well.

We are forever grateful for this program! I purchased it in 2017 for $99 (which it is somehow even less now!), and will have used it to teach 3 kids to read! Most other programs cost hundreds of dollars per child! As a homeschool parent this is the most affordable, in depth, all inclusive, easy to use, step-by-step program out there! Also, if you have questions or need help, you can email Jim, the program’s creator, and he will respond pretty quickly.

I highly recommend this program to anyone looking to teach their children to read, or to help them catch up to their peers.

I got this program to work with my 4 and 5 year olds over the summer. They are now ahead in their classes and we still use it :)

As a parent, I found it straight forward and easy to use. In the beginning you need to make the effort to read through and print out the material. It's so worth it.

BTW I'm ADHD and so are my kids. They can literally do this learning while standing if they want. Short and sweet lessons make it very manageable. They don't get bored. The recommended games to supplement the program are also super fun :)
